Marilyn Manson

to be honest I havent listened to any of his music, I do know that 'personal J*sus' song, but I've heard someone else sing it, I think.

I personally dont like the image he portrays, and the things that he does on stage. I dont care if it's a Bible or a fake one- pretending to burn a Bible doesn't seem cool to me. I don't know if he has done this, but I don't know if he shies away from the "image" that ppl who don't "know" him have of him. The song titles don't particularly make me want to listen, either.

I don't know his music, and I won't pretend to. Actually, I don't know any lyrics of his or his personal beliefs in any way. But from what I see, I haven't decided to take the time to get to know who he is like I do with the artists that I like. I can't judge him or call him anything, cause I just don't know.

And that's obviously your personal choice, which is quite understandable...I guess the thing for me is that I started to really like him when I was a teenager and I actually felt like a badass because of all of that LOL. Now I really don't take him too seriously in that way, it's an act and that's how I take it.

Some people do judge him though, and that's what I disagree with...
I understand that he may bee too much for a lot of people, but I don't think it's ok to degrade his talent and intelligence because of his shocking face value.

Rudy Coby (famous magician, and close friend of Marilyn Manson) talks about the new album!

(excerpts from an email from Rudy Coby)

Without giving anything away, I'd say what stands out is how raw and heart-felt the lyrics are on this one. Blood oozes out of the speakers on this one. Twiggy being back and allowed to go crazy is a revelation - everything he absorbed being in A Perfect Circle or NIN but was held back from doing is laid bare here.

The people who long for the heaviness of Antichrist Superstar are going to shit their pants - Manson has a better word than 'heavy' to describe it that is apt, but I'll let him tell the tale when the time comes.

To me it's like Pink Floyd and Led Zepplin mated and their children covered 'Doppelherz' while slowly bleeding to death in a porno house on 42nd Street before it was taken over by Disney.

I could talk about this for a week without giving away specifics but know this: Manson is at his strongest and most powerful in all the years that I've known him. The excitement I feel for the guy and what 2009 is going to be like for him cannot be expressed in words.

I like him a lot. I don't really do his music but I like him as a person. He has a lot of common sense and he doesn't give a damn what people think which is awsome! lol

He's so scary lol! I've heard only one song from him, This is the new sh*t and that I listen to sometimes.. But I don't really have any interest to listen more his work.

I like some of his work. Although I didn't like his last album. I'll see about this new one though. I want to give him another chance because I might be pleasantly surprised.

Marilyn Manson reveals new album title to Rolling Stone magazine

The High End of Low

According to some reports, it's due out in May. The debut single will be "I Want to Kill You Like They Do in the Movies" which will be accompanied by a nine-minute long music video.

This just makes me laugh

I don't mind Marilyn Manson, he's ok - I know some of his music, but i don't own any of it. I don't think that he should be taken too seriously though; he puts on a good show, and a lot of what he does and his lyrics are there for shock value.

Great news, cheers man!

While waiting with the rest of the Manson fans for "We're From America" (which still isn't online) I was treated to two other new songs from the High End of Low by a very generous fellow fan. I will not publicly post the links here as I'm sure MJJC would frown upon sharing copyrighted music. But I will describe the songs I heard.

The first of the two songs I'll talk about is "Armagoddamnmother****ingeddon". It's got a a fast-paced swung beat like Rock Is Dead. Manson's voice is very layered. It's very guitar-heavy. The drums sound mostly digital with some live drums on top of it. The hook is very catchy. If only it could be played on radio. Though with the nature of the lyrics, I highly doubt it. It's very short though. I'm not sure I got the full version.

The second song I got is "The Wow". This one is very synth-heavy, it would fit nicely on the Mechanical Animals album. There's a very cool-sounding synth played on this track that sounds very Prince-ish. In fact, come to think of it there's something else Prince-ish about this track. It features a very high-pitched voice like Prince's Camille voice which is used during the chorus. The chorus is catchy although it doesn't sound like a hit song to me.

