Thanks for posting, that was seriously awesome. I loved at the beginning when all of them made different Michael's signature pose, and that man in black glittery costume! Is he made of rubber as his hands bent in a ways that seemingly he has no bones:)

Michael Jackson One’ lead in Broadway World Awards voting

By Robin Leach Tue, Nov 26, 2013 (3:33 p.m.)

A peek at early voting for the Broadway World Las Vegas Awards provides some fascinating insight into the Strip entertainment scene through the eyes of out-of-town professionals.

Donny & Marie Osmond lead in the rankings for best long-running show and best band. “Wicked,” staged in a limited, sold-out run at Smith Center, beats the combined totals of its nearest rivals, while “Jersey Boys” at Paris gets the nod for best book musical.

Interestingly, there’s only a spread of seven percentage points between the top three contenders for best choreography: “Rock of Ages” at the Venetian, Jamie King for Cirque du Soleil’s “Michael Jackson One” at Mandalay Bay and Emma Rogers for “Dancing Queen” at Planet Hollywood.

“Michael Jackson One” leads in two categories: best theater and best spectacular. Brad Garrett is in a dead heat with legendary veteran Don Rickles, but Brad Garrett’s Comedy Club at MGM Grand out totals his two closest rivals.

Fremont Street Experience leads the Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Pearl at the Palms as best concert venue, perhaps because most, if not all, of the shows there are free? In the best DJ category, David Guetta’s run at XS in Encore tops Pauly D at Haze in Aria and Tommy Lee and Aero at the Hard Rock Hotel.

Bellagio’s Fountains and Conservatory lead as the best free attractions, followed by Palazzo’s waterfall atrium. The neighboring Venetian is tops for best themed hotel architecture, while Wynn leads in best non-themed hotel architecture.

Light at Mandalay Bay leads in the best nightclub category. Tara Palsha (“Vegas! The Musical”), Jeff Leibow (“Jersey Boys”), Carrie St Louis and Justin Mortelliti (both from “Rock of Ages”) pick up nods for best performances in various categories.

Broadway World is a well-respected theater resource and No. 1-ranked website that monitors show information, ticket sales and news worldwide.

Re: Cirque du Soleil "Michael Jackson ONE" permanent Las Vega show

Just got back from watching the show... And omg.. It was the best show I've ever seen!

So many awesome special effects, half of which I have no idea how they're done (like the moonwalking shoes!!)

Fav part was man in the mirror but Billie Jean was also insanely amazing (and executed so much better than Immortal)...

I loved the fact that this had a story/plot (more than Immortal, at least)...

All around highly recommended (duh!)

Also, I notice that it seems as tho there wasn't a bad seat in the entire theater.. Some better than others of course, but none that were just plain no good (unlike arenas)...

Also my fav remix/mashup had to be Human Nature/Never Can Say Goodbye.. If they ever release a soundtrack for MJOne, they should release that mashup as a single to promote the soundtrack and I'm sure it would get plenty of attention..

Ok if anyone has any questions I'm happy to answer what I can..

Last thing! Right before Stranger In Moscow was about to begin the entire show stopped and everyone left the stage and a voice came on and said it was necessary for the show to stop momentarily.. That break lasted about 15 mins but it finally picked up where it left off.. Thankfully.. I wonder if that happens often..

Re: Cirque du Soleil "Michael Jackson ONE" permanent Las Vega show

I saw the show last weekend. :wild: The show is fantastic, totally worth seeing. I must say however, that the opening act was too much for me.......too much going on. I couldn't help feeling a little disappointed and overwhelmed. :sigh: But as the show progressed, it got better and better. I won't lie and say it was one-hundred percent filled with "Oh shit!" moments, but pretty close.......you could hear a lot of "oohs" and "aahs." :wild:

Yes, the show has a story/plot, though I can't say I understood everything they were trying to express from their acts. At first, I tried to follow the story, (I didn't get the four characters and how they connected to the story) but I got lost, gave up, and decided to just enjoy the music and performance. :D I guess I would have gotten a better understanding if I had read the synopsis in advance  or if there had been a narrator.

I also didn't get the point of the blonde guitarist.......shows up in most of the acts "pretending" to play the guitar. Is she supposed to represent Jennifer Batten, Orianthi? :dntknw: I don't know and frankly I don't care. I found her distracting, annoying, and out of place at times. :D :sorry:

The highlight of the show is a life-sized hologram of MJ singing and dancing to Man In The Mirror. :wild: It was breath-taking as well as heart-breaking......too bad it happens at the back of the stage. It would have had a greater impact at the front of the stage.

MJ ONE is an incredible show, it's simply amazing. It has more dancing than acrobatics (which I don't mind). It is very entertaining.......the cool effects, neat visuals, awesome costumes, incredible surround system (all the seats in the theater have speakers directly in the headrest), the lighting, the sets, and the emerging stages "wheeled" out, the performers dangling above the audience and bouncing on hidden trampolines.......priceless! :woohoo:

Something that I also liked very much was that all the ushers, ticket takers (are whatever they are called), and bartenders are all wearing MJ costumes too (military-inspired). :wild:

I sat on the very (left-side) front row, which is not the best seat because I couldn't take in the whole show. :girl_tantrum: Often I had to turn (up, sideways) as there are parts of the show that involve coming down from the ceiling. Also, I had to constantly "fan" away the theatrical fog/smoke away from my face. :wtf: It's best if you sit away from the stage......much of the visual experience requires a broad view of the entire set. Unless, you want to be high-fived by most of the performers and don't mind their pelvic thrusts literally on your face, :bugeyed then go for it.

At the end of the show, the performers interact with the audience. This performer came up to me, grabbed both my arms to get me off my seat and made me dance to DSTYGE. At first I was embarrassed, but when I turned to face the audience, EVERYBODY was on their feet dancing. That's how everybody left the show.......singing and dancing. :woohoo: But before that, the show got a standing ovation from EVERYONE!

Needless to say, that when I got to my hotel room, I got in front of the mirror and tried to do the Moonwalk, :sigh: tried to do the "lean" :sigh: and the dance routine from Thriller. :wild: :dancing: I mean who doesn't try these things.....right?  :D

Would I go again? Hell yeah!

Michael Jackson One Is The Second Cirque Show To Focus On MJ’s Music

Source: Times Dispatch

Never underestimate the appeal of Michael Jackson!

More than four years after his untimely death, the pop behemoth has commanded the world of Cirque du Soleil, first with the astoundingly popular “Immortal World Tour,” which earned bragging rights as the highest-grossing 2012 road show with more than $163 million in ticket sales, and now with “Michael Jackson One,” the latest permanent Cirque show ensconced at Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino.

While “Immortal” is set to return to arenas next year and “One” just opened in Las Vegas this summer, there is little concern about competition because the shows are significantly different, even though both are directed by Jamie King, who started his career as a dancer on Jackson’s “Dangerous” tour.

“Immortal,” which played multiple shows at Philips Arena in June 2012, tended to get lost in its own grandiosity, with a cast of more than 200 and a dizzying array of action required to gratify the senses in a cavernous arena.

“One,” by comparison, takes a step back. It’s more intimate, both physically — the theater capacity is 1,800 — and in its sense of storytelling.

“It’s a totally different approach,” said Travis Payne, an Atlanta native and choreographer for both shows.

“ ‘Immortal’ is much more of a rock concert, and ‘Michael Jackson One’ is more of a Broadway production. There’s more detail, and sometimes you lose that in the grandeur of an arena,” Payne said.

Jackson’s music, of course, is the centerpiece — about 28 songs or pieces of songs are heard during “One.” As well, his oft-documented irritation at the press and paparazzi is presented immediately upon entering the theater on screens decorated with screaming fake tabloid covers.

But the tone shifts with the arrival of four misfit teens — Clumsy, Shy, Smarty Pants and Sneaky — who are referred to as the “Heroes” and are the vague guides through the production (keep an eye on them wandering around the crowd a few minutes before showtime).

Clumsy learns to dance with the help of Jackson’s magical shoes during “Bad,” and, in one of the show’s most tender moments, Smarty Pants finds Jackson’s trademark fedora and reclaims her childlike innocence during his wistful version of “Smile.”

But the highlights of the 90-minute production come, of course, with the dancing. Though “One” features more typical Cirque-like behavior — wall-bouncing acrobatics, dazzling martial arts routines — it mostly concentrates on elaborate dance routines sprinkled with gymnastic prowess.

“One of our keywords with this show was ‘integrated,’ ” Payne said. “Really integrating the dance, the acrobatics. And then, of course, since it’s Michael Jackson, there’s a significant amount of dance information to include. I think we were able to find a wonderful balance. I always had to take into account the voice of Michael, what I thought he’d feel, or how he’d make it better.”

Without a doubt, Jackson would beam upon witnessing the awesome rhythmic gymnasts during “Smooth Criminal” perfectly aping his iconic “lean” and marvel at the “Cats” meets “The Walking Dead” costumes and faithful reproduction of dance moves during “Thriller” (careful, there might be a werewolf in the aisles).

Also helping to make “One” an immersive experience is the crisp sound. Those unaccustomed to concertgoing might find it exceedingly loud, but you will hear the tinkling synthesizers of “Human Nature” and breathy undertones of “Earth Song” with startling clarity.

“I wanted to make sure we could sonically inspire the entire room. You can have a ton of speakers, but it’s all about making the technology seem transparent,” said Kevin Antunes, musical director for “One.”

There are more than 5,800 speakers in the theater, in headrests and on walls and in places unseen. That precise sound is particularly noticeable on the show-closing “Black or White,” performed within a rousing, carnival-like scene.

Antunes said director King chose “Black or White” as the finale in part because of its iconic video that will ring familiar with the worldwide audiences who make pilgrimages to Vegas, and also to end on a powerful, uplifting note.

Re: Cirque du Soleil "Michael Jackson ONE" permanent Las Vega show

HI guys. New here.

I want to see this show so badly. Can't afford it right now...but when I visit Vegas, I am definitely going for this show as my number one choice.

Cirque, theater, Michael Jackson... perfect combination!

Re: Cirque du Soleil "Michael Jackson ONE" permanent Las Vega show

I went to see MJ ONE Dec 28th, 7:eek:clock show. When they started to introduce the show and talking about MJ it was like he was going to walk out on stage, it was like he was there in person. I had to remind myself that he was not there. That part was very emotional. For MJ to have that type of following in death, it just goes to show that MJ was a VERY SPECIAL PERSON. ONE OF A KIND, BEAUTIFUL.

Re: Cirque du Soleil "Michael Jackson ONE" permanent Las Vega show

Jimmy isn't a fan at all and regularly he has mocked Michael using crude and the usual tabloid trashy jokes. Little bit hypocritical, to be fair.

Re: Cirque du Soleil "Michael Jackson ONE" permanent Las Vega show

Jimmy Carr hates Michael Jackson. What the f was he doing there? Funny how Cirque didn't even mention him, probably had no idea who he was.

[h=1]Michael Jackson and How You Can Melt Butter With Your Eyes[/h]January 07, 2014
by Wendy Hernandez
Cirque de Soleil, Las Vegas, Michael Jackson, Michael Jackson's One

