NJ man says Jackson memorabilia stolen in Nevada
By OSKAR GARCIA and KEN RITTER (AP) – 9 minutes ago

LAS VEGAS — A New Jersey businessman is alleging that part of his collection of Michael Jackson memorabilia was stolen from a Nevada storage facility and auctioned without his knowledge.
Henry Vaccaro filed a police report July 31 saying his rented storage space was burglarized and valuable Jackson items were missing, North Las Vegas police said Thursday. The auction was staged on July 26, about one month after the pop star died in a rented Beverly Hills mansion.
Vaccaro of Asbury Park, N.J., told investigators he last saw the items in storage at Southern Nevada Movers in North Las Vegas more than two years ago — on May 30, 2007, police Sgt. Tim Bedwell said.
Vaccaro also reported memorabilia unrelated to Jackson was missing. He put the value of the missing items at about $1 million.
Vaccaro told The Associated Press the missing items included lyrics, notebooks and costumes first obtained years ago.
He said he had agreed to give some of the items back to Jackson's estate, but would not say what the items were.
He discovered the theft on July 19, he said.
"Everything that was sold is stolen merchandise," the 69-year-old Vaccaro said.
Mario Trabado, owner of Clark County Public Auction, said he had auctioned Jackson items bought legally less than a month earlier from a private collector. He declined to identify the collector but said it was not Vaccaro.
Most of the items sold were connected with the Jackson family, not the King of Pop himself, Trabado said.
The items included a 31-page Jackson family photo album from the 1980s, which fetched $1,000, and a personal notebook that contained doodles, Bible quotations and other notes written by Michael Jackson. The notebook sold for $3,500.
Trabado said the 277 lots sold for about $37,000 — a loss for the auction house after he accounted for promotion costs.
"It wasn't a very good deal for us at all," Trabado said.
Trabado said the collector from whom he bought the items told him he obtained them in a storage auction held because a customer of the facility had unpaid bills.
A man who answered the phone at Southern Nevada Movers declined to identify himself and said the company knew about Vaccaro's allegations but had no comment.
Bedwell wouldn't say whether Vaccaro's storage fees had been paid, explaining it was part of the investigation. The police spokesman said other investigative agencies would be involved in the case but declined to identify them.
Federal authorities in Las Vegas said they were not investigating.
Vaccaro, the singer and others have wrestled over the items for years since Vaccaro was first awarded them when a business venture with the Jacksons turned sour and went to bankruptcy court.
Michael Jackson sued Vaccaro for $10 million and alleged that Vaccaro did not have rights to some of the items belonged to him, but a federal judge in California tossed the case out in 2006.
Vaccaro said the items left in storage went unsold following a May 2007 auction of Jackson family and Michael Jackson memorabilia conducted by New York-based Guernsey's at the Hard Rock hotel-casino in Las Vegas.
Michael Jackson and his sister, Janet Jackson, initially sought to prevent that auction but dropped their opposition as part of a confidential settlement.
The seller, Universal Express Inc., of Boca Raton, Fla., later estimated the sales netted more than $1.5 million.
Vaccaro said he reacquired ownership of the items in a settlement with a federal receiver handling Universal Express affairs, who was responsible for paying the storage rent since last year.
"I had nothing to do with paying the rent," he said.

I am so mad that some members of the family went so far as to have MJ's things involved in Vaccaro's collection. And this is not the first time some members have entrenched MJ in their probs.

Man, I am just so fed up with some of them. I am fed up with alot of folks right now. I've become a really angry person since of late.

ewww, Vacarro makes me sick:puke:

I feel uncomfortable knowing that someone like Vaccaro owns Michaels belongings. Such private and memorable items should be locked in a museum or be kept in their family home, I think Michaels children deserve all those things and they should be returned to their right place. I heard it was a money twist between the family and him and that he got all the stuff due to a bad deal... But I just dont like it.. at all. Hasnt the Jackson family got enough money to buy all those stuff back? Its so private...

