Janet addresses Michael and Murray's trial

"The last thing we said to one another, I said 'I love you,' he said, 'I love you too, Dunk," Janet said, adding, "My nickname. Dunk. Dunky fried chicken. It makes no sense. Michael was always silly like that."

Wanted to crop that. ... Dunk was indeed an affectionate nickname, and am glad she put a sort of emphasis this time on Michael's silly, funny character. ... That's good. ..

I am sorry but I have to laugh at Dunky Fried Chicken. I think of how much Michael loved KFC. Jackie and the others have said similar thing that they all told him they loved him and Michael told them back. It was nice they got to say that to each other one last time.

Yea that's true

I am confused as to why Janet is talking about MJ when she said she wasn't anymore.. The entire article focuses on MJ and Janet's opinion of Murray. Even the headline is about that, so it appears that even with MJ gone, Janet will forever be asked about Mike. I bet she's not happy about that.

because talking about him is what makes the headlines at this point in her dead career she is trying to save whatever dead career she has got left, and if dead michael is what saves her career,.. then so be it.
she cane never grow out of that brothers shadow she lost during thriller.. almost 30 years ago

Yeah because Janet said 'okay on to Michael' didn't she...

Her career isn't dead, or she wouldn't be selling out shows all over the world.

I wouldnbt be taking much pride in sellin theatres out. any has been is able to do that. id seriously be worried if she werent able to at least do that much

these theatres don't hold 2000 people !! Singapore had near 8000 seats available, and I doubt many artists who haven't been present there in over a decade could do that, so it is something to take pride in.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Janet Jackson appeared on the "Today" show on Friday for a new interview where she opened up about the death of brother Michael Jackson, Dr. Conrad Murray's trial and finally being able to watch "This Is It."

The singer/actress/author, who just penned a self-help book, "True You," spoke candidly about the ongoing involuntary manslaughter trial of Murray.

"Do you still feel as strongly about his culpability now as you did then?" Meredith Vieira asked, referencing her 2009 comments where she told ABC's Robin Roberts that she believes Murray was responsible for her brother's death.

"Mmm-hmm," Janet told Meredith. "And that's all I'm going to say. I do. I really do."

The Jackson family has attended all of the pretrial hearings in the Murray case, something that has been difficult, but remains important to Janet and the musical clan.

"That's tough, though, sitting in the courtroom," she explained. "It's my brother, it's my blood. He's no longer here because of...X, Y and Z. I think it's important to every family who's lost someone. You know, you want to see justice."

In "True You," Janet wrote that she was unable to watch "This Is It," but has since viewed the documentary that gave Michael's fans a look into the late singer's final days.

"I finally was able to... I was in Paris and I just spent the night just watching all his videos, listening to his music," Janet said. "There were moments when I [cried,] moments that make me laugh. It was good for me."

Janet said the weight of her brother's June 2009 death still weighs heavily on her head and heart.

"There's still not a day that goes by that I don't think about him," she told Meredith. "Not one day. Not one day."

The singer said her last exchange with Michael was one filed with love.

"The last thing we said to one another, I said 'I love you,' he said, 'I love you too, Dunk," Janet said, adding, "My nickname. Dunk. Dunky fried chicken. It makes no sense. Michael was always silly like that."

I just watched that video snippet and heard her recite the words MJ wrote in 'Scream' and I just had to wonder, was anyone thinking about that when he was being pressured to tour with them?

Well, I heard Meredith mention not being able to talk about the particulars of the case, so hopefully that will be the case during this interview.

of course not.. they were not thinking about MJ period.. if they were they would've noticed that something wasn't right with him.. Mike looked great in March but quickly started deterioriating yet his family didn't notice? The question is did anyone care about Mike?

Why must some always compare MJ to Janet??? I think everyone knows that she isn't as big as he is. Also most people know that her last tour didn't go to well but it wasn't no where as bad as people make it. What's the point of coming in here if all you're gonna fo is spread negativity.

