Iconic artist PRINCE passes away at age 57

There had been reports they had found the p. Painkiller in his system and a low red blood count but the report didnt get picked up and went off the radar so i guess it wasnt legit

So it begins...

Prince's Estate Receives First Paternity Claim

A man claiming to be the biological son of Prince has come forward.
Carlin Q. Williams filed paperwork in a Minnesota probate court today, in which he requested DNA testing.

His also petitioned to be determined as the late singer's "the sole surviving heir."
Prince died late last month at the age of 57, and afterward, his sister, Tyka Nelson, filed paperwork stating that she did not believe he had a will. As a result, Bremer Trust has been appointed to manage the music legend's estate.

Last Friday, a judge authorized Bremer Trust to have Prince's blood genetically analyzed should any possible heir present him or herself. In an affidavit filed today, Williams' mother, Marsha Henson, claimed that she met Prince in July of 1976 at a hotel in Kansas City, Missouri. Shortly thereafter, she claimed in the affidavit, they had sexual intercourse and conceived a son.

Nine months later, she gave birth to Carlin Q. Williams on April 8, 1977, she added.

Williams is currently serving time in federal prison in Colorado for weapons transport, according to federal court records obtained by ABC.

^^this guy and the other 700 "relatives" need to be charged for the DNA testing.
No such thing as 'Billie Jeans" anymore since we have DNA!!

Oh my god. Makes a whole lot of sense to have the DNA testing done it will get rid of lots of these so call relatives (700) Whatever happen to get a job why when somebody dies ppls claim to be that person relatives. (shaken my head) nobody want to work.

Also the picture of the so call son doesn't even look like Prince this ex Marsha Henson is trying to get a part of the pie too.

This is about to get ugly sad to see too. If a will was to appear right now that would change this whole picture.

There had been reports they had found the p. Painkiller in his system and a low red blood count but the report didnt get picked up and went off the radar so i guess it wasnt legit

And you know why that happen Andrew the doctor son had medications that was going to be given to the doctor there in Minn so that why you have that made up story they trying to say it was giving to Prince. The doctor lawyer has really open up this investigation. and the media and the news channels are running with it.

^^I read yesterday that the police are trying to downplay and get the public off this story. Apparently fueled by the gossip rags.

Just read new interview with Gene Simmons in Yahoo News that I can't post since I'm on a phone.
He just said "Bowie's death was tragic, Prince's death was pathetic." Spreading the speculation gossip. Of course.

Also said Prince left Michael in the dust.

He's pathetic. Don't think he got over Diana's relationship with Michael either.

Who cares what's that irrelevant, racist has-been's opinion about anything?

How Prince and Michael Jackson led parallel lives

160505173803-prince-mj-split-exlarge-169.jpg

(CNN)Prince and Michael Jackson.
They were born the same year and rose to colossal fame in the 1980s. Each defined a sound for a generation. They were both committed musicians who helped to integrate the world of mainstream music videos.
Prince and Jackson were intensely private, almost otherworldly. They often retreated into their homes, which were really compounds that let them close off the world.
In life, their careers seemed to track, but rarely touch, one another. Were they friends? Not really. Were they rivals? Not really.
In death -- Prince last month, Jackson in 2009 -- the two are finally more closely linked in one way: Their deaths were shocking, untimely and tragic.

