There will not be peace in this world, as long as too many people succeed in their goals, to mercilessly slaughter anyone who disagrees with their opinions. Say what you will about all the corruption in American politics (and yes, I admit there is a ton of it), but we're nothing compared to Iran, Russia, or Afghanistan. They hate us, mainly because we value freedom of thought and expression over tyrannical anarchy.

There is no hatred towards you in Russia. And even more so hatred for the reasons you listed. There are policies of the USA and Russia, geopolitics and the interests of the two countries do not coincide. Everyone pulls the blanket over themselves.
To gain the support of their citizens, states use the media to direct the thinking of their citizens in the direction they want. That's it.

No disrespect meant to you or your country (perhaps you've had more peaceful experiences than others), but I just skimmed over some of the stuff on this page, and what I read truly concerned me. I'm not saying all of it is true, but if even half applies, then the former USSR is a very dangerous place for average American citizens in general.I don't know this language either