Some of Michael Jackson's memorabilia is missing and the cops are on the case.

Jackson was in a prolonged legal dispute with a guy named Henry Vaccaro, who got a judgment against the singer in the 90s that Jackson never paid. Vaccaro ended up with a treasure trove of memorabilia, including 60 unreleased master tapes -- which contained 26 of Jackson's songs which have never been heard by the public.

We've been told the dispute between Jackson and Vaccaro lingered and recently Vaccaro agreed to give Jackson 8 items that Michael wanted. We do not know which specific items Jackson flagged.

We're told on July 19, two of Jackson's lawyers went with Vaccaro to the storage locker in Las Vegas where the memorabilia was being stored. According to Vaccaro, 114 items were missing, including the 8 items Jackson's lawyers were there to retrieve.

The items ended up being sold a week later by Clark County Public Auction owner Mario Trabado -- who says he acquired the items legally from a private seller.

Jackson's lawyers were suspicious and believe Vaccaro took the items out of the storage unit. Vaccaro says he removed nothing, and filed a report with the North Las Vegas Police Department.

The PD tells us they're investigating the case.

UPDATE: In a police report filed by Henry on July 31, he claimed over $1 million in losses from the missing items.

Finders keepers
Vaccaro should have known that by now.

With that said, if I'd had laid my hands on a shit load of MJ stuff, I'd also have a hard time giving it up. (pause)

I doubt that insurance is going to pay without doing a thorough investigation of their own. $1 million isn't something an insurance company will just pull out their butts and hand over easily. I wouldn't put it past this crook to have illegally sold the items on the d/l somewhere, and is now claiming they were stolen. And now he will try to collect the insurance on top of it all. This could be karma or more crookery at work.

YOU'VE become a really angry person? lol..i was an all around angry person a month ago, and people would love to paint me as deluded, by now.

all i can say is, they are all thick as thieves, and of course none of them would consider any of it, a good financial deal. it's vain money they 'made', and it's amazing how karma makes that money disappear quickly, and seem to the thieves as if it never existed at all. all the nefarious people are black soulless qhouls, who profited nothing from their evil. and their eternal destiny is the true good deal, when all is said and done. of course..it won't be a good deal for them. lol. right now, i'm just glad, that, in my heart, i know they are not happy people, at all..and in their lives, they never will be.

he's acting like these are his beloved items. He doesn't want them back cause he's a fan or anything like that- he wants them back for the money and power!!!

and yeah, I agree Vic- karma sure is something....

he needs to think about how he got the items before whining that someone stole them.

I hate that he owns ANY of Michael's stuff.

I don't believe they were stolen, I think he sold some of that stuff b4 MJ died and now that he isn't here any longer and the value of MJ's stuff has gone up, all of a sudden he wants the stuff "back" so now he is crying wolf about it being stolen...

This is terrible! I can't understand it. Why did Vaccora keep this items? It was better to give it to Michael's family after his passing.

well they were last checked 2 years ago - if youve got things that are valuable in storage id have thought you would check more often than that. what goes around comes around - but truth be told its just bad luck. or karma. whatever word you prefer..

I know this is what the deserves, but still this means someone else has Michael's stuff and it might never get back to his family where it belongs :(

he probably sold it himself and is claiming someone stole it

This guy shouldn't have had Michael's stuff in the first place. The only reason he got it was because nobody was watching him when he went rampaging through that storage unit and took everything he could get his hands on after he won that case against Joe and a couple of Michael's brothers, and not Michael himself like that one article states. This guy was also told not to take anything that belonged to Michael and did it anyway. Why, when he is finally told to give Michael's things back to the family, are the things missing? I don't believe somebody took anything from him either. And if somebody did, now he knows how Michael felt.

These items should be with his kids, it's disgusting. Something is not right, I think the guy sold them on then reported them stolen.....
