63 % of the fans disagree...

to me for example, the worst is History : DS, TTA, Money, 2bad are the weakest tracks, he ever recorded.

But with all due respect, many fans think saying anything remotely against an MJ song or action is wrong and disrespectful.

And yes, DS, TTA & Money are amongst the weakest tracks on HIStory but the vast majority of it is great, so it more than makes up for it.

2 Bad however is stunning and one of his best in my opinion.

I think in summary, I get it if people really truly prefer Invincible as that's what great about music, it's all subjective; but I fear many just say they it's as good as Thriller et al because they feel they should.

I fear that if Invincible is not loved as much as the others, it's because of the lack of promotion and short films to support the music.

This statistic doesn't reveal much to be honest. Create a thread comparing all six albums and lets see how Invincible fares. I don't think it will be THE lowest, but it's always one of the lowest.

That's also unconfirmed. If promotion changes people's opinions then YRMW should have been the most loved track of the album.. It isn't. And it most certainly isn't mine.

For History, the best tracks according to fans are the ones with a video...

YRMW is 3rd in this poll :

Finally, Invincible is always prefered to blood on the dancefloor and sometimes to Thriller !

But you can't have proof and fact when it comes to opinion, and that is surely what the thread is about.

Tony, you don't have any proof too when you say : "many just say they it's as good as Thriller et al because they feel they should"

Touché! Good point. It's a strong gut feeling though!

Michael said that Invincible was as good as Thriller or better (with the ppl having Thriller as the best)!

What do you think why he said this?

Because he's not going to release a new album and say 'To be honest, it's not as good as my other work'.

Yes! It's a brilliant album!Speechless, Whatever Happens,Unbreakable,You rock my world,Heaven can wait,The lost children - amazing songs!!
I love the fact that Michael tried some new things on this album - the best example is Whatever happens. The latin feel of the song makes it unique!
I think this album is not as popular as the others because of the lack of videos...

Personally I really like DS, TTA, Money AND 2 Bad, lol. This Time Around is possibly my favourite HIStory track actually, narrowly beating out the much more common choices of SIM and TDCAU. :) I'm in a HIStory kind of mood right now, though.

But anyway, Invincible... I agree with those who regard it as probably the weak link in an exceedingly strong chain, actually. So far at least, for me Invincible hasn't had quite enough of an 'edge' - or some other undefinable quality - for me to be able to get into it quite as thoroughly as I have his other albums.

There are still quite a number of individual tracks that get the thumbs up from me, though. Unbreakable, YRMW, Whatever Happens, Butterflies, Heaven Can Wait, Threatened... I'm much less convinced by the likes of The Lost Children, Cry, Don't Walk Away, Invincible, Heartbreaker, 2000 Watts and You Are My Life, though. Those are the kind of almost going-through-the-motions efforts that keep me away from listening to Invincible in its entirety, TBH.

And I really wish that Speechless lasted longer, or just felt more 'complete' in some other way - the way it cuts off so quickly gives it a bit of an, uncharacteristically for him, half-hearted feel.

When did he say that?

It's not as good as his other abums and anybody who says otherwise either has bad taste or is in denial.

It's a good album with some good songs, one or two great songs and about six or seven distinctly average songs.

Michael's heart obviously wasn't in it. That's not just my opinion, I remember hearing a quote from somebody who worked on the album who said that Michael was "sick to death of the whole thing" come the end of the recording sessions. It shows. Only a few tracks sound like MJ is invested - the rest sounds like outside producers tinkering away.

Michael couldn't even remember the name of Whatever Happens when an interviewer asked him about the Carlos Santana collaboration. That shows how much he really cared about the record.

Not even close to his other albums.

I was disappointed when I first heard YRMW, and even more disappointed when I got the album and realised YRMW was probably the best track on there (alongside Speechless).

I agree with these two posts....:agree:

I would say there are only five songs on Invincible which stand up to the quality of the material on his other albums. These are:

Butterflies
Speechless
YRMW
Unbreakable
The Lost Children

I am also fond of Threatened, HCW, YAML and Whatever Happens.

