The Jackson 5 (Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Michael, Marlon) was the original group @ Motown and gave us ABC, Dancin' Machine, The Love you Save, I'll be There, Mama's Pearl among other jems...

While..

The Jacksons (Jackie, Tito, Michael, Marlon, Randy) appeared in '76 and gave us Goin Places, Shake Your Body, Lovely One, Can You Feel it, Blame it On the Boogie.

I'm a fan of both, but a bigger fan of the Jacksons.

But they all reunited for Victory...

But just for fun...

Who do you prefer?

I voted Jackson 5, because Michael's voice is stronger in my opinion, and the look, those pants, those shirts, those colors, this bubblegum soul music, it's pure candy to my ears!

But I love Shake your body and Blame it on the boogie!

I prefer the Jacksons. I loved when they had more creative control over their music and the songs were great! I've been listen to all of the records from The Jacksons everyday non-stop and I think some of Michael's best work was with the Jacksons. The songs are awesome!

I think so too.

Some of his best work.

love both, but the Jacksons got my vote, more mature music, more mature themselves and also to look at and Michaels voice was just amazing. Could listen to them non stop creativity just flows from them, and you can actually listen to their music today and not realise they were from the 70s it still sounds fresh today

Yes it does.

I've been listening a LOT of the Jacksons lately. :bugeyed

Actually when I saw the victory album, I started calling all the brothers the Jacksons and not the Jackson 5. Plus since I am older I'm more interested in seeing and hearing Jacksons together, whew! I love both though.

The Jackson 5 because they started out as the lead singer Micheal ( I kown that he had a pretty voice!) now I firegr things out for myself, when the The Jacksons came out when the !Victory Tour started I much have to show that Micheal wounld keep during lead vocals in tarding.

I Want You Back, ABC, The Love You Save, I'll Be There instantly put a smile on my face no matter what. Who's Loving You sung by Michael is a masterpiece and his vocals may very well have been the strongest in this era.

The Jacksons are more mature and I also love Can You Feel It, Shake Your Body Down To the Ground, Blame It On the Boogie, etc. But, that music is very similar to Michael's adult solo career, so I think the J5 provide the best contrast of "the good old days." Bubblegum soul gets my vote.

I really like "One Bad Apple" & "Yo Yo". Oops, wrong group. :tease:

I'm going to have to go with Jackson 5. While Blame It On The Boogie, Shake Your Body Down, and Can You Feel It are probably my favorite Jackson-brothers' songs overall, I'd rather pop in a J5 CD to listen to all the way through than a Jacksons CD. I am a fan of the old Motown sound in general. I love all the artists that were on that label back in the day.

This is a hard one! Im such a J5 junkie, but the Jacksons were amazing as well! So I voted and I went with J5. They have soooo many good songs!

I love both. If I had to pick I would say 1969-74 and then 1978-81. I think they were doing some good stuff in the mid seventies but they were trying to find a new sound which they found with Destiny. I picked 1974 as the cut off because Moving Violation (the album not the song) seems more thrown together then usual. There are some great cuts but I think song by song it's their worst Motown record. After 1981 Michael's heart wasn't totally in it and you can hear it on the records, if not as much on stage.

Love both!!!!!! But overall I have to go with The Jacksons because I love all their performances together as a group and MJ's voice had matured by this time and he sounded brilliant and so soulful. Music wise though, it's hard because both are great. I really enjoy both groups so much.

I have to go with the Jacksons. The "newer" stuff appeals to me more than J5 songs.

The Jacksons for sure... they wrote and produced, the music is distinctive... they were on another level from most mainstream Disco in the '70s.

"The Jacksons" & "Goin' Places" don't really sound distinctive. Those albums sound like a lot of Gamble & Huff's other stuff.

Destiny is probably Michaels best work, I rate that album above Thriller and invincible

Time Waits For No One is just a bona fide classic.. That song should never be remade by anyone.. Your Ways- Jackie wrote a hit, a str8 hit, Blame It On The Boogie- My baby's always dancin' it wldn't be a bad thing but I don't get no lovin' and that's no lie... do I need to say more.. I see you dancing as you read this..lol....That song is my all time favorite song... Best era ever is '76-'82.. Don't get me wrong I luvvvvvvvvvvv Thriller, but the song MJ sang with on Show You the Way to Go and Destiny, Keep On Dancing, BIOTB, etc just can't be topped..
