Drake featuring Michael Jackson (TONIGHT)

Damn, I really hope the song charts high on billboard. Another #1 would be great, but that is just wishful thinking.

The Billboard calculates the chart differently. I've been monitoring each chart, both streaming and downloads for USA, and if the chart were to be calculated the same way as the UK, it would be number one.

Expect the MJ collaboration to be in the top 3 in America, possibly number one. Remember, it is rare (Only happened 31 times in chart history) to hit number one on the first week of release. Most songs peak at their second or third week.

Here's a list of Veteran pop acts with a Top 10 hit in the 2010's (counting re-entries):
Micheal Jackson - 2 (Love Never Felt So Good, Don't Matter To Me)
Prince - 2 (Purple Rain, When Doves Cry)
Madonna - 1 (Give Me All Your Luvin')
Paul McCartney - 1 (FourFiveSeconds)
Mariah Carey - 1 (All I Want For Christmas Is You)
Whitney Houston - 1 (I Will Always Love You)
Nile Rodgers - 1 (Get Lucky)

I've been reading prediction forums, who think it will debut at number 6 and not the top three as I predicted. 6 is still decent.

If Drake pushes it as a single it's a surefire number one.

It will hit #1 at some point. It might take a few weeks. It’s the most popular song on his new album he will push it. A music video will help. This song will do better than LNFSG, Drake is way more popular than JT. It’s a better song imo than LNFSG.

Even a top 10 is brilliant. Remember Don't Matter To Me isn't a single. So for it to even debut in the top 10 is brilliant. Shows MJ's impact. If in the future, Drake decides to release it as a single, then it would have a better chance to go to #1. Really, I'm just happy that MJ will have another top 10 hit in both UK & US. I hope for some longevity on the charts from Don't Matter To Me. I also hope this song will spark an interest in MJ's studio albums.

I think Michael would have listened to one Drake song whilst alive 'Best I Ever Had' hit number 2 before June 2009.

There's a new rule for British charts where only three songs per artist go on the Official Charts. If not, he'd take up the entire top 40. Like Ed Sheeran did last year.

Which is a complete and utter farce and why no one cares about the so called singles chart anymore.

No, this rule is fair. Otherwise top artists like Drake will have most songs in the top 10/20, whenever they release a new album and it won't be fair on the other artists. This rule makes complete sense.

I think this single will be addressed publicly by the estate and Drake tomorrow (July 3rd). Looks like we are heading for a Top 10 debut in both the UK (#3), and in the US. I haven't read any info on the US debut spot but I've heard anywhere between #2 and #9. Time will tell.

You think this song is better than Love Never Felt So Good?? :O

Heard a snippet ie mjs vocals. Sounds like fingers down a blackboard.they distorted his voice so much.

My thoughts exactly...

Well MJ does well on the very few lines he has - even though the vocals are edited a bit too much maybe.

BUT in LNFSG MJ sings a lot, it's a more uplifting and happy song, makes you smile and wanna dance.

Don't Matter To Me is ok, but - not much MJ, it's heavy and sad in some way, Melancolic, and MJ's vocals are edited.

I would choose LNFSG solo version or duet with JT version any day... Much better IMO.

A question for the audio experts.

Can someone hear if the vocals are the same each time MJ comes in or is it from different takes. - I mean are MJ's lines just copy/pasted or are they taken from different takes, can anyone hear?

There is a video already. I have watched it yersterday. Is it just me, or Michael's vocals sound less distorted there?!
The video itself is kind of crappy, with lots of violence (they are fighting over a woman or so, haven't really paid attention. lol) and the song gets interrupted by the action a lot...

Anyways, the track has very good critics so far, some of them stating that Michael's voice makes it worth while.

Can anyone link the official video then?

can someone explain this because now we have two tracks

This is insane - the video is not on youtube anymore. It was a 10min video with lots of action...

Have the Estate said they will give a statement or is it fan speculation? - or a fan started rumour?

Maybe they wanna see how succesful it is before making a statement.
