Cirque du Soleil 'Michael Jackson ONE' permanent Las Vegas show

Re: Cirque du Soleil "Michael Jackson ONE" permanent Las Vega show

Okay so I'm getting tickets for this in the next couple of days - I take it there's no way of getting discounted tickets and the best place is to buy through the One website?

I know many people have stated there's no bad seat in the house but if anyone has any additional thoughts on which sections are best to sit in I'd be really grateful. I don't want to pay the top price so at the moment I'm thinking towards the back of sections 101 and 103 or towards the front of sections 201 and 205?

Re: Cirque du Soleil "Michael Jackson ONE" permanent Las Vega show

^^I think the best seats will be in the middle sections of the room but not too close to the stage so your neck does not hurt. I always buy in the center about 5 to 8 rows from the stage if possible. However I think the further back you go you can see a more birds eye view without having to turn your head too much. That is the best I can tell you without giving specific sections/rows/seats.

Re: Cirque du Soleil "Michael Jackson ONE" permanent Las Vega show

The isle seats are among the best (in my humble opinion) as there's a lot of interaction between the dancers and the audience. I've sat in the 5th and 6th row, but I think if I go again I'd probably go back a few more. There also is action going on above so sitting a bit further back gives you a wider perspective. But honestly it's a great show so I think you'll have a terrific experience no matter where you chose.

Re: Cirque du Soleil "Michael Jackson ONE" permanent Las Vega show

Aisle seat, farther back in center section was great for interaction with the artists. For best view though I enjoyed the first row of the upper center section. Good views of the aerial work without having to crane neck. Artists also danced in aisle right below.

Re: Cirque du Soleil "Michael Jackson ONE" permanent Las Vega show

I have some MJ One things to give away because I got them as gifts in a bag when I went to Michael's birthday celebration, and previously I bought some of the things I received. I want to give these items to someone from Latin America who feel it would be difficult for them to come to the US and see One. I have:

-a bag
-program
-red hat like the smooth criminal hat
-Id tag that says MJ Birthday Celebration & the date
-small poster
-Key chain
-Commemorative ticket.

Additionally I bought a usb thingy that has songs on it, and a button that goes with it. It is for an mp3. Send PM if you are from that part of the world and would find value in these items.

PS: OK I found someone and already shipped it out.

Finally a HQ - Michael Jackson ONE on David Letterman
Watch on BIG screen

Re: Cirque du Soleil "Michael Jackson ONE" permanent Las Vega show

Nice tribute, it must be more amazing watching the show in person. Those dancers can't mimick (at least) Michael's moves, the real deal is still superior.

The capacity audience on the first night of Michael Jackson ONE by Cirque du Soleil’s newly added Friday night performances included two high-profile celebrations(Pictured: Siegfried & Roy with Kenny Ortega – Photo courtesy Gordan Vukovic / Cashman Photography).

Roy Horn celebrated his 70th birthday at the early performance accompanied bySiegfried Fischbacher, director of Michael Jackson’s This Is It tour Kenny Ortega, X-Men director Bryan Singer, founder of L.A.’s famed Magic Castle Princess Irene, and more than a dozen friends.

Also in attendance at the early performance were Blake Griffin and several players and staff from the L.A. Clippers. Already among the favorites to win this season’s NBA championship, the team took a night off from their training schedule inside Mandalay Bay’s Event’s Center to enjoy a night out as a team.

"Joined by Ortega, Singer, Chappel and Princess Irene, the S&R crew saw “Michael Jackson One” for the first time, and everyone came out of the show blown away. “What they do is just incredible,” Siegfried said, as Ortega added, “I wouldn’t change a thing. Jamie King (the show’s director) has done a fantastic job, and the cast is amazing.”

C.J. Wilcox is a relative unknown among recent first-round draft picks, but he’ll surely become a favorite of Los Angeles Clippers fans if his recent attire is an accurate representation of his sense of humor. On a team-wide outing to “Michael Jackson ONE” in Las Vegas yesterday, Wilcox channeled the “Thriller” legend by donning a bedazzled white glove and classic black jacket.

Cirque de Soliel’s Latest Vegas Masterpiece: Michael Jackson ONE
By McLean Robbins in Arts, News, Travel

It’s been a year since Cirque de Soliel debuted its latest in-residence show in Las Vegas, and on a recent visit, we decided to pop by and check out what all the hype is about. The show is actually the second inspired by the work of Michael Jackson — the first, Michael Jackson THE IMMORTAL World Tour, tours globally.

A nearly sold-out crowd packed the auditorium at Mandalay Bay last Saturday evening to pay homage to the King of Pop’s striking sounds and legacy.

For fans of Cirque, this dance-heavy, bass-infused, technology and tabloid-driven masterpiece is no less spectacular– if a bit less acrobatic-driven, than some shows we’ve seen previously.

The show, like many others, begins before the curtains go down, as tabloid images project across the stage and walls, and four ‘misfit’ teenagers steal from the audience into the stage, preparing to take their journey into the world of Michael Jackson. Paparazzi, which allude to the show’s soon-to-be revealed villains, Mephisto, snap images of unsuspecting audience members.

