LAS VEGAS, Nevada --

Las Vegas will pay tribute to the King of Pop on his 51st birthday, Access Hollywood has learned.

A Michael Jackson benefit concert will be held at the Palms Hotel and Casino, inside The Pearl venue, a spokesperson for the hotel confirmed to Access.

The tribute show will feature “cast members in current shows on the Strip to the big guys, along with some bands,” “Jersey Boys” star Erich Bergen told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Bergen, who is also co-producing the event, said other components to the show will be announced at a later date.

In related news, KVBC Las Vegas reported that Michael’s brother, Jermaine Jackson, may soon be meeting with executives at the Wynn Las Vegas hotel to discuss a possible show featuring members of the Jackson 5.

Michael died on June 25 at the age of 50.

Every time I see articles talking about tributes to Michael, etc. it irks me bad.
Why did it take MJ dieing for people to acknowledge his talent and genius?
His pioneering and being an innovator. Paving the way for those aspiring to be just like him?
To honor him this way or that way? It should have been done all along.
He's always been the greatest enetertainer in the world.
Did he not earn all this while he was alive? Thats when it should have been done.
It's like folks are waking up and saying, "Dam! He's awesome! Lets celebrate
this creative genius!"

This isnt directed towards you Mickson, I realize you're just posting the article.

Michael didn't want to do a reunion tour in life with his brothers. Now in death, they are finally able to make the money they crave without fearing a backlash from people wanting to see michael.

Damn it.

EDIT: By the way, thats in response to Jermaine's meeting.

i God I so agree with you. it had to take this tragedy for Michael to be recognized for his ingeniousness He should of been celebrated when he was here to enjoy it.

I have kicked my ass for not going to the MJJF party. I may try to go to this one since I live here...lol.

Hi guys,

This is Erich Bergen, producer of the Michael Jackson Las Vegas Tribute Concert. I'm quoted in the article that came out today.

I want you to guys to know that I have been an MJ fan since day 1. A die hard, just like all of you. I was one of the first members of the MJIFC back in 1995, I subscribed to KING Magazine, I was outside the Beacon Theater when Michael fainted, etc... I've been lucky enough in my life to do what I always wanted to do and what MJ inspired me to do, which is to be a professional entertainer. I currently star in the musical Jersey Boys at the Palazzo in Las Vegas and I've used my place in this town to honor the man that got me here. That's all. No one is making a dime off this concert. We are not attached to AEG, and no one is taking a salary. The PALMS has donated everything from their staff and crew, to the entire Pearl Concert Theater. Every single penny raised from ticket sales will go to Music Education in Public Schools.

If you can be here for the concert, please come. Only 2200 seats are available. Tickets will go on sale shortly, and the roster of performers will blow your mind. Stay tuned to www.vegaslovesmj.com and our Twitter feed at www.twitter.com/vegaslovesmj

Keep Michaeling.

Vegas party for Michael Jackson

On Aug. 29 -- which would have been Michael Jackson's 51st birthday -- fans will gather in Las Vegas to celebrate his music. The concert will feature headliners and cast members from several shows playing on the Strip. Planning began within hours of Jackson's June 25 death and quickly outgrew the 90-seat theater that originally was going to be used, said Erich Bergen, the "Jersey Boys" performer who will host the 3 p.m. event. Instead, the concert will be at Pearl at the Palms, which can hold up to 2,500. Proceeds will be used to fund music education programs in Las Vegas-area schools. Info: www.ticketmaster.com. (Once on the site, search for "Michael Jackson Vegas.")

I bet all the tribute acts to MJ will be recorded and later sold on DVD and blu-ray. They all just wanna make money from him.

how about i wasnt talkin to u and it was a joke hence the "lol". but im just saying

You know everyone on here saying "oh great butchering his songs" etc. should be ashamed of themselves these people are doing a great thing by raising money for charities and keeping his legacy going. When MJ was alive you all wanted special events like this and was so excited everytime MJ was played wether it be on the radio or by someone covering his music. Now he's dead and how dare someone sing his song or raise money.... imagine what MJ would say if he only knew someone performing his song would raise money for a charity?????

some1 seems rattled

No, not at all. I just don't understand why people bash on others for trying to keep his music going. Michael Jackson would be sick to his stomach if he read half the postings everyone puts on here. Not disrespect to you Michaelson but alot of these people have disgusted me on here.
