Controversial MJ Documentary Leaving Neverland [GENERAL DISCUSSION THREAD]

I don’t trust the MSN either but these articles are saying the transcripts come from videotapes. So I doubt they’re lying but I’m just confused by his opinion of MJ but still being friends with him.

I need Miko’s to clear this up. Were Brando’s comments taken out of context? Or did he say this as “I know how it might seem” type deals but in the end, he didn’t actually believe it himself? I’m disheartened by this only for how it’ll be spun.

its all clickbait again. poor michael.

what a mad world we are living in. the man is innocent and he always was. when will you finally leave him alone and rest in peace?

I think the Marlon Brando article is just one of those things that the press can rush out and poison the well further - so that when the facts come in, all the minds will be made up already and people will have moved on with the desired conclusion.
It wont work. It just look like desperation of the media. People are sick of it.

Marlon Brando made Michael Jackson cry. The topic: sexuality

https://www.latimes.com/entertainme...onted-michael-jackson-about-sexuality-podcast

By CHRISTIE D’ZURILLASTAFF WRITER
AUG. 29, 2019 6 AM

Marlon Brando spoke voluntarily and candidly with prosecutors about Michael Jackson in 1994, back when the singer was being investigated on allegations of child molestation, a new podcast reveals in its final episode. In a sworn statement, the actor shared details of a dinner conversation he said he had with Jackson that touched on the singer’s relationship with his father as well as his sexuality.

The L.A. County district attorney’s office had gotten wind of a “special relationship” between the singer and the acting icon, who had a son, Miko, working as Jackson’s driver, according to the podcast “Telephone Stories: The Trials of Michael Jackson.”

Jackson supposedly was teaching Brando to dance, and Brando was teaching Jackson about acting. So prosecutors Bill Hodgman and Lauren Weis called the actor in to talk rather than put him in front of a grand jury.

Brandon Ogborn, one of the podcast’s creator-producers, got ahold of a transcript of the Brando interview, dated March 14, 1994, and verified its validity with Weis, who investigated Jackson during her 23 years as a prosecutor with the L.A. County district attorney and is now a judge.

“I was able to review it. It was quite something to view the document and hold it. It felt like it was a hot potato,” Ogborn said Wednesday in an exclusive interview with The Times. “It’s a much longer document than what we report on. ... It’s quite meandering, pretty loosey-goosey — he [Brando] probably would be canceled if he was around now.”

It’s a statement that’s important to the historic record, the podcaster said, and its contents will be revealed when the final “Telephone Stories” episode drops Sunday.

“Brando is different from everyone else who figures into the Jackson investigations,” Ogborn said. “He was a famous actor and rich beyond measure. Unlike other people who have ‘spoken out’ against Jackson, Brando didn’t want or need anything from the pop star, and he offers the D.A. insider information that never came to light.

“He’s also a weirdo, like Michael Jackson. So he’s to me a weirdo who understands another weirdo in a weird world.”

In the episode, which The Times heard in advance, Ogborn reads Brando’s words from the sworn transcript. Brando, who died in 2004, told prosecutors about confronting Jackson during a dinner visit to Neverland Ranch.

“We were talking about human emotions and where it all comes from. I could see from the way he behaved — he talked like that, and he speaks in a very peculiar way for a man who is as old as my oldest son, 35. And he didn’t want me to swear,” the actor said.

“I had asked him if he was a virgin and he sort of laughed and giggled, and he called me Brando,” the actor added. “He said, ‘Oh, Brando.’ I said, ‘Well, what do you do for sex?’ And he was acting fussy and embarrassed.”

Brando said he had asked Jackson if he masturbated, then told prosecutors that the singer “lives in a completely different world.”

The “A Streetcar Named Desire” star also talked with Jackson about what motivates people. Jackson “didn’t hold real emotions,” Brando said, and that affected his ability to act.

“He said he hated his father and started to cry. So I pulled back. I started to tiptoe. I realized that he was in trouble with his life because he was living in a never-never land, and he couldn’t [swear], and for a 35-year-old man not to do that, being around people in show business, seemed very odd,” Brando said.

“And I said, ‘Well, who are your friends?’ He said, ‘I don’t know anybody my own age. I don’t like anybody my own age.’ I said, ‘Why not?’ He said, ‘I don’t know, I don’t know.’ He was crying hard enough that ... I tried to assuage him. I tried to help him all I could.”

Brando told prosecutors he originally thought Jackson was gay but now believed it was “pretty reasonable to conclude that he may have had something to do with kids.”

Jackson, who died in 2009 and would have been 61 today, never publicly defined his sexuality. He was twice investigated on charges of child molestation. He was not charged the first time, but in 2005, he went to trial and was acquitted on all counts.