The first tableaux opens on a thumping note to ‘Beat It’ where drum and guitar-driven rhythms provide the beat for trapeze acrobats and dancers to draw the crowd into the world of Jackson. Voiceovers, images, and news clippings pass across the stage at various moments, inspiring the crowd to feel as ‘one’ with Jackson’s world.

In the second set, Mephisto, a machine made of radios, microphones, tungsten bulbs, televisions, cameras, and surveillance equipment, makes his first appearance along with the Tabloid Junkies, his dance corps and guards.

We progress through signature songs like ‘Smooth Criminal,’ toe-tapping along to the beat, as the four ‘misfits’ begin to realize their powers as they bond over their love for Jackson, acquiring items that help them realize their powers (a glove, hat, shoes and glasses), Wizard of Oz style.

Particularly strong cast members include Wink, a strikingly smooth dancer and contortionist, and Dirty Diana, a pole dancing phenom.

The signature ‘Thriller’ dance entices the audience midway through with its well-known moves and trampoline artistry that uniquely showcases an inverted trampoline and trampoline wall.

But the highlights of the show are ‘Man in the Mirror,’ where Jackson comes to live in a hologram illusion that makes it appear as if Jackson himself is dancing with the cast, and the Electric Love Parade during finale number ‘Black or White,’ where cast members dress entirely in black and are lit up with various lights embroidered on their costume, resulting in a fantastically choreographed light show.

The result? A mesmerizing show that fans, both old and new, of Michael Jackson will love for years to come.

I really enjoy those photos of celebs who drop by to visit the show. Thank you guys for posting and I hope more high profile personalities continue to attend.

In the audience at this past Monday night’s performance of Michael Jackson ONE by Cirque du Soleil was Pitbull. After the performance, Pitbull went backstage and visited with the cast who were thrilled he spent his down time on his Sex and Love World Tour with them.

Michael Jackson ONE’ Is Thrilling Indeed – Plus So Much More!

On Oct. 25, 2014 official “Thrill the World” events will take place around the globe, giving Michael Jackson fans the opportunity to gather and dance to the beat of one of pop music’s foremost icons.

The next day, the fun continues, as thousands more are set to join even more flash mobs. Thrilling, indeed. When he was alive, thrilling audience seemed to come naturally to Jackson. And so it is with Cirque de Soleil.

Accordingly, the combination of Jackson’s legendary music and Cirque’s breath-taking fanfare can only equal genius. That genius comes to life in “Michael Jackson ONE”.

In this intimate look at Jackson, the production covers an expanse, complete with soul, splendor, sensation, strife, sex, seeking, sensuousness and satiation. “Thriller” is but a part of the fantastic story, written and directed by Jamie King, that elevates Jackson the artist to a pedestal well deserved. As a tribute to Jackson, the show reminds us why he was–and is–loved so much.Yet beyond his ever-popular music, infused with life on stage through the performances of the 61 Cirque dancers and acrobats, there is the promise of something more…

MJ-ONE_all-artists

In fairytale fashion, “ONE” does have a definitive plot. Four unlikely heroes combat the evil one. Perchance, victory comes through the magic of Michael. Along the way, a repertoire of MJ’s hits is the landscape for all the action, stirring up a gamut of emotions and (for those old enough) unforgettable memories.

The multifaceted Jackson lived a complicated life, no doubt. Choosing what parts to highlight in “ONE” could have been daunting. Yet, the essence of Jackson is clearly communicated through song and dance…and the Cirque cast’s peerless, fearless endeavors.

Remembering Jackson as the ultimate entertainer is easy. So is sitting back and being mesmerized by incredible acrobats and dancers. Those MJ Girls in “The Way You Make Me Feel” show what real girl power can be. Sassiness, plus all those feminine curves (and muscles), are liberating for any female worried about her size!

hi-jackson-cirque-one-852-04028533

But as true art cannot help but reflect society at large, remembering Jackson as a social activist cannot be overlooked. “They Don’t Care About Us” is a poignant look at the things we often try so hard not to look at—our weaknesses, our failings, our sins.

There are twenty-three “scenes” associated with musical numbers in the production, each vignette helping to move the plot along its course and helping to further reveal something about Jackson. In rearranging Jackson’s hit songs, producers made it a point to maintain the basic essence of the music, so his diehard fans can be glad. Newcomers to Jackson’s music will have a chance to discover and enjoy his far-reaching talents.

Yet, in the true Cirque spirit, there is more. Several of the technical aspects of the production were painstakingly developed to further enhance the entire audience experience. The sound system was designed so that the music and sound effects penetrate the entire theatre through specially angled speakers. Plus, there are actual speakers in the seats—5,412 to be exact. As well, the utilization of a wide variety of video clips shown on non-conventional projection surfaces is key to adding the utmost visual interest and significance.

By the end of the show, that (earlier mentioned) “promise of something more” is fulfilled. For Jackson appears there on stage, bearing a message of hope and love. In this unraveling of his complexity, comes the celebration of Jackson the man and the elevation of his spirit that promises to live on and on.

(Performances of “Michael Jackson ONE” are ongoing at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, 3950 S. Las Vegas Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89119. Click here for ticket information.)
