Is there anyone else who can't sit through Dangerous, HIStory and Invincible albums in one go?

Maybe i have a short attention span but because those albums are so long i can never listen to them all in one go. I'll listen to the first half of one of those albums, take a break from it and then i'll listen to rest of it later. I love those albums but i just gotta take a break inbetween listening to them just to obsorb what i'm listening to

Does anyone else do this?

^^ I don't for a different reason....hahaha...I'll be listening to one of them, and i'll get through half or whatever, and i'm like,....oooh, i wanna hear that song! So I could be listening to HIStory and then I change my mind and want to listen to something else on another album...and then this vicious cycle happens....hahaha...

I can listen to Dangerous & HIStory (I've never listened to the hits portion) all the way through, but not Invincible because some of the songs on there are no good to me. But I prefer albums that were pre-CD rather than ones where somebody is just trying to fill up 80 minutes of time, that's why in a lot of cases 2 old albums can fit on one CD.

well, an MJ song is never too long for me :p
Thank God Mj is not the kind of person who would only put 3 minutes tracks in his records. That would suck.

I don't usually play three albums non-stop. But, I've never had problem is playing an ablum from the first song to the last song. I don't skip song. Michael's albums are that good. To me, no song is filler.

See the above quoted post for EXACTLY what I was thinking :D

for me, i don't listen to an album to see if i can prove the critics right(i'm not thinking of anyone else but myself when i say that). when i am inspired to listen to an album, i am able to listen to it all the way through. if i'm not inspired to listen to the album, then i don't listen to it, so sometimes i'm in the mood to listen to any one of those three albums thoroughly, and sometimes i am not. sometimes i think i'll not be in the mood for Billie Jean, cus everybody's into that song. then, suddenly, i listen to it. songs reach on a different level than the surface to me.

Exactly the same for me. When I get the chance, normally car journeys, there's nothing I like more than the whole of Dangerous or HIStory. There are tracks I can skip on HIStory if I haven't the time to listen to the whole album (D.S., TTA) but if I can, the whole album gets the listen.

If you haven't listened to tracks like Little Susie, Smile, 2 Bad for a while they are great to catch up on.

I struggle with Invincible, the last time I played it all through was back in June 09 when I listened to every album in their entirity. The is the only MJ album where some tracks are unlistenable to me.

I can listen to Dangerous in one go, as I enjoy the album very much, but when it comes to HIStory and Invincible I don't think I have ever listened to them in one go except from when I first bought them. It's not so much to do with the length but rather the quality of the songs. I find all tracks listenable on these two albums but I feel the need to take a break and listen to some better music sometimes, even though I still believe these are very good albums.

Dangerous is the toughest one for me. Probably because of I Can't Let Her Get Away. I never remember what number it is and then it comes and I get frustrated. :p Oh well, too long. I remember that I've listened HIStory once whole album at once and Invincible twice whole album at once.

Thriller and Off The Wall are probably the easiest. Never (or maybe once?) listened Bad.

I've never been that fond of Money on the HIStory album. I don't dislike it exactly, but I've never really listened to it outside of playing the entire album. I can take it or leave it. I also kinda like the version of 2 Bad on the remix album more than the one on HIStory. I think the later albums were bogged down with too many songs like Childhood & The Lost Children. There's a way to make slow songs or message songs without the Muzak sound. The Jacksons' Push Me Away & Time Waits For No One are good examples. They don't sound bland or sappy at all.

Lately my 45 minute commute to work has been The This Is It Live CD.

Best Billie Jean version ever btw, but Dangerous was my previous commute album...I have HIStory, and the new tracks from BOTDF in one playlist as well for my looooonnngggg road trips.

I agree with most of that. I can also take or leave Money (the song, not the physical entity). Wyclef's 2 Bad remix is the only BOTDF remix apart from Scream Louder I actually like but it's too short, the slowed down Beat It riff sample is very clever.

who said that we have to listen to them all in one go ?

I don't understand people saying Invincible is too long...

I want to answer...do you know the button "skip" or "stop" ?

MJ never said we have to listen to them all in one go...

It's called a conversation about music.

It's called a conversation about music.

really ?

I don't see the point of this conversation...or perhaps i'm tired with this point.

Nobody has to listen an album all in one go.

If tomorrow the standard of the album length is 2H...will this question still remain ?

There are som many other interesting questions about MJ....and his career.

It's track 6 on the album. :)

I don't see a point with many threads on this site and a lot are silly or negative, so I don't go in them. You didn't have to answer or come in this thread. You replied more than once, so you must be interested in the topic.

i guess listening really is a subjective thing, because i'll never understand when people say that MJ's original tracks are bogged down, but certain remixes by other people are listenable. i find all remixes of MJ's music by other people to be the most disgusting things on earth. it's like muddying purity to me, with seriously overbogged remix sound. and nothing clever about it.

i'll take 'childhood' over a remix any day of the week. if anything, a remix is the true attempt to commercialize something.

If you think a remix of a song is the most disgusting thing on earth, you need to get out more, lol. There's killers, gangs, rapists, governments, dictators, porn, child prostitues, head hunters, torture, war, genetically modified Frankenfood, pollution, etc.

^^ one of those words does not belong, guess which one o.o

I don't listen to them all the way through very often, you have to be in the mood to listen to them all the way through. Usually i just pick and choose songs from all over the show or have intentions of listening to the whole thing and then get half way through and decide i want to do something else

i can listen to dangerous in the one go, its my fave album

Personally I don't listen to much of the dangerous or history albums, as Ithink some of the songs were wrecked with long and un-required intros, like Will You Be There, Amazing song, shame about the chior intro, I don't think that works. And Little Suzie, that is just a really werid song and I actually worry about Mj's state of mind in A) writing that B) allowing it on the album.

If I'm on a short car journey, say anything under an hour, I put my iPhone on shuffle. But if I'm on a car/ commuter journey that is longer than the average album I'll choose an album at random and play that. The albums I generally start with are usually Bad, Dangerous or HIStory :)

I love the intro to Will you be there and Little Susie.
Little Susie is one of my favorites.

I can listen through whole the Dangerous,History,Bad and Invincible albums but not Off the wall.

Even though Dangerous is my favorite album, it's the toughest one. I can listen to Bad and This Is It in one go! Invincible is another one I sometimes have to take a break from because that's an album that Michael worked deeply hard on because he had his kids and had to concentrate on being a father, too. There are some songs on it that I'm not really a fan of, but it's a still a good album!

pretty lame of you to write that post.

Wow, you don't feel like you're missing out? Those albums are absolutely incredible! It's funny that you think that the intro to WYBT is long and 'un-required' ..I'm the exact opposite...I actually have a version on my ipod without the intro, and it feels empty without the choir... I think Little Suzie is one of his most beautiful songs...Hauntingly gorgeous and speaks the truth about the world out there...He writes about the reality of neglect and abuse in this world and you're wondering about his state of mind? What exactly does that mean? I'm ecstatic that he included it in the album...He had such range as an artist, and again, these songs show the depth of his soul and heart.......But, hey, to each his/her own :D

um... i haven't ever listened to History or Invincible in one go
