I don't know how much MJ spent in the net but didn't Gaz say that he used to read here so he had some computer skills. I think Respect might have a list of sites where MJ visited and that info was used in trial. Most of the people knows what I'm talking about.

My point wasn't really about whether he knew how to use computer or not, but to point out that bg's weren't with MJ 24/7 and stayed in they security details while MJ was at home, so they couldn't have known or seen what he was doing.

I could just be talking out of my ass here, but maybe it just didn't occur to him that the people he saw were homeless? Like, maybe he thought they were just hanging out on the streets for the sake of hanging out. And when he learned they were homeless he was surprised to see so many of them there, like he didn't think there would be that many homeless people in that spot, or just in general.

And definitely he didn't think about Las Vegas as the place for homeless people. But probably many of them become homeless over there because of gambling.

Computer Illiterate was a bit strong, but its not my words, it came from someone who knew him. but the point was really about the use of the Internet

I didn't say I know everytime MJ was online, i said everytime I personally have known him to been online. Because the only times I have been told about MJ using a computer for the internet he has needed assistance. Instead of assuming just because he had things capable of web browsing HE used them. I am only going by the word of people who knew MJ, Its known MJ browsed the forums with the Cascios in the early 2000's, handling of MJJCSource was done by Randy and company, Taryll has mentioned about MJ not using computers to my friend aswell, also with Travis Payne saying MJ was amazed his live performances were on youtube or something to that extent, and I think Paris said MJ didn't really use the Computers for anything other than music and photography.

MJ was obsessed with Technology, he probably wanted an IPhone because it was new, had a good Camera and he could store and listen to Music on it.

In 2007, Apple’s iPhone was so expensive that the popular beat combo star, and friend to children everywhere, Michael Jackson could not afford one. Apparently while Apple fanboys were queuing to spend their last dime on the gear, the so called “king of pop” knew it was completely out of his price range.

In a new book out today, "Remember the Time: Protecting Michael Jackson in His Final Days," two of Jackson's security guards, Bill Whitfield and Javon Beard, explain how rubbish Jackson’s financial situation was. Jackson had no idea where his money was or how much he had and how both guards weren't paid for months on end.

While he was while he could spend thousands of dollars on toy trips and miscellaneous purchases ranging from a nearly seven-foot-tall Tinkerbell replica to $1,000 on a theatre display for "The Simpsons Movie" an iPhone was out of his league. Whitfield said after Beard stood for two and a half hours in line to make the purchase, he was asked by Jackson to set up the phone. But the problem was not only the expense of the phone. Apple’s partner AT&T wanted to sting Jackson for $1,500 to turn on the mobile. Apparently it was because Jackson’s credit was about as good as a Fudzilla hack.

The security guards set up the phone for him in their name. Whitfield said eventually Jackson's number was changed and the bill for both phone accounts was never paid.

"The charges had run up close to two thousand dollars, and they got disconnected," said Whitfield.

It seemed to me that the conversation on Michaels sex life stems from RF's comment about hookers, quite how he made that leap I will never know, anyway it's now moved onto whether Michael used the internet or not. Funny thing is that on both subjects we will simply never know, not for sure.

But the defense never claimed he didn't know how to use a computer so this was a moot point. They just used it as a desperate attempt to try to introduce more salacious material.

The judge ruled against the introduction of that evidence simply because it was irrelevant. There was no illegal pornography, not even gay pornography and none of the access dates correlated with the time that Gavin claimed to have spent in MJ's room. So it was not relevant to the case.

There were two laptops and one desktop computer that had two hard drives. So altogether four hard drives. All had internet connection and all was used to browse websites. All had adult images stored in their caches, but there was also mention of access to other type of websites from them, such as adoption websites, toy stores etc. To think MJ had three computers with Internet connection in his upstairs bedroom but never used any of them on his own and didn't even know how to use them seems like a bit of a stretch to me.

I didn't see any evidence of how MJ was "computer illiterate". You just cited people saying that they showed MJ certain websites he previously had no idea about. And that's what the BGs claim about eBay as well. None of that means he did not know how to use the Internet or computers in general. And further talking about computers and nitpicking about the BGs story a bit. They say MJ hated Sony so much he broke a headphone just because it was Sony? Well, during the search one of the computers found in his bedroom was a Sony Vaio W20.

Michael Amir Williams also testified that Michael had a computer in his room and sometimes he would say MAW that he had a skype meeting and MAW would set up the computer.

So it doesn't seem like Michael was a computer wizard -given that he got help from MAW to set up Skype but from everything else it seems like he was using computers. Do you really think all that KingTut777, Privacy969, Dr. Black, Marcel Jackson etc were Cascios surfing and opening memberships at adult websites?

One reason these bodyguards is aware of MJ's Ebay use is because whatever he bought was shipped to Bill's home address.

You know what, after all of this discussion I'm gonna look at this book a little differently.
I have to admit when they first started speaking up I thought they were very close to Michael, I expected a lot from the book.
Now I'm just going to read this book and look at it as these guys were around him for a bit and these are the memories they have. Nothing more nothing less.
Just like I read that book from a local doctor who was around Michael in the early 2000's.
Is this definitive on how and who Michael was completely? No, I don't think so. And it doesn't have to be.
I think it's more their view on him and what they saw. We will never know what is just their perception and what is really true.
Maybe I'm late with this realisation but better late then never, right?

Michael was probably like my mother. If she's on her own, she can somehow figure out how to use the computer, but if I'm there... "I can't! I don't know what to do! Help!" Even after years of using the computer, she's still so afraid she's gonna damage the computer if she just clicks on the wrong button. :rofl:

I'm sure Michael could figure out how to use the computer when he was alone and he really needed to, but when people were around, he probably preferred to let them do it for him.

Who had a computerized list of songs broken down by different statistics so that he could see which songs fans liked, what percentage liked this particular song, etc. Whose computers where confiscated by the police, searched and found internet sites on it? Oh maybe an intruder broke into Michael's home several times, went on the computers and surfed the internet.

Michael most likely was someone like me. You use the internet and the computer but you don't know for example a lot of the sites that most people usually visit, how to put a bug in someone's computer, how to hack into their system, how to remove a bug, how to go searching all over u-tube for different things, and things of that nature. However, turning it on and doing basic internet searches, buying, viewing, e-mailing he knew what to do.

I mean how many developmental/psychological/physical delays do we want to attach to this man anyway--he couldn't have a woman, he couldn't have sex, he didn't know about reality, he couldn't use the computer. What is next, he couldn't wipe himself after he went to the bathroom?

I have been thinking more about this book, and I know they had to give the publisher a good hook so that he would take the project and give an advance. However, did they have to add any new problematic information that people did not know about, so that the creeps could run with it and make a whole article out of it? For instance, why give details about the phone, since most did not know about that? I was going to buy 10 copies of this book, but now I am leaning towards buying 1 copy for someone to read, only because it is not really 100% tabloid, and it is a little different from most of the recent books about Michael. I will then buy 10 copies of Zack's, for going way off the sensationalism angle.

wow petrarose, excellent post, excellent. I agree with everything you said. and if I'm not mistaken back in 95 didn't michael do like a live chat with fans on the computer? I think it may be on youtube because it was filmed and everything. fans were asking him questions and he answered most of them. there were some questions that he did not answer though.

You were there with Michael 24 hours a day? You talked to the manager of the bank/lawyers and they gave you all the timeline of the financial situation of Michael?
