I wouldn't say those jackets are necessarily inspired by Michael Jackson. Sgt. Peppers, Hendrix, Adam Ant, those style jackets were around (mostly in rock/pop culture) long before Michael started rocking them.
 
something about rhianna being a cross between mj and prince in looks. hair in her face like michael..her michael and prince styled clothes and colors. prince do rags..and short hair. i think she was mistaken for prince once actually. beyonce looks ok but not as good as rhianna in the jacket..she rocks it!! hell its a great jacket for anyone to try.

alot of singers rocked the jacket before michael but michael took it to another level because fashion at this moment is modeling it after him. he is the muse.