Cry, Don't Walk Away and Privacy are three of the worst songs he's ever recorded. Invincible, Heartbreaker, Break of Dawn and 2000 Watts are just take-it-or-leave-it filler.

He could say the name but not at once, and that´s something which happen to all of us.
It doesn´t say he didn´t care about the album, it says he was human.
He was a lonely father to small children, he met many people and had many things on his mind it isn´t strange he had to think before he remembered the name of a song.

There was a long pause and some awkward laughter and it went silent... it sounded to me as if he went to pick up the CD to see what the song was called.

I adore Break of dawn. It's so smooth and loving. When I think about filler songs I think about Don't walk away and Heartbreaker, but Break of dawn is so special end so unique for Michael - I absolutely love this track. Also, I find Cry to be beautiful. But I agree the album Invincible is not on par with his other albums. Just less exceptionally good songs. But it's still great none the less. Michael just set the bar so high for himself.

I don't think it's as good as other MJ albums but that doesn't mean it's a bad album. Invincible is too over produced to me I don't listen to the album much as a whole but i love butterflies, heaven can wait and break of dawn.

MJ didn't know how many tracks were in the Dangerous Album ! (see the trial for copyright in the dangerous song case)

He thought that Smile has been released as a single.

each time he was asked when he recorded a specific track, he says he don't remember...

He probably laughed because he knew everything about the song but he just couldn´t remember the name of it.
If he had to look at the CD to remember that makes him just a normal middle-aged man.

I can say he´s not alone about such a thing,it´s something you recognize when you are old enough.

Are you kidding me?...Ok, I kind of agree that Privacy is a pretty weak song, and might be one of his worst but the other songs? No Way.. Cry is a nice, song, it's no MITM but it's still nice to listen to..and Don't Walk Away is one of his most magical ballads he's ever done. EVER. It's such a magical song.

As far as Invincible, Heartbreaker, BOD and 2000 Watts being filler? No way, I'd say Invincible and Heartbreaker are good songs, they aren't his greatest but still good. Break of Dawn and 2000 Watts are GREAT songs IMO.

Invincible is a very different album from what he had done in the past, you know he really made that album have a very futuristic sound to it, but I love it, you just have to give it some more listens IMO. I'm not so sure if it's an album that at a first listen you will completely fall in love with, but it will grow on you IMO

The whole Invincible era is one of my favorite era because its when I first started getting into him...I remember seeing YRMW on TV when I was 12 and going "Whoa....he's amazing!" ..

I agree totally. I'm crazy about Don't Walk Away. :wild:

Yeahh, I agree again. I didn't like so much when I heard for the first time. But one day I listen to Invincible over and over again and I thinked ''OMG The vocals are great!'' And I passed love it.

Am I the only one that likes Privacy? I admit, I really did not like it at first...but i think it's quite good....I just think the chorus could have been a bit more exciting...

It's Ok I think, his vocals are pretty awesome in it, but it's a bit of a weak song though IMO

Haven't read the discussion, but I'm happy "Yes" is winning! *runs away*

Yeah, I don't think it's a strong song by any stretch of the imagination..but i don't despise it...

I usually like longer albums. I like getting my moneys worth and I like that MJ used to try and fit as many songs as possible onto every new album.

But with Invincible, it didn't work. The weaker songs drag down the pace of the album. The first half is pretty solid, everything from Unbreakable - Speechless. It all seems to go off the rails in the second half. There's no flow, it goes from a futuristic N Sync sounding song (2000 Watts), to a ballad, to a 90's-sounding media-hating song, then another ballad, then Cry (which is just a poor mans MITM)... that whole section of the album really drags it down overall.

Cut that part of the album, keeping only YAML, add on Escape and We've Had Enough and Invincible would be so much better.

This would be my ideal Invincible:

1. Unbreakable
2. Heartbreaker
3. Invincible
4. Break Of Dawn
5. Heaven Can Wait
6. YRMW
7. Butterflies
8. Speechless
9. Escape
10. You Are My Life
11. We've Had Enough
12. The Lost Children
13. Whatever Happens
14. Threatened

That is so much better to me.