The shy guy and the bad boy

Jackson and Prince had very different starts.
Soft-spoken and childlike, Michael Jackson came from a large family of entertainers as famous as he was. He was -- initially -- devoutly Jehovah Witness.
Prince, born Prince Rogers Nelson, was a child of divorce who shared a love of music with both his jazz artist parents and his sister Tyka Nelson.
Jackson grew up in the spotlight in Los Angeles, a child TV star known by millions. Prince grew up in Minneapolis, a shy, musical child who played in the local dance band, Grand Central, in seventh grade.
"I was born here, unfortunately," a then-teenaged Prince told his school newspaper about his band in 1976. "I think it is very hard for a band to make it in this state, even if they're good. I really feel that if we would have lived in Los Angeles or New York or some other big city, we would have gotten over by now."
Prince would eventually sign a record deal at the age of 18.
By the time Jackson was 18, he and his brothers were releasing their 13th studio album, "The Jacksons," and MJ was just a few years from going solo.
Jackson was the reigning King of Pop courtesy of his "Thriller" album, when Prince's "Purple Rain" film and soundtrack began to soar in 1984.
Prince had already found fame with his "1999" album and was being called "the new Jimi Hendrix" for his talent as a guitarist. His lyrics were suggestive and he was as sexually in your face as Jackson was clean cut.
Steven Hyden is the author of "Your Favorite Band Is Killing Me: What Pop Music Rivalries Reveal About the Meaning of Life." In an interview last week he said Jackson and Prince both denied that there was ever any real rivalry between them, though they were both extremely competitive.
"I think that they did motivate each other," Hyden said. "They were both such outsized personalities and for both of them playing into the rivalry was good PR."
Especially for Jackson.
In the 1980s, a story made the rounds that Prince declined to participate with Jackson and many other stars in the charity recording of the song "We Are The World." "Michael Jackson looked like a saint and Prince looked like a guy who didn't care about starving children," Hyden said.
Jackson's sound was pure pop pleasure that also showcased his R&B background.
Every single on "Thriller" was radio friendly and featured Jackson's breathy singing style. That and the accompanying music videos showcasing Jackson's distinctive dance style had fans everywhere attempting to Moon Walk.
In contrast Prince's music was more risque, to say the least. With lyrics about condoms and women "masturbating with a magazine," Prince alternated between sexy croons and screaming falsettos -- while shredding on the guitar and doing splits in heels.
They were each energetic showmen who drew comparisons to the hardest working man in showbiz who they once joined onstage together -- James Brown.
And as their careers rose, the 1980s were giving birth to another phenomenon: MTV.
Early videos on the first 24-hour cable music channel featured very few artists of color.
Jackson was the first to kick the music video door open. His stylized videos for "Thriller" were like mini-movies and soon became some of the most popular on MTV. Prince's "Purple Rain" videos likewise helped blaze the trail for other artists of color to be seen around the world.

Savvy businessmen

Both artists were savvy businessmen, but they took different approaches to mega-stardom.
Jackson snapped up the Beatles song catalog and ultimately made millions off it. He knew how important record sales were to his success as a pop star.
"Thriller" remains one of the best selling albums of all time. In 2015 it became the first album to go platinum 30 times, and Jackscon was credited with more than 1 billion album sales during his career.
Prince was less conventional in how he dealt with the business.
Kim Berry, his hairstylist of almost 30 years, told CNN he loved going around record labels to show he didn't need them to get his tunes out. Once he distributed CDs in Sunday newspapers.
Well before Spotify or Tidal, Prince started the NPG Music Club, a monthly online music subscription service.
He famously scrawled "Slave" on his face while locked in a dispute with his record label and fought hard for the rights to his master recordings.
Prince, who sold more than 100 million records in his lifetime, made some records that were decidedly not big sellers.
"Michael Jackson was a person who openly courted commercialism. He wanted to sell records," Hyden said. "Then you had Prince, who had 'Purple Rain' and then puts out these records after that were not very commercial."

Fans mourn

In the end, their lives and careers were in very different places, but both died surrounded by tragedy and mystery.
When Jackson died of acute propofol and benzodiazepine intoxication, his career had been stained by earlier accusations that he molested boys. Jackson vehemently denied that he was a pedophile, and in 2005 he was found not guilty of 14 criminal charges connected to accusations he had molested a boy.
At the time of his death Jackson was poised to start a tour that was supposed to be his comeback and help pull him out of debt. Instead he suffered cardiac arrest at the hands of his doctor in an attempt to get sleep.
It's not yet known what caused Prince's death.
The Bad Boy, known for his raunchy lyrics and love affairs, had publicly transformed himself into a devout Jehovah Witness -- ironically, the religion of Jackson's youth. Prince told Rolling Stone magazine last year that he was celibate.
In the weeks since Prince's death, people who loved his music struggle to come to terms with reports that opiate drugs may have played a part in his death.
Like Jackson, his death also came amid a tour: Prince died one week after performing two shows as part of his "Piano & A Microphone Tour" in Atlanta.
The deaths of two big music industry celebs at such a young age naturally draws comparisons. But when the pair is Prince and Michael Jackson, who had so much talent and so much in common, the grief burns as red hot as did their stars.

Prince's home was searched again.

Report: Federal Authorities Searching Paisley Park

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — More than a dozen cars led by investigators entered Paisley Park Tuesday evening, where sources tell CBS News a search is underway.

