Lovely thread (probably one of my faves)
I just....The thing that stuck with me most were ...I remember a very poignant line , his words . when he received his Diamond Award. The speech was ...divine.Wait, what? wendijane, are you saying YOU WERE THERE?
I need deets!!!!!!!!! We need deets!!!!!
What's the story, what can you tell us, omg, I'm losing my mind, lol.
The WMA 2006 is one of my fave bits of footage to watch. What can you tell us?
I've lost my mind!!!!!!!
I've read so many accounts of this and have listened to Charles Thomson's account many times. Plus, we have the footage, we can see what happened. Ngl, wendijane, but, as a British person, I'm ashamed at how low the British MSM can go when it comes to Michael. I'm not saying I'm surprised, just saying they never fail to amaze with just HOW low they can go.I just....The thing that stuck with me most were ...I remember a very poignant line , his words . when he received his Diamond Award. " and god has answered my prayers../" Just that tone, Being in that room there, with him - he was beautiful , it was a remarkable night and when the news papers hit in the morning ,3 am- they said ...well they use the wj word but they said blah blah werid as ever but wows at music award ....next few hours this was changed ...the newspaper had changed narrative and they claimed that he was booed . they said he was booed off stage -
Couldn't be further from the truth , and i truly believe that the media became deeply exposed from that time .. because you were there and you could see it for yourself - and social media being online was picking up fast , -so word , text and video -was getting round in REAL TIME - that he was NOT booed -there were no booing Michael Jackson...I think they booed Rihanna becasue they wanted Michael ...we just wanted , you know ..More of Michael.(he'd only just been on stage )
... People were there to only see M , The crowd was chanting over the organisers voice over ," Michael, Michael, Michael ! "
Suddenly , He came back and he sung 'We are the world ' and when he threw his jacket in the crowd - there ...it was like . ...The people dived on it . it was a frenzy of hands - people were excited - i moved back , sort of ran away from it. ;you had too lol
you had quite a few other notable people that had flew over -
Lindsey lohan was hosting as was Beyonce ... ,Katie Melua was there, Chris Brown did a thriller tribute i think .. think Peter Andre was there ...Rihanna on stage , but everyone just came for Michael , everyone in that audience from the very, very young to .....old men with Budweiser bottles were shouting for michael , it was a diverse and a beautiful night ...
but the crowd was beautiful. We all wanted Michael.

I miss him so..
Yeah i get that. I agree, the brit press have been.. incredibly shameful , as a Brit fan to go through the 2005 trail with him it really stung because the press were disgusting , They still are very viscous in reporting in general.I've read so many accounts of this and have listened to Charles Thomson's account many times. But, oh my, the actual footage and the love being showered on him. I've said this already on the board but one of the things I love the most about the whole thing is Beyonce's face. She is proper blown away by how much love Michael is getting from the crowd. I love that.
As it should. It is*You cannot post more than five pieces of media *( or something)
well that's ok ..this one shall have its own post lol
I agree. I don't pay a lot of attention to MSM re Michael cos it's pointless. But I do notice how they manage to still get their digs in. Just recently there was a big feature on Christopher Wheeldon cos of that film (can't remember name, something to do with chocolate?)Yeah i get that. I agree, the brit press have been.. incredibly shameful , as a Brit fan to go through the 2005 trail with him it really stung because the press were disgusting , They still are very viscous in reporting in general.
It certainly did. Like anyone is missing it, lol.But that night especially -everyone could see for themselves how much they'd been lied to - When social media happened , Many declined slowly - News of the World tanked.
Oh true of Beyonce , ha , I have never noticed her expression before !
eeeexactly to the NOTW lolI agree. I don't pay a lot of attention to MSM re Michael cos it's pointless. But I do notice how they manage to still get their digs in. Just recently there was a big feature on Christopher Wheeldon cos of that film (can't remember name, something to do with chocolate?)
anyway, big double page spread about his work, dominated by photo from MJ musical. The musical gets mentioned in the piece (obvs) because the Tony nominations had just been announced. And the piece said something like, ' ... Wheeldon had a big success with MJ The Musical about the disgraced pop idol ...'
You know? They just had to get the word 'disgraced' in there regardless of how irrelevant or inaccurate or unhelpful it was.
It certainly did. Like anyone is missing it, lol.
Seriously, I think I must be the only person around this board who *ever* takes their eyes off Michael, lol. I mentioned Slash in the GITM video and Hiker was like, 'who's Slash? is Slash in the video? I hadn't noticed'
If you can tear your gaze away from Michael I would recommend looking at Beyonce's face. There is one moment in particular, don't have exact time stamp in my head, where she looks SO blown away by the tidal wave of love for Michael. It's just beautiful to see. I know she's a performing artist but I swear it looks like a genuine reaction. Like she can hardly process what she's seeing.
Anyway, I think it's lovely!
God, how do you think I feel as an American fan?? Not only is MJ from here and the msm did everything they could to destroy him, but he still barely gets the regard he gets around the world. Was looking at some Chart Data this morning and he regularly charts everywhere in the world BUT the United States. It's mortifying.Ngl, wendijane, but, as a British person, I'm ashamed at how low the British MSM can go when it comes to Michael. I hadn't really considered that. The UK MSM has been - and continues to be - so consistently awful to him that I sometimes almost forget it doesn't just happen here. I mean, obvs, I know it happens in the US (and elsewhere) but it doesn't loom so large in my headspace. But, yeah, if I was American I would struggle massively with how his home country treated him. Shameful.God, how do you think I feel as an American fan?? Not only is MJ from here and the msm did everything they could to destroy him, but he still barely gets the regard he gets around the world. Was looking at some Chart Data this morning and he regularly charts everywhere in the world BUT the United States. It's mortifying.
I really think I am. I'm OK with that, lol.I believe during the watch party you pointed out the band in a performance in which I never even noticed the band was part of the footage...
you really might be the only one to notice anyone else
Seriously, I'm not holding my breath on this one, lol.eeeexactly to the NOTW lol
Yeah thanks zinnia i'll try .it's going to be much too hard not to look at M lol . I appreciate lovely Bey though , i do remember her gown, it was black with an exquisite delicate laced silverish sparkle design! haha her face - as beautiful as she may be , but ....when she was next to M - Nope didn't see anyone but M haha
Oh, wendi, this is one of my TII moments. BOW being one of the best parts and then there is this fabulous goth coat he's wearing and he looks gorgeous and ... oh, so many reasons.
Yeah, that is hands down my fave part of TII. The 'twiddly' dance, lol.
When he does his little um..'twiddley' dance, upon the raising stage or whatever that is . Brilliant. One of my fave parts of This Is It.
This is where he says, "One more time" re the rehearsal, IIRC. Love his voice at that moment.
Oh, this is a lovely one.
Awe this gets me, he's so adorable putting his readers on
It's a weirdly long gif but at least it gives you time to appreciate him. And he does look so very pretty in this one. Rock star but serious rock star, somehow.Awe this gets me, he's so adorable putting his readers on
