Justin Bieber: Michael Jackson's 'Man in the Mirror' Inspires 'Pray'

those who hate on Justin Bieber aren't the man in the mirror, they haven't heard of Michael's message, you know they are creating the hype of hating him. Just be happy with everyone who can give Michael's legacy a boost, it isn't fair to hate on people. You might don't like his music, but it doesn't give you the reason to think he's a bad person, just to use Mike's name to boost his sales.

This boy is just getting a chance of a lifetime, he's reaching alot of people, it's sad to see people are hating him because of the attention he's getting. Who decides it's wrong and what's good? The hype of mr Jackson is gone, when Michael passed, everyone wanted to be an MJ fan, those who are still an MJ fan can say they are a MJ fan.

We just wanna say to all of you, don't hate, love everyone, be happy with people who can keep Michael's legacy alive. We need them and we need you, just imagine what you can reach with a strong Love with everyone, including Justin Bieber.

Yours Sincerely,

L&L=L.O.V.E. and Lilshortay.

I think JB is just a fan like we are. A fan who feels that he wants to talk about MJ because he loves him. I do not think it's about publicity or whatever here.
I was just wondering if James Brown's fans thought the same when MJ said that he was inspired by him! That's sad for us isn't it? But we all know that MJ loved him dearly...
But everyone is entitled to an opinion and I respect that.

It's mind blowing to me that people cannot see through the obvious subterfuge and realize that JB is simply pandering to MJ's fans in an attempt to boost his own record sales.

The positive responses by many in this thread and others regarding him and his MJ comments confirm this...

In a perfect world lol...Justin "Autotune" Bieber would stop name-dropping MJ for his own financial gains. His music, from the one and a half songs of his I've heard, has nothing in common with Michael in any way, shape or form.

How ridiculous.

The boy is a fan.. and his little 1 year old brother Jaxon could very well be named after MJ!

God, EVERYTHING is a conspiracy in this forum.

Yeah, just lets have everyone shut up about MJ and never honour him or speak his name again, lets tell Glee to cancel their MJ show and have nobody ever sing his songs again, that would be absoultely fantastic wouldn't it..

I don't get some people here..

Seriously.. when people talk bad about MJ, fans hate on them....when people talk good about MJ, or pay tribute to him, fans hate on them. Ya'll shoot yourselves in the foot! I'm not surprised people are tired of fellow fans. Look at the bigger picture.

How about the fact that there are plenty of people out there who unfortunately think MJ is a child molester and a freak, and children are being told this by their parents and reading it in papers, magazines and hearing it on TV. Justin Bieber and other artist showing their love and respect for him make youngsters think 'wait, my favourite artist likes MJ..' and then question the bad things they have heard about MJ. Some young kids even discover, or are reminded about MJ through the artists who talk about him. If people can't see the value in all this then... :mello: ...*shrug*. I personally hope this will continue through the ages, by whoever is popular, even in 50+ years, and MJ will gain new fans FOREVER.

Oh and Justin Bieber does not need to mention Michael Jackson to get more attention & sales, lol.. he has masses, masses and masses of attention & fans already.

Bieber fans are young, young girls mostly. MJ fans are mostly older than the target market for Bieber fans. Most of the young Bieber fans that are MJ fans, have actually become fans of MJ afterwards.

In conclusion, the boy is 16, and living his dream. Stop hating on him because of it, and stop assuming the worst about him! Really some MJ fans are complete hypocrites.

And, by the way, I'm not a fan of Bieber's music, but I acknowledge that he can actually sing very good, without autotune. I have witnessed it acoustically. If you can do any better, lets hear it.

P.S. Pray is about hunger and poverty, and was inspired by Man In The Mirror.. which I thought as soon as I heard it, before I even heard Justin Bieber admit it himself.

P.P.S.This is his Twitter pic, from the AMAs.. possibly performing Pray here? Quite an MJ outfit.. MJ armband..

Couldn't have said it any better...:clapping:

I don't want to quote the entire post again lol,but I completely agree with ScrEAm.Jack5on :agree:

Justin's music doesn't appeal to me,but I'm happy he mentions Michael as an inspiration and is not afraid to show love for him.He has many, many young fans and I'm sure at least some of them will get to know Michael thanks to him.I don't want to live my life always searching for the dark side of things or the hidden motives of people, hoping to find a twisted reality.
This is good and it's beautiful,I don't understand the hate.

Let's not forget the theme of this particular song, too.Musically, they are worlds apart, true, but inspiration flows in many different ways :
Justin Bieber to donate album proceeds to charity :cheeky:

@scrEAm.Jack5on:

In no way whatsoever was I even so much as alluding to any kind of "conspiracy"...
Please don't label what I post that way, As I feel I'm actually one in the minority here lately with my head screwed on straight and delivering a healthy dose of realism that this forum is in dire need of recently.

