Michael Jackson Giraffes Die

This is very terrible. Didn't Michael KNOW the conditions under which they were being kept? It wasn't recently that they were removed from Neverland. Or did he have an employee whose duty it was to make sure his animals were well-kept? And that person didn't do his/her job? (I suspect that's the case. . . )

I do animal welfare volunteer work. In animal "sanctuaries," in general, if people can't provide for the animals' needs (including proper enclosures) then they shouldn't HAVE those animals until they can. It's not enough to hope to get the proper permits "later." Being "kind-hearted" is not enough. One has to know what a particular animal needs to thrive, and then provide it . . . or don't take in the animals. IMHO.

Those animals were well taken care of and properly housed. Look at the videos and photos. If you read the articles it looks to me the town didn't want the preserve there.

I wouldn't put it past PETA themselves to cause such tragedy just to say "we told you so," what a pathetic and harmful organization to animals...

As far as I know, his longtime veterinarian Martin Dinnes is the one who found homes for all the animals after providing great care to them at Neverland for years. Martin Dinnes is the husband of Tippi, where Michael's tigers are. By all indications I don't think abuse/neglect is what caused their death.

They were such precious animals.
I will never understand what is going on in people's mind who are murdering animals. (A while ago there was someone stabbing horses around here ...).
This makes me so angry ... :mat:

And then they died.

If there was animosity between the town and the preserve, then those precious animals should have been somewhere else. Somewhere SAFE -- (because animals cannot help themselves) -- until the animosity was resolved. PETA causes a lot of harm, IMHO. But the first priority was the well-being of those animals. The animals don't know or CARE who is causing the problems.

This is awful. Such sweet gentle animals. Is there anything we can do to help the others?

Horrible. I used to think PETA was great, alittle...how you say 'in your face' ,but good. But through the years i've learned they really aren't that good at al. They claimed that the Neverland zoo was a nightmare, that there were signs of neglection of the animals and what not. Martin Diness was furious about that stuff. I have a thread about that in the MJ discussion.

I hope they will find out the real truth about this though, you'd think that Martin Diness would have really taken a good extra look before he agreed to place the animals there.

looks like it. another part from another news article

After acquiring the animals in 2007, the Hancocks entered into a lease agreement to house the animals on city property but are now facing eviction, a ruling Arizona Superior Court has upheld. Freddie Hancock said that the lease required that the group provide $100,000 bond or irrevocable letter of credit. The group provided $100,000 irrevocable letter of credit but the city summarily rejected it. The group attempted to get $100,000 bond but the city would not provide the bond form required by the sureties, she said

“We’re done fighting over this and spending money that should be going to the animals. We don’t want to be here,” Hancock said, adding that they are currently looking into “several different alternatives” to house the giraffes where the giraffes will be welcome and safe from harm.”

Does any one know why the town did not want the animals. It seems that normal people would want these beautiful, graceful animals in their community where they could visit them at any time.

you probably know the answer to that.

Aww, that's sad :( And the talk of poisoning them :(

If they couldn't be cared for, they should have been taken to a zoo or some sort of sanctuary or shelter or something. No animal should be killed because they are an "inconvenience" or whatever.

:(

From what I can gather, here is the deal. The giraffes need a new home:

Here is where you can find out more on Facebook. There is a Marc Chandler who was taking care of animals for Michael there if you read all the posts.

wow that was quite eye opening.
first of all I cannot believe how much PETA hates Michael. I clicked to one of the links on the blog and they were talking about O2 concerts and how he would ride an elephant on stage and use panthers. He never used animals in concerts. They treat him like a criminal against animals.

The facebook link and the messages by former employees is quite interesting. If what they are saying is true and the animals weren't / aren't in a good place at all.

So sad.

PETA are dung parasites, they dont know aht they are talking about. Micahel loved animals and respected them ever since he was a child. I'd like for them to prove with solid facts that MJ harmed his animals they lived peacefully on his property and when he could not care for them he made sure they we to good hands.

speaking of - do you think these wild animals know that Michael is gone??? Do animals have a 6th sense??

Actually, they might. . . . I've been around animals all my life, and have observed that some do, indeed, have a "sixth sense." So yes, they might have sensed his passing, or at least that's what I believe.

when he could not care for them he made sure they we to good hands.

at their blog they claim the opposite. they say that they offered to take over the animals and place them at sanctuaries but the offer was refused and they were sold at auction to private owners and not-so-good places.

Very odd, no foul play and both die together..

it looks like there's definitely a foul play. For example it could be
- they could have died due to neglect - as PETA claims.
- they could have been poisoned by the people that did not want the giraffes at their city - as the preserve owners claim.

I guess there are other possibilities as well.

peta make me sick but i feel bad for mistreated animals. michael loved animals and i know he's never do anything to harm any of them. sometimes i wonder if they miss him but they're probably used to it since he was always traveling while he had them.

Very sad and it looks like they need help and even wrote to MJ at one time but who knows if he ever received the letters back then and if he was in any position to change things for the animals.

It is sad and I am actually against taking wild animals from the wild for this reason.

i'm sure they never got to talk to Michael, directly. they have no proof that they care for animals, because they pick and choose their battles. they just hate Michael Jackson, without warrant, out of envy, which suggests he took care of animals better than they ever could. and it just added to his mystique, and attributes. they can claim they offered something, but most likely they didn't, and no one can document whether or not, they did, and they know that, so they take advantage of that. they just want to be heard and get their fifteen minutes.