Think its around 20,000 depending on stage setup

THANK U mjdot .it is not about comparing because there is no comparison what so ever ,and no body can change my mind on that one but it is about how relevant u are with name Michael Jackson attached to it or not attached to it. if u gonna use his name in every freaking thing u are doing ,at least have a stomach to admit it .give the credit where it belongs.
we lack people with backbone.

he's no longer here because of murray

We all know that this is true, however, when there is a trial in the works, you can't really say it how it is sometimes because it could be violating some sort of rule, or it could turn out to be a false accusation in the end [I am not saying this is the case here, but I am speaking in general.] There's a reason why some people are uneasy to talk about things when a trial is approaching--fear of violating court orders, etc. It's all very touchy, and people are right to be careful.

With that being said, I think it's obvious that Murray is the one responsible for this. There is no way, logically, that they could somehow acquit him. Being a doctor, he holds primary responsibility for his patient...and if he shows even the tiniest bit of negligence, it's pretty much over.

I am scared about the trial. I don't think it will be a slam dunk case. Who knows what people will be thinking. Murray is responsible and I am worried he will get off. He still has his license in Texas and Nevada right? You would think they would suspend him too.

Yeah, this is how I feel too.

Nobody on here said there was a comparison, but it seems as if every thread people are always comparing janet to MJ in some way.I think we all know that he could sell out stadiums with a quickness that Janet couldn't. It that people who dont like janet compare them just to try to bring her down. Janet has a name for herself and it's been that way for awhile. The interviewer are always gonna ask her about MJ. He was/is the biggest star in the world. It's been that way for a long time. To this day Lisa can't give an interview and not be asked about her dad or MJ. Anybody who was close to me is and always will be asked about him. It's inevitable

well Janet said she wouldn't talk about him anymore. And Lisa Marie better not spew his name considering she told Oprah she will not mention him again after talking to Oprah last year.. I really wish Janet wouldn't mention him because she sounds very fake and insincere to me

I wish the whole family can just say with a damn straight answer MURRAY! They take to long in answering, looking around and then say yea him as an after thought! What they hell? o_O

But, that's because they feel MJ was an addict so they blame him too and the invisible others as well!

I guess there's gonna be un-indicted co conspirators in this case too by the Jacksons! They should focus on the one that is charge and gave MJ the sedatives! It really isn't that hard!

Thank you!

They do too much hemming and hawing for me.. Murray killed MJ there is not much else to think about.. They should concentrate on him and him only

Yea she did say that... But you and I both know how impossible that is

Didn't you say you were done with janet about 800 janet related post ago?

You know that even if Michael was still living she'd be asked about him.

I really wish Janet wouldn't mention him because she sounds very fake and insincere to me
That's interesting because you come across the same way.

I wish the whole family can just say with a damn straight answer MURRAY!

So janet clearly saying that Michael is responsible isn't clear enough? rebbie saying she feels his is responsible isn't clear enough? jermaine saying he is responsible isn't clear enough? saying they want justice isn't clear enough? showing up at every trial concerning the homicide isn't clear enough?

I am sorry do you mean to say Murray is responsible not Michael? Just the way it's typed.

No it's not clear enough... They need to say that Murray killed their brother and stop hemming and hawing about it.

I mean to say Murray is responsible for his death. Many family members have been asked if they felt Murray was responsible and they all have said yea. Michael's death is a homocide so there is no Michael is responsible if so it would have been lables a suicide or just an accidental overdose but since it's not someone has to be responsible and Murray was the doctor who administered the stuff.

No it's not clear enough... They need to say that Murray killed their brother and stop hemming and hawing about it.
Saying he is responsible means he killed him. I think latoya is the only one who has been saying Michael was killed(in a conspiracy way) since day with joe mentioning foul play.

:clapping::clapping:...AND..they need to tell about these interventions.....AND they need to talk about WHAT it was they THINK that Michael was addicted too. Who knows MAYBE if they can do those things..then MAYBE we would consider listening to them. Cuz as it stands right now....noway do I listen to what they say. I want to I really do....they just have done to much finger pointing at Michael..who is the victim....instead of Murray who is the Murderer.