If anything, It's a smart business move by young Justin. The idea of name dropping someone more famous is not a trait that solely belongs to JB, it's been happening in all areas of entertainment etc for longer than anyone can remember. As I said, it's smart!

OK, so I just heard Pray for the first time. I haven't really followed Bieber's career too much, but the few songs I've heard have not impressed me at all.

However I heard this song along with the music video this morning. It's obviously inspired by Michael (even the video), and I would go as far as to saying this walks the line of a rip-off.

That said, I do like the song. It is quite good - but it does not belong on an acoustic album. Because it isn't. So there, lol.

Justin needs to shut up. I'm tired of him. I don't know or really care if Michael influenced him. Now that Michael's dead, everybody wants to come out and say he touched them. Justin is just using Michael's name to get attention and that's what we're doing. His Baby video does not seem like The Way You Make Me Feel. Yes, he performed Pray but so what if he wears an outfit like MJ's Dangerous tour outfit.

Remember it was Usher who helped Justin Bieber get a record deal. Usher is still his mentor. MJ was Usher's mentor and friend.

Just sayin.

Yes. His heart is in the right place. I think he truely is inspired by MJ too. Why wouldn't he be?

He does seem to do quite a bit of charity work, meeting ill and terminally ill children in hospitals and before his concerts, at 16 it must be quite tough mentally to do that. And you know what, he inspires his fans to do charity work too, i see it being talked about on Twitter, and my young cousin is doing some Bieber inspired charity project with other Bieber fans.

I follow Make A Wish foundation and they tweeted this story the other day:

Five-year-old Monroe #wished to meet @JustinBieber (her future husband) http://ht.ly/3fXRZ

“ I wish to meet Justin Bieber.”
<cite> Monroe , age 5
Tri-Counties Chapter </cite>
monroe_justin_bieber.jpg
<hr>

Monroe and her family arrived by limo at the venue where Justin Bieber&#8217;s concert would take place. Monroe had a backstage escort to meet her favorite singer. The family made themselves at home in his private trailer while they waited for the star to arrive.
Justin&#8217;s fans, waiting to catch a glimpse of the superstar, must have wondered what made five-year-old Monroe so special. They might find it hard to believe that the smiling little girl had endured months of chemotherapy. But they could definitely understand why meeting the pop star would be her one true wish.
Monroe Comes Face-to-Face With Her Teen Idol
When Justin entered the trailer, Monroe became so nervous and shy that she hid behind her mother. Justin went straight to Monroe and gave her a big hug, which put her at ease. The two chatted about Justin&#8217;s music along with their shared love for the L.A. Lakers and the color purple.
Justin presented Monroe and her sister with autographed t-shirts. He also signed another shirt of Monroe&#8217;s as well as the sisters&#8217; matching &#8220;I Met Justin Bieber&#8221; hats. Justin and Monroe had fun showing off their &#8220;model walks&#8221; in front of everyone as Monroe displayed her autographed apparel.
Justin Shares His Love of Music
When the meet-and-greet was coming to a close, Justin announced that he had something to give Monroe. Inside a huge triangular box was a brand-new Gibson guitar &#8211; just like the one Justin uses during his shows! He autographed the guitar for her, and encouraged her to learn to play it.
Finally, Justin had to say goodbye to Monroe and her family so he could get ready for the show. Monroe asked Justin&#8217;s contact person to pass on an important message that she&#8217;d forgotten to tell Justin herself &#8211; that she wanted to marry him! She received a promise that the superstar would get her message.
The family enjoyed the show from upgraded seats. As they left the concert venue, Monroe expressed her deepest gratitude and happiness to her Make-A-Wish<sup>®</sup> escort: &#8220;Thank you! This is the bestest day in my whole life, ever. Thank you for my perfect wish.&#8221;

Like I said, I'm not a Bieber 'fan', but I do feel the need to defend him when he hasn't done anything wrong, on the contrary he did RIGHT, and he's a good person.

I think people fail to realise when MJ was arrested in 2003 Justin Bieber was 8 years old, in 2004 he was 9, in 2005 during the trial he was 10.

He wasn't famous until 2009 when he was 15! He can't get a time machine.

Justin is not good at he's overrated but I do like his performance of Someday at Christmas. They really need to stop comparing this kid to MJ because his talent is nowhere close.

Remember it was Usher who helped Justin Bieber get a record deal. Usher is still his mentor. MJ was Usher's mentor and friend.

Just sayin.

Obviously Usher don't know talent when he see it.And I don't think MJ was Usher's mention and I don't know about friend probably associate but they probably was friends.I'm not a JB fan or hater but he's full of crap and overrated and people needs to stop calling him a fag because he sounds like a girl sometimes. But he can play the drums good now that's his real talent....not singing.
