yeah, im feeling that demo too! lol. I love the 2008 version though, they got down with it. the paul one? eh, not so much, but duran duran explained it VERRRRY well on why they decided on it.

Or "blue eyed soul" like Hall & Oates, Wham!, Taylor Dayne, & Culture Club. In the US, hair metal songs like "Beat It" hadn't fully crossed over from rock radio to mainstream pop top 40 yet. So "Beat It" wouldn't have made a good choice for a 1st single anyway. Van Halen was still being played on AOR stations mainly. They crossed over with the album "1984". Hair rock became popular when MTV did and the Christopher Cross, Carole King, James Taylor, & Kenny Rogers type acts died out. Remember video killed the radio star, lol.

That makes sense.. I remember reading, I think it was in Moonwalker, where he said it HAD to be the first single because even if they didn't release it as such, it was gonna get played to death anyway.. so they had to release it before they finished Thriller so it would just run its course... to me that sounded like they just thought the song was ooookay but like duran said, they needed someone a little crossover to get Thriller some buzz...

Wait.. What 2008 version? Who is on it? Who remixed it? I didn't buy Thriller 25 because basically I don't like none a these new cats redoing MJ's music. I didn't wanna hear no BEP or no Fergie or no Wyclef or no Kanye all up on MJ's ish.

Oh okay.. I see what's going on here and I kinda like it. Basically he used the demo version. It ain't bad.... because of THAT really. And no Paul. But in exchange I get Wil. I could so do without his voice up in there Blech... :lmao:
