Conrad Murray
Appeals Manslaughter Conviction
Dr. Conrad Murray has just filed an appeal, challenging his conviction for involuntary manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson ... TMZ has learned.
Murray filed the document in pro per -- which means he's representing himself instead of using a lawyer.
On the portion of the document where a lawyer will usually state his or her firm's contact information -- Murray lists "Men's Central Jail" ... and includes his booking number.
While he is representing himself, Murray is still communicating with one of the lawyers who repped him in the manslaughter trial, Nareg Gourjian.
Gourjian tells TMZ ... "This case presents a gold mine of issues for any appellate lawyer. Dr. Murray is confident that the Court of Appeal will vindicate him."

It's not unusual for appeal notices to be filed in that manner before a lawyer who specializes in the appellate process is chosen, Gourjian said.
No Chernoff and Flanagan???
Apparently not, although it appears he's still in contact with Baldy. =o
Shame. I shall miss Flanazapam and his endearing tirades about Lorazepam and drunken demeanour. I shall miss Cherry Pie's funny faces too.
All I have to say to Murray in regards to this decision (if he really does intend to represent himself) is: remember what happened to this guy...
It´s not likely Michael would have died from propofol if Murray had used proper equipment, monitored him and called 911 when it went wrong.A juror said that´s the reasons why they found him guilty.Kingofpop4ever3000;3550863 said:I still think that since Murray admitted to giving Michael propofol without monitoring equipment and supposedly giving in to Michael's alleged "demands" for the propofol to begin with, that should put Murray's appeal on the skids right there. None of Michael's other public "controversies" should come into this either. I really hope the appeals court tells Murray to go and serve his time in jail. He should not be allowed to be able to crucify Michael's memory again and again because he was too money-hungry to say no to Michael or quit. Michael paid with his life for requesting the propofol if that's what he did. But Murray needs to be held responsible for giving propofol under those conditions when he knew better. As far as I am concerned, Murray lost his right to claim he was innocent when he gave Michael the propofol against his claim that he suspected Michael had been having dependence issues with that stuff for weeks. This is all just my opinion.

Prosecutors have asked for $100 million in restitution from Murray for Jackson's estate

The disgraced doc convicted of accidentally killing Michael Jackson has filed a notice of appeal, one of his lawyers confirmed Friday.
Dr. Conrad Murray signed the paperwork from jail this week saying he's representing himself, a step that's required to get court-appointed counsel, lawyer J. Michael Flanagan said.
Flanagan said the Houston cardiologist can no longer afford private legal help.
"There's probably going to be a restitution decision that puts him underwater," Flanagan explained.
"We're helping him with the appeal paperwork, and eventually there's a possibility we might be appointed to work on his appeal. We know the case and think we're the logical people to be appointed, but you never know," he said.
The Friday filing was first reported by TMZ.com.
A court spokeswoman confirmed the court's receipt of the form.
Prosecutors have asked for $100 million in restitution from Murray for Jackson's estate. A hearing on the matter has been set for January.
Murray, 58, sat stone-faced at his Tuesday sentencing as Judge Michael Pastor sentenced him to four years in jail and branded him a reckless liar who caused Jackson's overdose death and then tried to cover his tracks.
"He has absolutely no sense of remorse, absolutely no sense of fault and is and remains dangerous," Pastor said.
Despite his max sentence, Murray is expected to serve less than two years because a new state law means he'll bypass state prison and remain in Los Angeles County's notoriously overcrowded jail.
"He'll probably be released in winter 2013," Los Angeles County Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore told The News. "He'll be a keep-away inmate who's escorted everywhere he goes. He will not mingle with the jail population."