Judging from these two songs, I think the High End of Low may have a Mechanical Animals vibe to it. Both songs are great though "Arma....geddon" is by far the better of the two. It's a killer song. I think Manson fans will absolutely love it.

So I've heard two more songs now. "We're From America" (which you can download for free from the Marilyn Manson website) and "Four Rusted Horses" (which is a leak, so I wont be posting the link here).

"We're From America" is a kind of heavy punk-rock song. Obviously it's an anti-American song with lyrics like "we don't like to kill our unborn, we need them to grow up to fight our wars" and "I want to be a martyr, don't want to be a victim; be a killer with a gun so they call me a hero". Some criticism is about this song is the repetitiveness in it. For example, those two lines I just mentioned are repeated a few times each. But that's typical of punk rock songs and I think that's what Manson was going for.

"Four Rusted Horses" is possibly my favourite leaked track out of the ones I've heard. It's kind of like an industrialised blues song. It's a bit like "Man That You Fear" from Antichrist Superstar. I haven't given this one too many listened though yet because I've only just discovered it. That why I say it's possibly my favourite. I'll have to play it through a few more times to make a solid judgement. But this is a song where I liked it off the bat. The first time I heard it I was blown away. I don't think I've really heard Manson do anything like this.

I'm so pumped up to hear the full album now. From what I understand, every song I've heard except "We're From America" is a demo. So it'll be interesting to hear the finished album versions. This is shaping up to be a really solid album. You can tell Twiggy is back. Can't wait man, this album's going to be amazing.

I think this is being done on purpose. Two MORE songs have been leaked. "May Be Harmful If Swallowed" and "Into The Fire", the two best songs from this new album to be leaked yet. Dude, I don't want to promote downloading songs that haven't been officially released yet, but goddamn... you gotta hear these songs man! I cannot wait for this album. There's supposedly 15 songs, I've only heard 6 of them, but already I'm loving it. God help me when I hear the other 9 songs. I'm going to explode!

I really like Arma -God - Damn - Mother - Fucking - Geddon.

The standing in front of a podium thing is a bit old now huh?

Yeh, but it's still cool. And the dollar sign shock symbol fascinates me. I wonder what it's all about. Some have commented that the video (what we've seen of it) looks like a self-parody and the dollar sign shock symbol could be playing on the common Manson criticism that he's a sell out. But some others have suggested that it's political commentary playing off the economic crisis. It'll be interesting to find out.

Don't mind me some manson, and he was brilliant when i saw him at reading festival a few years back. Prefer his older stuff, but that might be because im in love wth NIN :)

I like some Manson's songs :). I wanted to go to his concert but nobody wanted to go with me :(

The album has leaked mofos!!!

Now, obviously I'm going to buy it and whatever for the pretty pictures and all that. But I downloaded it anyway because I so desperately wanted to hear the album if full that I couldn't wait until Friday when it's officially released here in Australia.

I haven't listened to it all yet. But when I do am I'm feeling bored I might come back here and give a quick review. Just thought I'd let people know that it's out there somewhere in the world wide web if you want it. You know what to do.

^^ Yeah I downloaded it yesterday. The collectors edition is excellent.

i'm getting into to manson more i'm reading his book and i just got 3 of his albums.

Totally. The acoustic versions are awesome. In fact, I think the alternate versions are better than some of the album version. Particularly "I Have to Look Up Just to See Hell".

I really love this album. Not sure where it ranks amongst my favourite Manson albums but it may very well may one of the Triptych albums out of the top three, which would be devastating. But I just love so many songs on this new album. Devour, Pretty as a Swastika, Leave a Scar, Running to the Edge of the World, I Want to Kill You Like They Do in the Movies, I Have to Look Up Just to See Hell and 15 are all awesome.

Can't wait to see these songs live.
