The screening was off the hook. First of all, it was PACKED. Standing Room ONLY!

The crowd was diverse in every direction, i.e. young, old, FAMILIES, groups of teenagers, yuppies, black, white, asian, latino, skateboarders, roller bladers, any group you could think of, was there. I had no idea there would be that many people in attendance, just to watch a 25 year-old video, that everybody in the world has probably seen at least TEN times.

The dancers from "Step It Up & Dance" were there and did their thing. John Landis did his usual Thriller related stories. And there were many, MANY people wearing "one white glove."

Then the Thriller video came on, and you would have thought that Michael was there in person. That's how the crowd responded. After that, they screened the "Making Of Thriller". After that, they cleared away all of the chairs and had this MASSIVE party. I didn't stay for the party, it was after all, a work night for me. LOL!

The Thriller screening was so successful, that they are going to screen it again on Saturday AND Sunday.

AWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I SOOOOO wish I was there!!!!!

I bet it was a blast, Thanks for letting us know how it went!

Thanks for posting the pictures Nathan.

What is shown in the last picture, is just HALF of the space. I'm telling you that space is MASSIVE. Right behind that "fence" you see, was a huge RESERVED section. I was sitting on the steps right behind that reserved section.

Oh and I just wanted to add one more point, that I found very interesting.

Last night's screening was CO-SPONSORED by Snapple and Yahoo.

Snapple also gave out FREE bottles of their latest product.

WoW!... thanks sooooooo much for the report and the pictures..

there were a lot of folks.. that picture says a lot...

good to see people involved with Thriller still have a good working relationship with Michael...and doing what they can to be involved with the anniversary...

Sony/BMG and Mike and doing alot to celebrate Thriller...loving the innovative and grass roots approach...

And it's working!

CNN did a piece on the Thriller screening and they reported that over 2,000 (TWO THOUSAND) people showed up last night. Not too shabby, in my opinion.

also, I have heard the Sobe Water radio Ads with Thriller as the theme music

Rasta, I post this news just for you. LOL!

John Landis also announced that Vincent Paterson is writing and direction the NEW "Elvis Presley Cirque Du Soleil Show", which will soon be coming to a Las Vegas stage.

And well all know that that means for MJ. CHA-CHING!

that's just crazy. brand new movies don't get this type of reception these days at major film festivals. if you hadn't reported it and shown pics, i would almost have a hard time believing it. this mere 14 minute video was made 25 years ago. only michael. only michael.

This is why I am so angry with the media, that with all MJ has accomplished they are STILL trying to put him down. It is not right.

I am loving it!

Awesome. Michael is really loved, despite what the meida tries to portray. People are simply in awe of him, even today, as they should be.

Video of the Thriller dance, man they're good :punk: I still want to see the audience's reaction to the video though :(

Film Festival Party For Thriller Anniversary

(25-4-08) The Tribeca Film Festival's Drive-In program hosted a free event for the community on Thursday to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Thriller, the number one selling album of all time. In addition to the complementary white gloves, many children took advantage of the Thriller face painting station to look like the ghoulish dancers from the classic video.

It was a light-hearted celebration without its guest of honor. Francesco Carbonara, a horticulturist in his early 50's from Queens stated,

He's not here, but I feel like he is...I didn't expect such a huge turnout from all of these fans."

Irma Vega from Brooklyn, who brought her two kids to the event said,

It [the Thriller album] was the best! I used to watch the tape and rewind it over and over to learn the dance moves."

In the spirit of the Film Festival, the program's feature was an open-aired screening of the theatrical music video. The program was MC'd by Vincent Peterson, long-time Michael Jackson choreographer and host of the Bravo network's reality television series 'Step it Up & Dance.' Peterson instructed the crowd in some Thriller Dancing 101, and then had the cast of his show perform the routine live. Peterson then introduced John Landis, the director of the Thriller video, as well as a veteran actor, director and producer who shared some anecdotes from the making of the historic video.

A very big special thank you to Big Apple2 for the incredible report as vncwilliam pointed out for Thriller to get that type of reception and it’s 25 years old just shows it’s lasting legacy for many years and generations to come. Nathan I really appreciate the pictures posted and getting the chance to see the diversity in terms of people who appreciate this man and what he has given us in the greatest entertainment ever and finally to everybody who contributed the clips very grateful to see it!
