LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Lisa Marie Presley has given her first - and only -- interview about the 2009 death of her former husband, Michael Jackson.

On Thursday's "The Oprah Winfrey Show," the world will know about the devastation Lisa Marie felt when the King of Pop succumbed to acute Propofol intoxication in June 2009.

"Do you think you could have saved him?" Oprah asked in a clip made available by the show on Wednesday.

"I think that was a train heading in a certain direction that no one could have stopped," Lisa Marie said. "I've had to really get my head around that in order to stop the pain.

Oprah asked Lisa Marie a host of questions about losing Michael - including the parallel's between Michael's death and her father, Elvis Presley's death. The TV queen also asked Lisa if she thinks family and friends let Michael down.

"If he didn't want you around, if you were going to make him confront something he didn't want to confront, he could make you go away -- including his own family," Lisa Marie said.

Lisa Marie and Michael Jackson were married for two years, from 1994 to 1996.

I hear crickets.. There is no way she deserves the benefit of the doubt. I still don't understand the purpose of this interview. She hasn't been married to MJ in over 15 years. What does she know about anything?

i can only speak for my country's media. they don't actively believe in respecting the american court system, or medical science reports, or dna evidence, or medical reports, that they say they espouse. they believe in ratings. nothing more.

oh.. of course she is playing the widow.. she said something about she should've picked up the phone but we all know what she did for the last 5-7 years. I bet Oprah won't mention that show with her and her momma on there during the trial. Do they think folks are stupid?

I really hope Lisa gets bashed over this. But we all know the media won't say anything because of who her Daddy was.

Sounds like she has been to the church of Randy. It is just so damn funny that people who had not seen Michael in years think they can offer there opinion about what happened to him on June 25. If you had not seen him you would not know anything abut what he was up too. If you were around him like Frank Dileo and his chef and his security guards they all say nothing was wrong and Michael was great. However these people don't get interviewed. And for the record Lisa Marie stop trying to turn Michael into your father

we might have different opinions about different family members, but Lisa Marie is her own person. i'm pretty sure she makes her own decisions. she decided to do this interview. Randy has no power over her.

All these people that talk about Michael like this either have not seen or spoken to him in years. I would rather hear from people who were with him and spoke to him on a regular basis all these years.

I told you once before I wouldn't say a word about her unless she mentioned MJ. She is the one mentioning MJ once again via an interview this time.. She should've just stayed with blog writing. She seemed a little bit more sincere and nice in the blog than she does talking. And AngieJ, I think you're a little upset because you're disappointed in Lisa. You thought she would be respectful and nice but it appears she's not going to be. She can't even respect a dead man.. She said in her blog to rest in peace MJ, yet she's not allowing him to rest.

i notice you come here a lot, for one purpose, and one purpose only. to blast MJ fans, on an MJ fan board for doing what MJ fans do, on an MJ fan board. love Michael. Defend Michael.

on an MJ fan board, a fan doesn't need a reason to defend the person they are a fan of. it's nothing new, for any entertainer on any fanboard. this board is no exception. again, we don't need a reason. yet we have myriad valid reasons, that this wonderful human being, Michael, has our love, our affections, and we are willing to stand up for him.

you keep having a problem with this. so why do you keep coming here, to keep repeating that you keep having a problem with this?

why can't you just find a fanboard where people don't defend him, if it bothers you so much?

I remember when she told Diane Sawyer yrs earlier that when she broke up with Nick Cage MJ called her to see how she was doing and she wasn't happy about the call! She had an attitude with MJ and tried to imply in the interview like he was trying to get back with her! lol

People here are saying that Lisa looks like she doesn't even want to talk about it, looks uninterested and all that. But let's not forget that in practically EVERY interview she looks like that...so that is nothing new

Its not a matter of defending him....it is the matter of the over the top "defending" of him. That statement was made in regard of everyone criticizing an interview that has not even aired yet. And that is a pattern. People criticized the family for allowing the kids to be in the brothers reality series which turned out to be a rumor, they criticized the kids accepting a grammy on Michaels behalf which turned out to be a positive thing, and the list goes on and on. I admired Michael for a lot of reasons. He was all about Love. But the fans on this board are the opposite. It does nothing for Michaels legacy to suggest the constant bashing of people that actually knew him.

Stop putting words in my mouth. I hadn't commented on this interview. I took a wait and see approach to this whole thing. How could you not when Oprah is the interviewer? And you have never not said a word about this woman, so what are you talking about? The only difference is you now have something new to dissect.

Ya, it would've been fun if Oprah would've asked LMP about that song. Or asked her about lyrics that Michael wrote about her and since LMP 's doing this interview because of her new cd (I think) she could've talk about lyrics that she wrote about Michael. It would be more a propos, but Oprah never got past the crotch grab and has no clue about the profound lyrics and poems that Michael wrote. What a pity!

the instinct is for the fans of Michael Jackson to defend him. that instinct will remain, even if people decide to scrutinize it. part of the reason for his legacy remaining is that there are passionate fans on here.

ONE thing that bugs me about the interview (based on the info I read) is that it's ALL about Michael and not LMP herself. Poor Michael...

Lisa saw the drug problem he had then, and (I'll paraphase) you can't stop someone from being an addict. To me (I hope I am wrong dear god...) it sounds like Lisa Marie is going the "he was a junkie" route and that's why he died.

Also, the reporter who introduced the clip doesn't seem to remember that Lisa is married to Lockwood because the narrator said "Lisa Marie lost the king of pop the same we she lost her dad the king of rock and roll".

She's a widow to the media. Poor Lockwood.
