I know this has been discussed in other threads, but I wanted to draw more attention to it.

This has been a tough and divisive week for MJ fans. But we can all agree that "Hold My Hand" is Michael. And we know that he personally expressed that he wanted it to be the lead single. So let's do him the honor he deserves and make the song #1 around the world. Whether you plan to buy the album or not, buy the single and request it on radio! Let's make it happen!

On a side note, I promise to share some exciting info about the album in the future if things stay positive around here.

I completely agree.

It's a gorgeous song and deserves to do well.

I hope Sony promote it.

It won't be number 1 in the UK. Not against the stupid X Factor single.

Have we actually got the release date for all formats? iTunes and a physical copy? We might be suprised in the UK, x factor didn't get the number one last year because of a movement against it-we need to make sure that movement this year is a Michael Jackson movement.

29th November a physical copy for £4.99 will be available at HMV so I guess other shops will follow suit. Now have to find the date for the digital release. If anyone can search other threads for this information I would be really grateful. I think many of us would like to have the information about the release of the single in one place. Another piece of information we need is the date which most radio stations around the world are going to be given the song to start playing. Then we know any e-mails or texts to radio shows are not wasted. To me radio seems like the best way to get the song out there. We need a thread purely containing radio station contact details.

Advertisement on the net away from Michael Jackson websites will also really help. So if we are members of other forums/websites or a part of a social network we should be aiming to have our own adverts for it on there so other people know about the single release, perhaps a link under it to the actual song once the song is released to an official michael jackson youtube page which will play the song.

I think these are all things we can do and start organizing

That's why people don't buy singles anymore.

I'll probably just buy it from iTunes to support the sales.

^ yeah, the difference in price between a download and a physical copy is quite large but collectors will probably want the physical copy more so than the download especially if it has anything extra with it ( any remixes, booklet) and anyone who does not own an ipod or mp3 player perhaps an older generation of Michael Jackson fan which the idea of downloading a song brings about confusion and then a lack of interest, I'm glad that they do not lose out.

If it's released at the end of November, there is a chance of a number 1.

I may hold my purchase off until the time it gathers momentum.... and then buy it from iTunes the week the physical single is released.

If they put a b-side on like DYKWYCA, then the sales would increase. I would probably buy a physical copy if they did that.

Will You Be Able To Listen To It On MichaelJackson.Com?
no idea at the moment, haven't seen that reported anywhere yet

MattyJam-yeah I think that's our best strategy. Instead of buying it straight away the fans need to be requesting the song and getting it out there so that when it is released in every format that can happen

In the UK last year Rage Against the Machine became Christmas number 1 after a group was made on Facebook, should I make one for Hold My Hand for this year?

I think we need to find out what Sony's plans are for the single, if their idea is for it be competing for christmas number one OR for a few weeks before Christmas. If it is supposed to be competing for christmas no.1 then a facebook group will be very much needed. I do not know how many weeks in advance singles have been released that have made christmas number one. I think the single reaching number one, at christmas or otherwise would be enough, but I guess christmas number one would be like the cherry on the top.

Radio will be playing the song from Monday. See this Tweet from MJ fan and radi presenter Kevin Hughes:

http://twitter.com/Popprince

"Michael Jackson/Akon Hold my Hand, hear it first Monday morning on Capital, Heart Network, Galaxy Network, Choice FM and Hit Music Network.. "

I posted the following information in my thread the other day before it was merged with another, but it seems it would be useful here too:

"...The bad news is there isn't much time for it to pick up momentum before going on sale on November 28th.
No radio stations are playing it yet and there is no music video in circulation. Typically MJ singles haven't been well supported by radio since the early 90s, so we need to give this a push!

So how can it perform well on the charts??

The answer is it can't unless we try our hardest to promote it and make sure radio give it good airplay for a minimum of 2 weeks.

What can we do?

Well we ALL need to plague our local and national radio stations with requests for this song starting NOW!

We need to contact them on the telephone, vie the website, via SMS, via email.

Plus we need to continue doing so for 2 weeks as a minimum!

That is the only way they'll know there is a demand for the song. At the moment there is no demand because the public don't know anything about it, so WE have to create the demand.

If a radio station does play it, then we ALL need to contact them with positive feedback!

^thats exactly the sort of information we needed. I think we need to contact these national stations aswell as our local stations, and keep each other updated with what we have done and how many times something has been done

This is a start. Please add more contact details if you have them!

Please create an independent thread for this..and all Radio request infos by country (MJ is INTERNATIONAL!!).

Thank you BobMoo!!

I really want to support this CD single but I just don't get the whole situation. It's being released tomorrow so most of the people will have downloaded it by next week. But then it's not being released physically until the 29th? And there's still no music video or advertising from Sony? Is it normal for them to release the song and then release the physical single some weeks later? *scratches head*

Most fans are only going to buy this single once (which will be sometime next week).. So once the general public get to hear about this up until the 29th.. Do we really have a hope in hell of getting this in the Top 10? :(

bobmoo79, if you could create the thread with all the radio contact links it would be great, I don't want to do it seeing as you found this information, then people can add to it.

If there is anyone reading this thread that is great at creating siggys or images and could create a few to promote Hold My Hand could you please post some that people could use to promote the single release around the internet.

Swirly, I completely understand your concerns, this is the information we need to find out. Instead of encouraging people to buy it, just concentrate on getting the song out to the general public first so that when it is released they will get it. I think we definitely need to aim for a specific week, I'm hoping the itunes release will coincide with the physical release

Okay then so until we know details, less of the buying; more of the advertising!! :)

I created a thread for this a few days ago but unfortunately one of the mods merged it into the other HMH thread and (as expected) the information got buried and nobody knows it's there.

Hopefully this thread will be left as it is so that people can see it. If it gets merged again I'll contact the mods.

If you want to copy this information into another thread or onto other boards then please feel free. I want everybody to see it.

BTW I believe the radio premiere is tomorrow, but the digital single is released on 28th November and the physical CD on 29th.

I could be wrong, but I got the information from the music industry publication 'Musicweek', which is usually accurate.

I'll be buying physical on the 29th. Everyone should start downloading on this date to get it to #1

I plan on fully supporting this single for Michael.
I'm more of an e-mail person, so I will be e-mailing requests to radio stations like crazy. Let's get it to #1! Michael deserves it.
