George Michael

Hey, jamgirl!

Yeah, I'm totally blown away by his performance!

I was talking to a friend earlier (he attended the concert, too) and he told me you shared my post with other members on GM forum. Cool, I was so surprised to hear that! Can you give me the link, please? I'd like to see what's going on there. LOL, am I getting addicted? Umm...lol... Btw, my friend also shared some photos he took during the concert with the members of GM forum. He said they loved the pics he posted there.

Yeah, he dedicated those songs to them. I didn't even know about that. As for the song Jesus To A Child - made me sad when I heard it. He dedicated the song to his boyfriend who died of AIDS, right? When I heard the song knowing about the story behind it, it felt so different...it gave such different meaning/feeling to that song, gave such a deep, touching, special tone to it. You can feel the sadness and the emotion.

Enjoy some pics! :wild:  ;)

Jesus to A Child was written for his boyfriend that died in 1993 of AIDS. :flowers:

And 'Amazing' and a song called 'American Angel' was written for his current partner of 11 years, Kenny Goss. :)

Michael makes history at Wembley

George Michael has become the first singer to perform at the new Wembley Stadium, nearly seven years after the last concert there.
He performed hits from his Wham! days and his solo career as part of the first of two shows at the iconic venue.

The north London-born singer said it was an "amazing honour". "I have felt a huge association with Wembley from when I was a child," he told reporters.

"People can expect one of the best shows they have ever seen," he added.

The gig comes a day after he was sentenced to 100 hours of community service for driving while unfit.

Asked how that had affected his preparations, he replied: "Not at all, not in the slightest. It's just nice to have it out of the way."

The singer said the first show was an "enormous honour"
Magistrates also disqualified the 43-year-old from driving for two years, after he was found slumped behind the wheel of his Mercedes in October 2006.

He appeared at Brent Magistrates' Court in north London on Friday.

He previously admitted the offence, saying he was guilty due to tiredness and prescription drugs.

Michael is no stranger to Wembley, having played with Wham! at 1985's Live Aid concert and as a solo artist, most recently at 1999's Net Aid show.

The UK leg of his European 25 Live 2007 tour also includes stadium shows in Norwich, Manchester, Glasgow and Plymouth.

Rock bands Muse and Metallica are also playing the rebuilt Wembley this summer, which will also play host to Concert for Diana - featuring Sir Elton John and Duran Duran - and Live Earth, which will include Madonna and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Bon Jovi were the last act to play at Wembley in August 2000, before the old stadium was torn down as part of a £757m redevelopment.

They were due to re-open Wembley last summer, but construction delays meant the new stadium did not open for business until March.

Bon Jovi will now be the first band to play a full show at the O2 arena - the former Millennium Dome - on 24 June.

BUMP !!!!

Havent bumped my Yog thread in a while.

Tour finished in August,

GM has a TV show, and a tour for the US in the fall/winter.

Hopefully he'll get married next year to Mr. Goss

He has an art gallery and art collection George's Art Collection

He's just getting some R&R at his Dallas, Texas home now. :D

Hi dear, maybe you can help me with this: Do you know where I can download George Michael ringtones? I just got a new mobile phone and want to use or create one for my Yog.

Thanks!

Sandra (member of georgemichaelforums too)

GM update !!!

He recently performed in NYC at a charity event.

His was in the Extras finale Sunday on HBO :D

Eli Stone starts in January on ABC

He's done a cover of one of my favorite tracks, Stevie Wonder's "Another Star". There's multiple videos of him performing it in concert. He also did "As" with Mary J. Blige. Both songs were originally on Stevie's "Songs In The Key Of Life".

He's covered lots of Stevie songs. Off the top of my head there's "They Won't Go When I Go" (from Listen Without Predjudice) & "Love's In Need Of Love Today" (b-side of "Father Figure").

I'm not a fan and I have nothing against him. I think George Michael has great voice, but music is bland. But his Wham song Wham Rap is one of favorite childhood songs and it was released when I was 11yrs old so I have some respect for him.

What can you say about the man.. Probably the biggest influence in my life (even if Mike came first)...

I'm not a fan of George Michael, but i had the opportunity to hear some of his music and he has a beautiful voice:D

The "Live in London" DVD just came out. It's totally AWESOME. Crisp quality and magical performances. GM is mesmerizing. After all these years still one of the best musicians in the industry today.

I give it 10 out of 10. Pure magic.

anyone from Australia that had the chance to see George this year?
I've heard the concerts were amazing, would love to hear some stories from fans ;)

Unfortunately I'm not from Australia, but judging by the videos I've managed to find on youtube the concerts were as brilliant as the ones he gave in Europe and the US. But that was to be expected. Some people posted their experiences over at georgeimchaelforums, I don't know if you are a member there. George supposedly told someone after his performance at Mardi Gras that he's planing another tour, this time with a symphonic orchestra. I'm not putting too much faith in that rumor just yet but it truly is something I'd like to see one day.

I used to love George Michael back in the 80's. After MJ and Prince, he was my 3rd favorite male artist.

It sucks how his career is dead here in the US. We don't hear anything about him.

we only hear about him after he's done something wrong, I hate the media

I know.
I just thought it would be really nice to hear some stories from MJ fans.

I heard about the orchestra performances tour too, and would love - L.O.V.E. for this rumor to be true.

I'm still hoping for some "Final One or Two" of 25Live this year. Please George, change your mind and do one or two more... :)

Always liked George Michael. One of the greatest pop voices. His Wham stuff brings me back to my college years, sitting in the cafeteria between classes. My favorite GM songs are "A different Corner" (I remember playing that song over and over from the record), "One more try", "Father Figure" and "Careless Whisper". I LOVED "Freedom" from the Wham! Make it Big" album (that whole album was awesome).

I just wish I will once in my life have the chance to see George in a live show. I simply love, love, LOVE his voice, his music, his lyrics. What a wonderful voice!!!!! And his songs.... "Older" is by far my favourite album. A real, real, real MASTERPIECE.

And also... all his problems with Fony.... he lived that before Michael and he managed to get out of that Fony in a rather good way. But still, they hurt him and his fans. Remember the last page of the booklet in "Older": "Thank you for waiting".

Waiting... I can give lesson on that by now

His shows in Australia really got great reviews from fans :) I am very much looking for his blue ray!!!! Just to think of his voice.... whoowwwww!!!

FAvourite songs ever?
- Different corner (live)
- You have been loved (makes me cry... 1000% to MJ and Katherine)
- I can't make you love me (unppluged... tears)
- Jesus to a child
- The days of our lives (with Lisa Standfield)
- Fastlove!!!!

etc.... GEORGE MICHAEL IS GREAT!!!
