Do you ever get sad while listening to a particular MJ song?*

I guess for me it's all the environmental songs - even the ones I don't really like (eg Heal The World).

I just think of what he was feeling when he was writing them, and how he was basically powerless and ultimately wasting his time.

I guess in some ways MJ was very naive and misguided - he was doing everything he could to help the world, in the only way he knew how. It makes him very noble and very unique, but looking back now, the songs achieved nothing

Dunno if I explained that very well.

Change consists of many small milestones with a lot of people, and a long time of important work has happened since 1995. I don't think we can judge objectively what impact songs had when millions are involved to whom songs mean different things at different times in life.
To me, Earth Song sparked a lot of my environmental awareness at a crucial point, a path I've achieved a lot in and makes up my social connections and is life defining for how I feel the world.

My sad song atm is Lost Children. It's comforting and beautiful and also makes me take a special time to think of children who were and are still abandoned politically.

Hello! I'm french so sorry if my english is not perfect :) Everyone knows who is Michael Jackson but I really discovered him in depth only two months ago and I FELL IN LOVE with the character! I listened to all his albums and the songs that make me sad are the ones in the 70s and 80s. I feel so nostalgic when I listen to those songs and when I watch the video clips. I feel sad because I see a beautiful and kind soul on my screen and knowing everything that happened to Michael Jackson make me sad. For real. Some people were evil to him and it hurts because he was so pure. So... yeah, long answer but the songs from Off the Wall and Thriller are probably the ones that make me sad because I am an empath person and I feel sorry for him. I truly love him :)

That's true, to some extent. But for all the people who have changed in a positive way, there are far more who have changed in a much more negative way. The environment is getting worse, not better.

Thinking about all the people using AI for pointless nonsense, even though it's responsible for something like 3% of the world's electricity consumption, and a huge amount of water.

Music consumption is another area that's gone backwards - if somebody streamed Earth Song once every day would consume the equivalent of 100 litres of water per month, and emit 200 grams of CO2 per month...

How about cars? How many people are driving a smaller/lighter car, and driving less miles than they did 10 years ago? What's the number - for every 100 miles you drive, you just added 1 mph to the wind speed of the next hurricane. Yet people still do it, knowing the effect it will have on people in FL and NO. That's the definition of selfishness.

It's just another example of an area where people claim they are concerned about something, but their actions say something very different.

That's what makes me sad.

Yes when I drive my car to an important engagement, I explicitly do it to endanger my friends in hurricanes in Florida.

???

There's a few of Michael's songs which have made me feel emotional, like "She's Out of My Life" - I listened to that repeatedly very time my only girlfriend left me. Others include "Someone in the Dark", "Childhood", "Heaven Can Wait", and "You Are My Life".

I had a bad breakup earlier this year, I listened to Dream Away multiple times a day immediately after, and it made me cry each time. Beautiful track, I wish MJ had finished it.

OMG I love that song!!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍 Really wish he would’ve finished it and released it too!!! 😩

There are several MJ songs (or The Jacksons songs) that make me sad, or even literally cry, for different reasons.

Some, because I can relate to them TOO well …..Someone Put Your Hand, That’s What You Get (For Being Polite), Bless His Soul, Destiny, Cry, Will You Be There, Who Is It, Speechless, Fall Again, Much Too Soon,

Some because they remind me of someone or something that happened that now makes me sad….Like, when I went inside of the O2 in London on July 13th during the vigil, I immediately had ”One Day In Your Life” playing in my head and I was literally crying my eyes out!!! 🥲🥲🥲 ”One day in your life, you’ll remember a place”….….”You’ll come back and you’ll look around you, One day in your life, you’ll remember the love you found here”…”And when things fall apart, you’ll remember one day”…. 🥲🥲🥲 I had been SO HAPPY there just 4 months earlier. Like one of the HAPPIEST moments in my life….and then 4 months back I cane back to look around and I could’ve literally collapsed brom the sadness and grief. I almost wasn’t able to even go inside at first because it just felt unbearable and too much to take to face the memories. 🥲🥲🥲 Same goes for Best of Joy and For All Time. They just remind me of the London Press Conference days and I could cry my eyes out for so many reasons every single time. 🥲🥲🥲🥲 Gone Too Soon reminds me of the time when one of my best friends suddenly died when we were 18 yrs old and another friend of mine dying just a couple of years after that. Thst was such a sad, sad time and really hard to take. 🥲🥲🥲 Keep The Faith reminds me of the time when my dad was sick and died only a few years after my friends had just died and it just felt like everyone’s dying and it was SO depressing and EXTREMELY difficult to bear, so I kept blasting that song to keep holding on. 🙏🏻🥲🥲🥲 I mean not that the lyrics overall really fit but to hear Michael’s voice telling you to ”Keep the faith” was extremely comforting during that time and gave me strength to go on. 🙏🏻❤️

And some songs make me sad and cry because they touch me on a human level. Like ”We’ve Had Enough” is truly one of Michael’s BEST songs and SO BEAUTIFULl and tge lyrics ate so RELEVANT that it’s like MJ would’ve time travelled to current day to see what’s going on and then would have gone back to write a song about it!!! 😳 The melody and lyrics are SO BEAUTIFUL!! ❤️

Anyways, just some songs that always make me cry for different reasons. 🥲🫶🏻
