If MJ 'had' a Childhood

Nah, i reckon he'd be the same. Some people are just predisposed to be the way they are and although a lot of formation of character comes during the pre teen years, I do believe the teen years can be more formative in terms of character predisposition.

I think his problems during adolescence (acne, isolation - especially this) ultimately formed and moulded him more (in terms of his "shyness" and general personality and outlook) than his childhood "problems".

I often think that when he said he had "lost his childhood", there was always an element of truth to what he was saying. But more cryptically and i think more to the essence of what he meant, was that he had literally lost his childhood - he was an adult now. And i think this search for childhood and childlike elements and qualities was what was in his opinion, the way to best live and creatively operate (at least to his personal understanding).
