Michael had millions and millions of dollars he could afford to make donations whenever he felt like it, Latoya doesn't have that kind of money it's a big deal for her to make this donation. like she said she's trying to urge everyone to get involved in this cause, Michael used his name too to attract attention to certain causes it's not always for publicity

also..it doesn't really matter the amount of money..people who make more than her, still make announcements..and people who make less, don't make announcements...i don't think the amount is the motivation for making an announcement..

well sure..in order to get peoples' attention to that plight, but that's not the same as MJ going step by step telling us everything he did himself to assist those orphans. he never volunteered an announcement like some other people do. when questioned about whether or not he was charitable, by people who wanted to put him in a bad light as not being charitable, they forced him to maybe give an example that he was charitable, to fend off the haters and naysayers that were hellbent on tearing him down, but that's not the same as coming out and volunteering an announcement.

well he has annonced a tour, I think it was the dangerous tour, and then it was said by someone from Pepsi (I think) that all the money would be donated to the Heal the World foundation.. would it be better if it wasn't said?? I actually think a huge donation like that could encourage people or other artists to do the same.. I have seen videos of MJ with children in orphanages though.. I recorded the Bucarest concert ones, in 1992 or 93, and in the beginning, before it starts, a video is shown (and Heal the world is played) and you see orphans, for example one child, that had something with his eyes, then you see a doctor looking at him, and then you see him after an opration... it's clear that Michael payed for that operation.. is it wrong to show it?

I think it's so sweet. I love it that she uses the attention for something good.

But about True Charity. I think you need to see it from another point of view.

You, me - everyone was able to download the song and automatically donate, that means not only she was donating but all people who downloaded the song. She made an announcement before, that everything goes to this charity and now I think everyone who downloaded has "kind of" the right (as far as this persons are interested) to see/read/etc. where the money was used. Hope you know what I mean. If she didn't make that video people would have probably started to doubt that she ever has donated that money.
And this is not new. Everyone who asks for donations shows where the money ends up, it's not unusual just because it's LaToya.
 
I'm very glad La Toya is keeping her brothers charitable legacy alive. Everyone else is focusing mainly on his musical legacy, but Michael was so much more than that. Thank you La Toya for bringing awareness to Michaels other important legacy, charity.

I just wish that people finally could let Michael "breathe", and let him be.
 
La Toya was able to buy tons of toys, games, food and gift cards as well as donating $10,000 to Aids Project Los Angeles for the children and families affected by the HIV/AIDS virus.

Michael was talking once about how as a celebrity you can use you fame and power to attract attention to certain causes and influence others in a positive way, he was speaking in general terms he didn't give examples
I don't see what's wrong with Latoya donating these money so what if it's made public what should we do hung her form a tree?? I have a feeling no matter what she does stupid immature fans will continue to laugh at her

and don't forget the reason why we never heard about MJ's orphanages visits, donations etc etc is because the media didn't want us to hear positive stories. for ex here he complains about media ignoring his hospital visits http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IvPodrDc6Dk

true, and latoya is not a simpleton. she is one of the most intelligent person in the Jackson household. She was a treat to listen to in the Bigbrother house, very quick witted and well spoken, Far from being a simpleton.

100% right, If it breaks the media stereotype of Michael, they will never show it. Heck, If it was some other celeb, It would get reported with no snide comments and truthfully.
 
I read on Digital Spy the other that all these top charity contributor lists are done by how many times it appears in the media so MJ keeping it all hush hush was never going to land him on any of these lists. But Michael went the right away about it, it shouldn't be an affair where all the press go to.
 
Good to know she is doing good.
People doubed she would give this to charity, so it's good to see the results.
Publicity or not publicity.... well... I rather step aside from that issue. We all have different views on this, but... I would just say she is LaToya Jackson, no Michael Jackson. Michael is unique in many ways and I think we can't expect any of his siblings to be just like he was. They can follow his good example, but of course, in their own way. Don't we all do the same? :)