Michael Jackson and Melting Butter With Your Eyes

You can melt butter with your eyes.
You can also eat fire if you want to.
Or breathe fire.
Or make a flame grow bigger using only your thoughts.
Really.
You, my friend, are a magician. You’ve always known how to perform any “trick” you’ve ever wanted to do. Somehow, somewhere, life got in the way and you forgot how powerful you really are.
Today, I’m going to remind you what you need to do to start making magic in your life again.
It’s 3 in the morning, and I’m a little wound up. I feel like I’m flying. I want to dance.
I’m in Las Vegas.
I’m here for work with my brilliant brother, Shannon, but I decided to mix in some fun and go watch Cirque de Soleil’s newest show – Michael Jackson’s One. I just got back to my room a couple of hours ago, and I want to sleep, but I can’t. So….instead of lying in bed wide awake and listening to Shannon snore, I’ll write.
To you.
Since I’ve been here, I’ve witnessed a magician do mind-blowing card tricks right in front of my eyes. I watched a hypnotist make an everyday girl swallow fire. I was transported to Neverland, as I saw The King of Pop’s music come alive again.
Whaaaaaat?!
You don’t like Michael Jackson? Ah well…that’s OK. We all can have an opinion and still live in harmony.
BUT-whether you like MJ or not, if you think about him, his life, and his music, you can still leverage the gifts he shared to create more happiness and magic in your own life. Here’s how:
[h=2]Live from your heart.[/h] Turn on a Michael Jackson song. Almost any song will do. Do it NOW.
Ok…too lazy? Well then, I’ll do it for you. Click on the video below:
Turn the volume all the way up. Really listen to this song. Feel this song. Feeeel it.
How can you not want to get up and dance? Or clap your hands? Or at least tap your foot?
You want to. Admit it!
Michael lived from his heart. You can feel it in every piece of music he ever created. Because he lived from his heart, he created music with depth and emotion and was able to touch billions of people with it.
What was Michael’s magic secret for living from the heart?
He never, ever lost sight of his childlike playfulness or his fear of taking risks when it came to his passion.
Remember…MJ began his career as a young child, a time when we are most in touch with the ability to laugh, play and just be. When we are children, we don’t even know that failure is an option, so we aren’t afraid to try new things. When we fall flat for the first time, we become afraid.
We want to stop trying. We get disconnected from our hearts. Because we aren’t in touch with our hearts, we have a hard time fully living from them.
We start forgetting how to make our magic happen.
When you live from your heart, you live with passion. You can create music as amazing as Michael Jackson’s. Or you can write books. Or make new friends.
You will have abundance in your life. You will create beauty. You will create anything you want.
Get into touch with what makes you laugh and want to play. Then, do it. Today. And do it again tomorrow. And do it the next day. Keep on doing it…
See what happens. It will be magic, I promise.
[h=2]Live in love.[/h] What did MJ talk and sing about most when he was alive?
Love. And being in love. And living in love.
Michael was a walking, talking example of how we all should love.
Did you ever see “This is It,” the movie that was released shortly after Michael’s death? It was about the work he had been putting into what would have been his biggest and greatest tour ever. Anyway…whether you watched it or not…there is a part of the movie where Michael and his troupe were practicing the show.
It is clear from the scene that Michael knew exactly how he wanted things done. His “people” weren’t doing it that way. Michael commanded what it was he wanted his group to do. He gave criticism. He was powerful and effective.
But he did it with love… In fact, he went so far as to tell his people he was doing it “with love.”
Can you live your life as Michael did, with compassion and love?
Can you open your heart to everyone—even those people you don’t like? Even if you think a person is the worst human on the planet, can you give him or her the benefit of the doubt? Can you remember that a person has grown to be a certain way because of life’s experiences, some of which haven’t been that person’s fault?
Have empathy for the circumstances of others. Ask how you can help. Then help.
Make a difference in someone’s life because you can, not because you will get anything out of it.
[h=2]Through all of this, remember to love yourself.[/h] Unfortunately for Michael, that was a lesson he was still learning when he died. Maybe his inability to love himself is what ultimately killed him.
Don’t let that happen to you. Do more than just accepting or tolerating your imperfections. LOVE them. They are yours. They are what make you unique, perfect and YOU. Your “faults” are your battle scars, and you wouldn’t be the amazing, powerful warrior you are had it not been for a few failed battles.
Love others, and love yourself. Always.
Then…watch the magic unfold.
[h=2]Ask for support.[/h] Magicians have assistants. We all need help sometimes. Ask for it when you need it.
Michael needed help. Despite the beauty he created and the love he spread, he was still hurting inside up until the day he died. I don’t know if he asked for the type of help he needed. I don’t know if he knew what type of help he needed.
If you are feeling overwhelmed, unsettled or alone, you need something. What do you need? Only you know what you need.
Figure out what you need. Find a place to be alone. Turn off all distractions. Sit quietly. Focus on your breath. Think only about your breath and the present moment.
Ask yourself what it is you need. Don’t push away the thoughts. Let them come in. Listen. You will hear the answers.
Once you have them, ask someone who can support you to stand by you. Whoever that person is, s/he is your brother. Or your sister. And that person is One with you.
Asking for support doesn’t make you weak. It makes you brave. And strong.
And it just might save your life.
And there is nothing more magical or beautiful than that, my friend.
Sending you my wishes for a week in which you feel your passion, give your love, and make your magic.
All my best,