This is the first time the Brando material has been made public, Ogborn said, as the interview was not used in the singer’s trial.

The improv comedian-turned-podcaster said his pursuit of this Jackson story began after he met attorney Bert Fields, who represented Jackson during the 1993-94 investigation. The lawyer had come to see “TomKat,” a play Ogborn wrote and performed in, about the divorce of Tom Cruise (whom Fields had also represented) and Katie Holmes.

“I thought he was coming to serve me a subpoena or something,” Ogborn said, laughing.

Turns out Fields loved the play, which included mention of the Jackson situation, and they met backstage. That led to an interview, which in turn prompted Ogborn to do other interviews, and an audio docuseries resulted.

By the time the 13-part podcast series was done, Ogborn had talked to 23 people who were involved in the two investigations in some way, including attorney Thomas Mesereau, who represented Jackson in his 2005 trial.

Former Los Angeles Times writer Jim Newton, who covered the early-’90s Jackson investigation for the newspaper, edited the podcast series. The show’s other creator-producer, opera singer Omar Crook, banters with Ogborn in the podcast.

The final episode of “Telephone Stories,” produced by Ninth Planet Audio, drops Sunday on premium podcast platform Luminary. The first 12 episodes are already available.

What starts as a simple question of guilt or innocence quickly turns into a searching chronicle of race, fame and abuse. Drawing on extensive interviews and relying on much-needed humor, Ogborn and co-host Omar Crook interview Jackson’s defense attorneys, the investigators & prosecutors who pursued him, and the writers & tabloid journalists who followed the cases and ferreted out leads. Through those interviews and their ruminations, Ogborn and Crook wander the hall of mirrors that was Jackson’s life, painstakingly, sometimes painfully, reconstructing the complex narrative of an iconic and troubled performer haunted by allegations of criminal perversion.

the only aim should be to find the podcast hosts social media accounts, links to their mails, FB, Twitter and confront them with facts.

the media made them important, media made them relevant, the question is how they were able to find such info, court files, transcripts (and nobody else)... where, how, why MJ as a topic... there are a lot of questions about them.... who they really are...

And I think that's really all we need. Are we gonna believe the media or Taj? Unless they have actual evidence, a actual voice recording of Marlon saying that he believed MJ had something with kids.

If that were the case....wouldn't he have abandoned him in the first place?

What the hell is this rubbish? I think that's the dumbest thing I've read all week. Michael was moved to tears by things most people wouldn't even bat an eyelid over and he held more love than probably anyone else on Earth. You can feel his emotion very strongly in his music.

IF Marlon said this statement, He was a pure fool. If you talk those who met MJ and people around him who also knew him like Q, Diana Ross, Liz, Jane Fonda, Katherine Hepburn, etc they talk abut his sensivity/emotions (very caring). His 'spirit" jump out at you when u met him.

Michael Jackson allegedly cried when Marlon Brando confronted him about child sexual abuse allegations

The public’s fascination with Michael Jackson continues. On what would have been his 61st birthday, it’s being reported that the King of Pop was once confronted by his friend Marlon Brando over the child abuse allegations against him — and Jackson broke down in tears.

The podcast Telephone Stories: The Trials of Michael Jackson touts in a press release that it obtained the sworn account Brando gave to Los Angeles Deputy District Attorneys on March 14, 1994, and that interview — which was recorded and transcribed — will be featured in its season finale on Sunday. In it, Brando reportedly told authorities, “I think it’s pretty reasonable to conclude that [Jackson] may have had something to do with kids.”

The reclusive Oscar winner — a close friend and visitor to Neverland Ranch — had been contacted by the D.A.’s office and spoke with district attorneys Bill Hodgman, of O.J. Simpson trial fame, and Lauren Weis about “an unusual conversation he had with Jackson and his suspicions concerning the King of Pop’s behavior around young boys,” according to the press release. He also relayed “impressions and concerns” he had discussed with his son, Miko C. Brando, who worked as a security guard for Jackson.

Brando detailed a “tear-filled conversation” he had with Jackson at Neverland Ranch, the release states. It reportedly took place after Brando confronted Jackson during a private dinner and acting lesson and it “culminated in a revealing exchange between the two men.” Weis, now a judge, confirmed the interview with Brando about Jackson to the Los Angeles Times.

According to Brando’s documented account, Jackson broke down in tears during the talk and admitted he hated his father, Joe Jackson. The conversation then turned to homosexuality and the children he was accused of sexually abusing, as Jackson had first been investigated for child molestation in 1993. Brando reportedly said that Jackson ended up crying so hard that the superstar had to comfort him.