The vehicles were led by the Carver County Sheriff’s Department, though most were unmarked.
A lawyer said the Minnesota musician had agreed to an intervention for painkiller addiction hours before his death,

The Los Angeles Times reported
Tuesday that Prince was seen by Minneapolis doctor Michael Schulenberg the day before he died. They claim he performed some tests and went to Paisley Park to drop of those results. When he arrived on the morning of the 21st investigators were already on the scene and Prince was dead.

Dr. Schulenberg is no longer employed at North Memorial Clinic in Minnetonka.

In late April, a judge approved the Carver County sheriff’s request to seal the search warrant and any accompanying documents surrounding investigations into Prince’s death.

That means we won’t know exactly what law enforcement was looking for when they searched Paisley Park shortly after Prince was found dead.

Numerous reports suggest law enforcement did find prescription pain pills in their search.

Prince was found unresponsive in an elevator at his Paisley Park studio complex on Thursday, April 21. He was declared dead shortly thereafter. He was 57.

Warrant: Minnesota doctor saw Prince, prescribed drugs

CHANHASSEN, Minn. (AP) — A Minnesota doctor saw Prince twice in the month before his death — including the day before he died — and prescribed him medication, according to contents of a search warrant that were revealed Tuesday as authorities returned to the musician's suburban Minneapolis estate as part of their investigation into what killed him.

Dr. Michael Todd Schulenberg treated Prince on April 7 and April 20, and he prescribed medications for the musician, according to the warrant, which was obtained by at least two news outlets before authorities moved to ensure it was sealed.

Investigators interviewed Schulenberg and searched a suburban Minneapolis hospital where he worked. The warrant did not specify what medications were prescribed or whether Prince took them.

Schulenberg's attorney, Amy Conners, declined to comment late Tuesday, citing patient confidentiality.

A law enforcement official has told The Associated Press that investigators are looking into whether Prince died from an overdose and whether a doctor was prescribing him drugs in the weeks before his death. The law enforcement official has been briefed on the investigation and spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media.
Schulenberg is the second doctor whose name has surfaced in the investigation. Last week, a lawyer for California addiction specialist Dr. Howard Kornfeld told reporters that Prince's representatives had contacted Kornfeld seeking help a day before the superstar was found dead on April 21.

On Tuesday, a sheriff's car and about a dozen unmarked vehicles entered the gates of Paisley Park. Asked what investigators were doing, Carver County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Jason Kamerud told the AP that they were "being thorough."

Kamerud declined to answer questions about the warrant that names Schulenberg, saying it was supposed to be sealed.

Kamerud also said that after the contents were made public, he contacted a court administrator to ensure the warrant was sealed.

The warrant was carried out last Thursday at North Memorial Medical Center in the Minneapolis suburb of Robbinsdale.

Lesa Bader, a spokeswoman for North Memorial Medical Center, said Schulenberg was a primary care physician at its Minnetonka clinic but that he no longer works for the health care system. She declined to say why. No one answered the door at the doctor's home on Tuesday and phone messages left for him weren't returned.

Schulenberg's April 7 treatment of Prince came the day he canceled shows in Atlanta citing illness. Prince played makeup shows April 14. During his return home on April 15, his plane made an emergency stop in Moline, Illinois. The law enforcement official who spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity said Prince was found unconscious on the plane and that first responders gave him a shot of Narcan, which is used in suspected opioid overdoses.

Schulenberg told a detective that he was dropping off some results of tests that had been performed on Prince when he came upon the death scene, according to the warrant. Schulenberg also told the detective that he had prescribed Prince "medications" with the prescription to be filled at a Walgreen's.

The warrant sought "any and all medical records, documents, reports, charts, photographs, prescriptions, doctor notes and medical images for Prince Rogers Nelson."

The warrant also notes an interview with Kirk Anthony Johnson, a Paisley Park staff member and sometime drummer for Prince, who told another detective that Prince had visited the Highway 212 Medical Center not far from Paisley Park for "an illness" in 2014 or 2015. Johnson told the detective that Prince had been given fluids during the visit.

Carver County previously released a log of 911 calls to Paisley Park that showed a 53-year-old man, apparently dehydrated, taken to Highway 212 Medical Center in 2013. That man's age was given as 53; Prince would have been 55 at the time. A hospital spokeswoman said earlier she couldn't provide any information on patients due to privacy laws.

