Re: Any Believers in Jesus Christ Here?
The thread sure did evolve since I last visited. I fell quite guilty about it actually. I did want to post at some point, but the atmosphere was a bit tense, so I opted out. It is nice to see peace returned to this thread.
Earthy, although belatedly, I wanted to thank you for your prayers - the exam I was talking about went rather well.
MJJ_luv1991, glad to hear about your mom's sound advice. Take care and God bless.
Since we all belong to different denominations, but are united in our belief in the Lord Jesus, I would like to post a Bible quote from Saint Paul:
26 For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes. 28 There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Galatians 3:26-28
And to end on a happy note, here is a funny lil' pic I've found some time ago.
To deank93 - I only saw your post after I hit the submit post button. Religion does not "blow my skirt up" as you said, the wind at the metro does that and I ain't Marilyn Monroe either. LOL I, and many others here I am sure, am aware of the whole position of viewing religion as the 'opium of the masses', a means of control and intoxication, of restricting human liberty and not allowing men to reach their full potential because of 'stupid' moral constrains. We happen to disagree. For us, it is not only a "refuge" and a place where we ignore the ugliness of the world, but a treasure and a purpose for living and wishing for life eternal. As someone once said:
if all of this would be a lie, the product of human imagination, even if Jesus never existed (which of course we do not believe to be the case),at least we would have served a God of love.
It is quite unfair to generalize and label people as uneducated because they are people of faith. Not only is that beyond absurd, but also insulting. If the word absurd seems a bit extreme I used it because your assertion is proven as such by the many academics and great thinkers who were believers, not that education has got anything really to do with common sense and decency; the opposite can also be said - some of the greatest minds have some of the most dreadful characters; unfortunately, I've met my share of those.
As a believer, I know that God gave us the ultimate freedom - to deny Him. But I also know that in whatever gestures of kindness and love I see in others, even if they do not know Him, I see Him and I am thankful for them.
I hope my words did not offend you. Peace :flowers:
