How Many Of You Are Jackson 5/Jacksons Fans?

You can't be a Jackson fan/stan without loving the music that began the dynasty.

That's exactly what I think. When I say I'm a Michael Jackson fan that includes his whole career which obviously includes the Jackson 5 and The Jacksons. As Jermaine said, Michael's success as a solo arists comes from the legacy of the Jackson 5.

I don't know how you couldn't like Michael's solo albums from Off The Wall and not like the music of the Jackson 5 and especially The Jacksons which has Michael's adult vocals and the first songs he ever wrote/compsed like Blues Away.

I just don't understand. Most times when an artist goes solo some of their music sounds like an extension of the group's music. So to not like it is odd.

And that's exactly why I don't understand when ppl say there wouldn't be a Janet if there wasn't a Michael. They all rode off the success of the Jackson 5.

Well guess what Jermaine means that the Jackson 5 was the launching pad that made Michael's solo success possible as, as in being signed to a music label, and people knowing the name Michael Jackson because that's were Michael started. Michael eventually evolved and being in a group did restrict his talent and potential dominate music in the mid 1970's.

Even though Michael was always very advanced and professional as a singer and dancer as kid, I always view his time with the Jackson 5 and solo albums at Motown as Michael's apprenticeship. And his time with The Jacksons at Epic from with the self-titled album The Jacksons, Goin Places and Destiny as the build up to Michael putting himself together for his as a pure solo artist. When I listen to the Destiny album (a brilliant and underrated album, which I think is one of the best albums of the 1970's), I see that as Michael's practice run for Off The Wall, as Michael said in his autobiography that he wrote Working Day And Night for the Destiny album, but held it back as he thought his brother may not like it (I doubt that), and thought it would be a good song for a solo album. All the Aoaws and Hees Hees are on that album, and Michael's streamlined vocals are practically perfected on that album.

I understand completely, idk how pple cant get n2 them lol! when i was a child from like 2-12 i was strictly michael jackson,i didnt give a rats about the j5/jacksons stuff. i mean sure i watched the jacksons an american dream all the time between then lol,but i only watched it 4 the michael segments. When i turned 13 my grandfather gave me soooooo much jackson5/jackson material i didnt know what to do,so i just put it in a box lol. One day I got grounded and all of my michael stuff was taken away from me,so i went under my bed and pulled out my box where i stowed away the jackson5.jacksons stuff and began reading and listening to the music. i was blown away and how great it was. from then on i couldnt/and still cant live w/o the jacksons/j5 music. its awesome and mike was just superb!

I love the Jacksons, I like the J5 era but the Jacksons era was off the chain.. such hits like:
let me show you the way to go
time waits for no one
your ways
blame it on the boogie
...lord knows i can listen to those everyday... wait i do listen to those everyday..lmaoo.. Nothing will ever top the Victory Tour in my opinion.. I loved Bad Tour but seeing MJ and his brothers sing was just mind blowing..

I think the Jacksons is better than J5.
I don't really like little Michael's voice, I like his voice after it's fully developed :p

According to average comments I see here, the other brothers are useless and have no talent and just held Mike back. The group fans tends to be older people who were around when they were releasing records. Also, they're not as likely to be playing around on a computer, lol.

ahh i hate those type of comments. I was after j5 and and was 3 when they did Victory. err.., but even when i got older it was always equally J5 / The Jacksons / solo Michael. I loved it all. the dances the brothers did together..the moves Michael did alone.. Jermaines voice ..Michaels voice..J5 music / Michaels music. the brothers had talents as well that i wish some fans would look at. Didn't Tito say Michael could not even hold a guitar and try to dance at the same time. but yea.
The J5, Jacksons era is part of why i love Michael.

Michael's voice when he was in the Jacksons was outstanding! So soulful and smooth. When I listen to songs like "Show You The Way To Go", "Find Me A Girl", "Keep On Dancing",etc. I'm always amazed by the tone, range and soulfulness of his voice.

Ha, nice story. I can understand not being into them when you were younger. I was the same way. I didn't care too much about the J5/Jacksons when I was younger, but as I got older I started to appreciate them. I just don't get how people who are big MJ fans don't like J5 or the Jacksons. Like how is that even possible? lol. I feel like you have to appreciate where it all started. Some of the material Michael made with his brothers is just as good as his solo stuff.

Singing LIVE, please take note of how MJ ad-libbed on Blame It On The Boogie and Show You the Way to Go..
I was only 2 when they did this tour, man what I wouldn't give to go back in time and be that chick on the front row.. Man Michael would've gotten it, big time.. Joe would've been screaming for security..lmaooo

I am a huge fan of the jacksons !!!! Their music is so great....for me "Destiny" and "Triumph" are masterpieces, I really love Goin' places and in The jacksons album, Blues away, cauz it is the first track arranged by Michael...

For me Victory is not really a brothers album, just an album with compositions made by each brother put in one cd, in this disc they were not a group, but State of shock, Torture and the beautiful Be not always are so good (& Body too ^^)

I really hope that one day we will listen to unreleased demos or destiny/triumph era cauz they were simply the best group at this time....

Best reguards

LOL!!
I love watching this concert from the tour as well. Michael and his brothers were just amazing. My sister came in while I was watching it one time, and she fell in love with show you the way to go, lol. She had never heard it before. I love the blame it on the boogie performance too,& his dancing at the end-he was really feeling it!! And the ad-lids on those two that you mentioned are amazing. I always thought he had the best ad-libs. Too bad I wasn't alive during this tour!! lol

I feel like so much of their stuff are 'masterpieces', and alot of ppl don't know about it, and it's a real shame casue they are missing out sooo much
And with the unreleased and demos, OH YES, lol. I would go craaazy if some of that stuff came out one day, lol