The people who found Prince dead included Kornfeld's son, Andrew Kornfeld, who had taken a redeye flight the night of April 20 but did not meet with Prince before his death.

The Kornfelds' attorney, William Mauzy, said last week that Dr. Kornfeld sent his son because he could not immediately fly to Minnesota. Mauzy said Dr. Kornfeld arranged for Prince to be evaluated by a Minnesota physician on April 21. The attorney refused to identify the Minnesota doctor, and it's not clear whether the physician was Schulenberg.

According to the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice website, Schulenberg has not been subjected to any disciplinary or corrective action in Minnesota or other states. He's a 1995 graduate of the Oregon Health Sciences University School of Medicine. His license status is listed as active. It expires Oct. 31 of this year.

The site lists no self-reported criminal convictions. State law requires the board to post felonies and gross misdemeanors that happened after July 1, 2013, in any state.

Timeline of key events in last 2 weeks of Prince's life

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- A Minnesota doctor saw Prince twice in the month before his death - including the day before he died - and prescribed him medication, according to contents of a search warrant. Authorities are investigating what killed the musician.

Some key events in the last two weeks of Prince's life:

April 7 - Dr. Michael Schulenberg, a Minnesota primary care physician, sees Prince, according to the search warrant. Also, two Prince concerts in Atlanta are postponed. The artist said at the time he had fallen ill with the flu.

April 14 - Prince performs makeup concerts in Atlanta, apologizing to fans. He jokes about having been "under the weather," giving a slight smile. His voice seems a bit weak at times while speaking, but sounds fine when singing during his 80-minute show.

April 15 - Prince falls ill on a flight home from Atlanta, and the plane makes an emergency stop in Moline, Illinois. A law enforcement official who spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media said that Prince was found unconscious on the plane and that first responders gave him a shot of Narcan, an antidote used to reverse suspected opioid overdoses.

April 16 - Prince hosts a dance party at his Paisley Park complex and makes a brief appearance, showing off a new purple piano. "Wait a few days before you waste any prayers," he tells fans.

April 20 - Prince is seen by Schulenberg again, according to the warrant. At some point, Schulenberg prescribed medications to Prince and ordered tests, according to the warrant, which does not specify what medications were prescribed or whether Prince took them.

April 20 - Dr. Howard Kornfeld, a California addiction specialist, is asked by Prince representatives to help the star, according to Kornfeld attorney William Mauzy. Kornfeld sends his son, a non-physician, on a red-eye flight to Minnesota, carrying a drug used to treat opiate addiction.

April 21 - Andrew Kornfeld and others find Prince unresponsive in an elevator at Paisley Park. Schulenberg arrived "on the death scene" at some point, according to the warrant. He tells a detective he was there to drop off test results, and that he had prescribed medications that were to be filled at a Walgreen's pharmacy.

I actually do believe that they were friends. A lot of people has this kinda all or nothing mentality. Either they were best friends or worst foes, when the truth lies somewhere in between. They were friends who respected each other craft.

Before performing DSTYGY Prince said "I want to do this one for my friend right now"

Michael spoke to Prince several times on the phone

Michael hanged out in Paisley Park with Prince and Sheila E after his concert in Minneapolis

Prince about Michael's passing "It's always sad to lose someone you love"

Prince when asked about Michael's passing in 2014 "I can't answer that now. I'm still too close to it"

Prince had a heartfelt 2 hour phone conversation with Tavis about Michael's passing and what he meant to him

Prince has called Michael a genius and Michael has called prince a genius.

Prince told one of MJ's nephews that he has always liked MJ's voice.

Prince castigated Tatiana in a club about something she said in an interview about MJ in 93

Prince said that we shouldn't condemn Michael and give him the benefit of a doubt and wait until after the trial & and he banned people who talked bad about MJ on Prince.org during the trial

I don't believe for a second that they weren't friends.

Having respect and true appreciation for each other does not make people friends.. I think we would have wanted them to be friends so we believe it. Will.i.am who worked with both of them has stated MJ said "We've always been at odds with each other."... Will would not really have an incentive to make that up.. he does not gain or lose anything from that statement.. No question the two thought each other were great talents and admired each other for obvious reasons.