That’s when Brando told prosecutors, “With this mode of behavior that’s been going on, I think it’s pretty reasonable to conclude that he may have had something to do with kids.”

That said, Brando noted that Jackson never came out and said he was gay or admitted to sexual relations with the boys. Instead, he kept crying and was so shaken by the conversation that Brando thought he was telling him something.

“My impression, was that he didn’t want to answer because he was frightened to answer me,” Brando said.

Brando also reportedly told the D.A. that the childlike Jackson never cursed and didn’t like when people used the F word. He was especially uncomfortable when being asked about his sex life.

“I had asked him if he was a virgin and he sort of laughed and giggled, and he called me Brando,” the actor told prosecutors. “He said, ‘Oh, Brando.’ I said, ‘Well, what do you do for sex?’ And he was acting fussy and embarrassed.”

Brando also asked, “Well, who are your friends?’ He said, ‘I don’t know anybody my own age. I don’t like anybody my own age.’ I said, ‘Why not?’ He said, ‘I don’t know, I don’t know.’ He was crying hard enough that ... I tried to assuage him. I tried to help him all I could.”

This is the first time the conversation between Brando and Jackson has been made public because it was never used as evidence in Jackson’s 2005 trial — which resulted in the pop star’s acquittal. Brando died in 2004 followed by Jackson in 2009.

After Brando’s death, his son Miko told the L.A. Times his dad counted the pop star among his closest friends in his final years.

"The last time my father left his house to go anywhere, to spend any kind of time, it was with Michael Jackson. He loved it,” Miko said. “[He] had a 24-hour chef, 24-hour security, 24-hour help, 24-hour kitchen, 24-hour maid service. Just carte blanche.”

Miko said that the men met through “Quincy Jones back in the 1980s.”

—————————————————————

According to this, Michael cried so hard that Marlon Brando had to try and calm him down. So which is it anyway? That Michael was a terrible actor or that he actually was really upset? And wouldn’t a sensitive person like Michael cry or want to cry if they were accused (and innocent), of a horrible crime like that and someone is asking them questions like the other person thinks they did it? It doesn’t mean they’re guilty. I mean what the......?

"'What do you do for sex?"" Who the F asks something like that?! Maybe it's just me, but that seems like a really weird thing to bring up in conversation, especially to word it that way. (And if he was a virgin at the time of that conversation, so what? People are allowed to be virgins and it's not a big deal.)

Should MTV Drop Michael Jackson’s Name From VMA Award? Wyclef, Naughty by Nature Weigh in
Elizabeth Wagmeister
August 30, 2019 9:52AM PDT

The Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, which is arguably the VMAs’ highest honor, was shrouded with controversy this year, long before the show even happened. In the weeks leading up to Sunday night’s show, rumor had it that MTV would drop Jackson’s name from the honor, following the cloud cast over his legacy after HBO aired the docuseries, “Leaving Neverland,” which showcases two men reviving allegations of childhood sexual abuse against the singer (the Jackson estate is suing HBO over the film).

While Jackson’s name officially remained on the award — as confirmed by a press release announcing Missy Elliott as this year’s recipient — his name was rarely mentioned during the broadcast and in promos. However, Elliott did say during her acceptance speech, “The Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award means so much to me” and also thanked MJ’s sister, Janet Jackson.

But how did artists at the show feel about the issue? Variety caught up with two of them before the show, Wyclef Jean — who worked with Jackson briefly on a recording session in 1997 for a remix of a track, which never saw the light of day — and Naughty by Nature, and asked whether they felt the singer’s name should be removed from the Video Vanguard Award.

Jean said that it’s unfair to penalize the late singer unless allegations against him are proven. “At the end of the day, I feel unless someone is there to defend themselves, [unless] something is proven in the court, it’s just hard for me,” Jean said, walking the red carpet with his wife and daughter. “At the end of the day, I feel like if the person is not here to defend themselves, my opinion is going to be based on my family.”

Jean has previously spoken about Jackson’s inspiration on his career, calling him “my musical God.” After his death, Jean said, “He made me believe that all things are possible, and through real and positive music. He can live forever! I love Michael Jackson. God Bless him.”

Naughty by Nature, who joined fellow New Jersey natives Jean, Queen Latifah, Redman and Fetty Wap for a show-closing performance celebrating their home state and the site of the 2019 VMAs, had a stronger opinion, telling Variety that if MTV were to drop Jackson’s name, they should drop the award altogether. (The first Vanguard award was presented at the inaugural VMAs in 1984; Jackson’s name was added in 1991.)

“They should have dropped the idea of dropping his name,” Naughty By Nature’s Vin Rock said to Variety. “Mike is the man. He’s the epitome of an artist, a musician, overall talent, so you can never take away his body of work, so to have a statue or an award named after him, that should definitely stay.

