I might let him off though because of his classic line calling Liam Gallagher a knob. My good god, I am so glad he said that. I was laughing my ass off.

The brits are a low class scummy awards ceremony whose main aim is not to award artists for their talent but to create some sort of controversy.
And i have to say
Robbie William
Spice Girl
and especially Seryl Cole
have no talent, i know some people on here will disagree with me but i see this as fact not opinion, none have them can sing well or write songs or music.
 
Didnt watch the Brits, and havent done for years. Couldnt care less who won what, who said what and who performed. They purposely try to be controversial to stoke the ratings and it doesnt surprise me that they didnt produce any kind of MJ tribute and would rather joke about him because thats all they amount to.....one big friggin joke of an awards show. Bleh....got better things to do.
 
It seems we are not the only ones to think giving the award to the Spice Girls was a joke;

The Brits so nearly got it right this year.

The category for best performance of the last 30 years was nonsense - and the Spice Girls winning it ahead of Michael Jackson was proof.

agreed, and same here, my little bro was watching it, called me in every time anything was related to MJ, there was a very insensitive joke which was really uncalled for, if I was a audience member I'd confront the host on that, how can other artists sit there and listen while one of most influential figures of all time is being mocked, especially in a tribute celebration? I don't understand that, also Cheryl Cole done the MJ Jam toaster thing at the beginning, but I didn't see it, saw the rest of her performance, was pretty decent but lip-synced, she went out of sync for a bit.

I told my mum bout the spice girls winning over mj and she was like :bugeyed "u are joking!?" i replied "nope" , then all my mum said was "pffft!"
 
I only saw bits of it...after Spice Girls won that award I lost interest lol. I heard the bit about Kasabian...have to say I didn't even get it until I read in here. That's so awful...can't believe he said that. And I didn't hear the Murray part. Really inappropriate. But hey ho. Robbie was adorable. :wub:

agree. the only time ive watched the show was to see mj. did even know it was happening last night was it? brit awards have always been a joke since the begining with the mess ups with sam fox. theyve never really had any credibility
 
The brits is a load of bollocks, like everyone is saying its made for controversy! Its all the british public wants to see...the real award show is the grammies.

Cheryl Cole copying michael jacksons jam performance? (this girls is so manufactured its unbelievable! judges x factor and cant sing live, copies lady gaga and michael jackson in every way! and gets away with it all!)

Alright, now I've never seen the Brit Awards in my life, but are you guys serious that MJ lost to THE SPICE GIRLS?! :doh: I'm sorry, but that's f*cked up. That alone shows me that this is a sh*t show!
 
Trying to raise a cheap laugh over the tragic death of someone, whover it is just about sums up how low thngs have sunk in our tabloid dominated culture. But then OK magazine got away with putting that photo of a deceased person on the front cover in order to sell copies, don't you sometimes despair of human nature when you see that. The audience reaction was zero, what a pity that fat idiot wasn't boo'd off stage.

The Brits show is always a shambles and an embarassment to the UK music scene. As for the Spice girls winning, what can you say, it is as bad as the arrogent MJ hating Robbie Williams being hailed as worthy of a lifetime achievement award.

Agree. I didn't watch it, but yet I stay up to the early hours of the morning to watch the American awards shows for the MJ stuff they do... so there you go.

My dad was watching it and heard Peter Kay say something about a tribute to Michael Jackson.. and then Kasabian came on with fire surrounding the stage singing 'I'm on Fire'. Sick. I feel like complaining to Ofcom. Makes me ashamed to be British.. I think I'll switch to the other half of my dual nationality!

Also surprised me as Peter Kay's charity song for Children In Need featured 'Can You Feel It' and the cartoon with all the classic cartoon characters had Michael depicted with the glove, and doing the spin etc.

They should have done an actual tribute like the Mobo awards did.

As for Michael not winning the award, that was voted for by the public wasn't it? We obviously didn't vote enough, although I wouldn't have thought a lot of people would have voted for the Spice Girls.. was it some kind of special performance or something? I mean they won over Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney...

ps. What did they say about Murray?
 
Wow, well I was kind of upset before because I live in the U.S. and cannot see the awards on TV, but from reading all the comments on here I didn't miss much at all.
