This below from late 2008 gives a possible indication on the catalogue's value. Vivendi is rated no1, above Sony/ATV (or was)

PARIS: Vivendi, the music and mobile phone company, said Wednesday that it had rejected a plan from a Norwegian investor's holding company to break up the company and denied that the proposal came in the form of a takeover offer.

Alexander Vik, 51, who controls Sebastian Holdings, offered about €33.50, or $42.70, a share as part of the plan, said sources with direct knowledge of the proposal and who did not want to be named.

That would value Vivendi, which is based in Paris, at €38.6 billion, about 20 percent over its market value as of Tuesday.

Yes Michael was in debt but I do think the amount has probably has been inflated. Michael's net worth is a lot more than $500 million, his shares of Sony/ATV is worth at least a billion and then there's the Mijac catalogue which will have increased in value by a large amount, then there's other investments that Michael has etc. The upcoming movie that is being released will net hundreds of millions of dollars as well as its release on DVD.

I would be "conservative" in the estimate of the movie earnings!

The fact is that merchandise sales is huge and has been generated over 50 mill. dollars so far... + a new soundtrack, a Christmas sale... new offcial products...

We will see :fortuneteller:

THANK YOU RSW22 FOR THAT EXCELLENT AND VERY INFORMATIVE POST ABOUT THE WORTH OF MICHAEL'S ESTATE.

I think one of the major reasons that I don't trust Branca, Dileo and others that are in charge now is that Michael trusted no one. He trusted his mother. So I do think she should get a seat at the table (or another Jackson family member) so at least they are in on what the executors are doing with the estate.

I just hate how the media has portrayed Michael as broke and way in debt at the time of his death, when it is far from the truth. Makes him look incredibly irresponsible, but we all know that he was working on paying down his debt.

Now if I am going to be optimistic about why those 'in charge' are lowering the value of Michael's estate, I think maybe they could be doing that for the sake of the children. IDK. . . to prevent more paternity claims or kidnapping attempts. I mean, for the first few weeks after Michael passed they were saying in the news that Michael's kids were going to inherit his debt!

As for lowering the value for tax reasons. . . could be. But then isn't that tax evasion, which is illegal??

IDK. . . i think we should just keep on studying the moves that Branca, Dileo and McClain make with the family in the coming year. Let's see what they do with the estate, how they get it out of debt, and how they grow the estate. If in two years or so, we see SHADINESS, then I think we know the answer to Branca/Dileo/McClain.

The estate DOES NOT need to sell Michae's share of Sony/ATV either to pay off his debts. So Dileo needs to stop inferring such things.

So both Frank and Raymone are on the BOD at Sony/ATV?

I wouldn't say it was tax evasion - infact I'm sure the IRS (or whatever the tax dept is called in the States that would deal) will be crawling all over his estate in due course valuing anything that isn't protected within the trust.

But they'd have one heck of a job trying to come up with a figure for that catalogue. Sony certainly isn't going to assist them. It may well (and I'd expect it to be so) be exempt anyway depending on the exact terms and type of the trust.

The will was filed in Delaware ...so were the three New Horizons trusts. Apparently Delaware is one of several counties whereby both (will and trusts) if filed there MAY be protected from claims from any creditors too.

I don't know the ins and outs of that - maybe someone else can explain more? - but since the will and those trusts all have the common link of Delaware I reckon there's good reason for it and is that it - I really hope so.

I've only just finished that Magic and Madness book. When he fell out with Sony the book mentions he owed Sony around $200 million (in advances, album production and promotion costs etc) if he wanted to extract himself from the Sony contract - is that where his debt comes from? Well the big debt I mean, excluding the Neverland loans etc.

Didn't Raymone release a statement some years back saying secret documents had been sent to MJ detailing how His former attorney's and advisors were working together to force him into bankruptcy?
And MJ then launched an investigation?
Does anyone else remember that?

My question is was John Branca one of those attorney's?
And if so I don't blame Katherine for objecting to him and Mcclain being the sole executors
Something is not right IMO with Branca having a 7 year old will for a former client in his safe.
Wouldn't he forward the will to MJ's current attorney's once the attorney-client relationship was terminated?

Something doesn't sound right and Frank is lying about the debt.

Yes that was tried and failed to force MJ into bankruptcy. Yes Brance was and is one of them, Since MJ never defaulted and kept the almightt SONY/ATV; murder was the solution. Now with Michael out of the way enter John Branca with a forged will to finish the job started a decade ago.

Frank Dileo is definately lying he was one of the destractios to keep MJ off balance as they moved in for the kill.

Remember AGE($40 million dollar lawsuit) and Frank right in the middle. He was mute and went missing. (he pulled a Conrad Murray) Now he has all the answers and now on the SONY/ATV board majically knows all MJ's finances to the penny.

As for Branca..., you dont have any piece of evidence, so you should stop presenting this as a fact!!!

As far as I know, my conclusion of my research is that Branca is the one of a few who are really capable to administer MJs asset=Sony/ATV!

He has been always helpful to Michael in administering/running the ATV Catalog, without him, Michael would not be able to administer his catalog by himself... (or there would be another lawyer, but who knows how he would help Michael..., its like having Thomas Mesereau instead of Geragos..., see?)
Nothing can change my persuasion about that.... (so far...)

Please explain Why Branca is lying to Katherine Jackson(Mother of his "good friend") about the value of the 50%% SONY/ATV?

Also where was Branca's business savy when Jackson was said to be "broke", "cash poor" and being sued every other week? Yet now after the crime has been done; he reappears with a "7 year old "will" to assist his "life long business partner" with cheers from the media?

Wake Up

ok, but WHERE is the newer will?? For sure Michael didn't go to Branca and let him know he is out of his will. And for sure this other will (you presumably speaks about) is not in Branca's hands. So on the end - why you think Michael left Branca in his will??

and please if someone to answer - tell me more about this case with Prince of Bahrain ?? what happened with it