“You’ve got to drop the whole award if you drop his name. Just drop it,” DJ Kay Jee added. “The music stands for itself and stands the test of time, and I don’t think it’s fair that he’s not here anymore to even be able to defend himself versus a lot of things that’s going on. So definitely, if you’re going to drop his name, drop the award.”

I agree. MJ did not have women jumping in and out and changing women like underwear and these people want to question him; if he did be a Womanizer", the press would still find fault.

Variety and Vanity Fair are becoming a little too obvious in their machinations. If they are not careful people may start asking why all this focus on a man who has been dead for ten years. People may start to think there was something more at play here.

Hopefully this flurry of articles is only to keep LN at front of mind till the Emmys.

in any case I am done with both publications.

Has oprah Winfrey changed her mind on MJ or is she still calling him a pedophile

She hasn’t had one shred of decency to change her mind, she’s a suck up cow to Weinstein and she’s the enemy now.

Michael Jackson would have turned 61 this week, and Paris Hilton decided to wish the king of pop a happy birthday. But her post, which included a family portrait with MJ, has had mixed reactions in the celebrity world.

Hilton's family has been close with the Jackson's since Paris was a child, including spending a lot of time with Michael himself. So, it was understandable P would post something like this to commemorate the occasion.

The post, however, featured an old photograph with Paris and the King along with the message, "Happy Birthday #MichaelJackson! Love & Miss You."

Kris Jenner decided to comment on Paris' picture posting a bunch of heart and praying hand emojis.

Kylie Massey jumped in and added "Miss the king happy birthday."

Then, Courtney Love joined the action by saying, "Wow z Paris."

Other celebrities including Naomi Campbell posted their own Jackson tributes, the model wrote "HAPPY BIRTHDAY. ALWAYS IN MY HEART. MISS YOU @MICHAELJACKSON. #FOREVERKINGOFPOP #BLACKEXCELLENCE #KING #TBT"

Supporting Michael Jackson has been a touchy subject for some celebrities after the documentary 'Leaving Neverland' chronicled alleged sexual abuse of two young victims.

Michael has been in the news lately after comedian Dave Chapelle defending the singer in his new Netflix special.

We broke the story, after Wade Robson went public condemning Chapelle and Netflix for it, Michael Jackson's estate blasted Robson.

The executor of MJ's estate, John Branca, told us “Wade’s accusations emerged only after his book failed and we turned him down for a job with our Las Vegas show 9 years ago. He couldn’t get a job until HBO and Dan Reed hired him. He’ll say anything to avoid answering the question of why people like Dave Chappelle don’t believe him or to address the factual holes and inconsistencies in this one sided documentary that did not interview a single person other than the two guys and their families, who are in it for the money."

“Sorry, Wade you weren’t good enough to direct our show.” he concluded.

Marlon Brando’s son, Miko, is firing back at a report that his famous father reduced Michael Jackson to tears during a dinner conversation about the late pop star’s sexuality.

“I was friends with Michael Jackson for over 27 years and my father adored him. I don’t appreciate my father’s words being twisted to imply that Michael hurt anyone,” he wrote in a letter to the LA Times that was seen by Page Six.

Miko, who once served as Jackson’s driver, shot back in his letter: “This is just someone’s cheap publicity stunt to promote their paid podcast. My father would never have been friends with Michael if he thought he was capable of doing harm to kids, and he would never imply anything negative about Michael. Please correct your story.”

Charles Thomson @CEThomson

If they’ve obtained that testimony, I believe they have done so illegally. I have never heard of this. MJ and Brando remained very good friends until Brando’s. He was even in Brando’s will. So it certainly doesn’t sound true that he believed the allegations.

LAtimes, Hollywood reporter, Variety, and others have ties togethers. Guardian/Vanity Fair are connected to people. USATODAY had backed off for now. These folks at these papers I believe have connections to someone who does not like MJ for whatever reasons beyond this issue. It is too obvious. They are focus on MJ even in death on claims that are clearly lies YET they are not talking about one else to this level who is accused. Paul Mooney was just accused and I see NOTHING about him from any of these sites. That tells u these websites agenda.

Oh, so Courtney didn't like it? I for one don't give a flying shit what that bat shit crazy woman has to say.

As for Brando, it's no coincidence that this trash is being published by the media, right after/on Mike's birthday and soon after Dave Chapelle.

Has anyone seen the clips of Robson ''dancing'' that's being posted on Twitter? They're hilarious, and what makes it even funnier is that he thinks he's brilliant. You can see why he wasn't chosen to be part of MJ ONE.