I don't think they were either friends or enemies. They respected and appreciated each other artistically. MJ admired Prince's instrument playing, Prince admired MJ's singing. I think he once commented on how he liked MJ's voice. And he obviously liked some of his songs too since he covered them in concerts. I think they also had some common ground in undestanding certain things about the industry that only they could understand. But a friendship it was not. Friends get together in their spare time just to hang out and stuff. I don't think MJ and Prince ever had that relationship.

Simple Definition of friendship

: the state of being friends : the relationship between friends

: a friendly feeling or attitude : kindness or help given to someone

Friendship for most people is a combination of affection, loyalty, love, respect, and trust

They both admired each other, they both talked to each other, MJ sent prince bootlegs, Prince called MJ his friend, Prince defended MJ during his darkest days.

To me that constitutes some kind of friendship between them. Not even MJ's supposedly "closest friends" defended him during the trial.

They both respected each other and pushed each other to be even better. They didn't necessarily have to be friends in order to do that. To me they're more like two geniuses facing the same challenges and problems. And each of them dealt with them in his own way. They both were really famous at the same time, so there was a friendly 'battle' to push oneself to one's limits (which is good and constructive), they really understood the music industry and tried to maintain as much executive power as possible b/c they realized that it's the artists who make the company, not the other way round. They both had to deal with the media, they both were born in the same year so they maybe shared some thoughts on growing up, political and social issues etc.

I think they just had a lot in common, so they shared certain things. I don't think it was a friendship in a way that they constantly kept in touch or something like that. But they sort of shared a certain part of their lives because they dominated the music industry back then.

It's this respect for each other that is so often missing nowadays. Even if you aren't close friends with someone, you still should be able to acknowledge his or her success nevertheless. It was like that in the good old days and I think this is something they definitely had in common. The love of music, the respect for talent and the acknowledgment of success, regardless of their current chart position or sales figures. If it's good music, it's good music. And there aren't many artists nowadays who stick to those principles, which makes Michael and Prince even more special.

Honestly, about 50% of Prince's death has been centered around bashing MJ.
You cant "honestly" believe that. I didnt post before because his fans were mourning & it would be disrespectul but i reached my breaking point at the supermarket today, all the mags have pronce on the cover overhyping everything. Im sick of hearing about him for 3 weeks straight. he was talented but did nothing for me. I also didnt like his dainty girlish ways and his voice was nails on a chalkboard to me. I have the opposite view of others here, the media is not bashing him, theyre covering for his degenerate destructive lifestyle & trying to whitewash it which is wrong. just tell it like it is.

It has been about 50% MJ bashing though.
Infact most people went out of the way to bash MJ when they could've just praised Prince instead.
The majority of Prince praise I've seen has been at the expense of MJ.
When MJ died no one went out of their way to insult any other artist the way people did MJ for Prince, and I think that's because MJ is the measuring stick, so people didn't have to tear down another artist to praise because MJ was already at the top.
Instead of feeling like they had to validate MJ's talent by belittling other artist people were simply saying MJ was/is the best because MJ didn't require validation.
To me it speaks volumes for MJ that he's the measuring stick for other legends. :)

As for the media coverage of Prince I personally have seen very little of it on television, a large amount of media about Prince's death is online, but I do agree that's he's being overhyped right now (which I would have NO problem with if so much of the hype wasn't at MJ's expense).
He was great (one of the best) but he wasn't on the same level as MJ (no one was/is).

Lastly, I have no problem with Prince's "dainty girlish ways".
Prince was happy with being "dainty and girlish" as you call it and that's all that matters. :)

News reports in the uk were the same. There were many articles that brought mj into them when the story had no connection to him just inorder to belittle mj. There were numerous articles and t.v reports that talked about the 85 grammies.an event that never even happened.someone made that up and spread it around in an effect to big up prince and down play mj. If i were a prince fan i would be peed off at the press actions in their feelings that they need to bring mj into everything.its insulting to princes success and an insult to use what hap to prince to insult mj. I guess the media couldnt resist. Prob be the same when madge dies

Sorry-I had to laugh too. Somebody's been READING some of those supermarket tabloids.

I got this feeling went those reports come back we still may not know what cause Prince death the Minn police may still want to have it seal to much infor out there now.and it really not come from the TB. The articles in this thread kind of give you a idea of what might have happen to Prince. But we will see if those reports come out that imo.
