Anyone been to the O2 Exhibition?

Did they change any of the items or did the display stay the same each time you went?

The items stayed the same but they have put up more barriers up that before to stop people getting so close. On fan day you could walk up the the Leave Me Alone rocket but that's been barried off now. You cant get close enough to touch it anymore!!!!!

is the exhibition still going then?,i thought i heard it had an extention to the 22nd february and then that was it,

I went on the last weekend in January

The leave me alone rocket was still 'touchable' then, as were a number of other things. There didnt appear to be too much security when I went (although some poor fella was asked to turn in his mobile phone, and all his photos were deleted. Gutted)

I found the exhibition to be a completely surreal experience

I felt detached from almost everything. It felt as if this Man had never lived. Never walked the earth at all and had merely been a beautiful mythical creature.

I felt numb walking around, as if none of it meant anything.

It was just 'stuff'.

Then I reached the glass case, with the Thermos Flask and the tupperware container, and it was at that point that I lost it.

Anyway, this is my Top Ten of Exhibits at the O2

1) Thermos Flask and Plastic Tupperware (Michael's Children would pack lunch for him to take every day to rehearsals)

2) Neverland Arch (sobs)

3) Beat it hand written lyrics (sobs more)

4) Bad Tour Outfit

5) Glove (single white encased at the end)

6) Leave me alone Rocket (which we managed to get a sneaky touch of)

7) Guiness book of records award

8) Smooth Criminal Outfit

9) Cast of Michael's hands

10) 'Love of a glove' book

And a separate number one goes to:

1) The books of condolences which will be given to Michael's children. Packed full to bursting of love.

We Love you Michael. We miss you. We will never let go of your hand.

1958- Forever

Everytime I go I have read the messages in the books and they are amazing to read. Michael touched so many people, as you said they're bursting with love. He is loved by so many, from young to old. It was the messages from children saying how much they love him which really got to me. The exhibition ends on the 28th so it ends tomorrow.

That is exactly how I felt. I stood at those books for ages with tears literally pouring from my eyes all over the page. I couldn't say goodbye. I just couldn't.

It all felt so final.

There were people behind me waiting to write, but they didnt pressure me or get annoyed. They completely understood.

It felt comforting in a way to be surrounded by so much love for him. I hope he felt it while he was alive.

I hope it will be somewhere Europe again as I haven't had the chance to go to London. Although reading your stories I'm not sure how I would feel seeing all these things. I might get a bit overwelhmed.

I touched the "Leave Me Alone"-rocket when i was there. But a lady corrected me afterwards. :p But it felt good...

i have made a photo of MIchael's glove!!!
i'm too happy.. it's my treasure!!

hahaha I gotta laugh at the fact people can't touch leave me alone rocket anymore though.. they got fed up by it I see..the sequritys..
me and my friend touched it so many times the day we were there and this sequrity guy was looking at us so strict but then later on when we touched it again started laughing? lol..I'm sure they are FED UP with people touching these things, cause it seems that no-one really cares about the DON'T TOUCH rule..
we touched Michael's pants aswell and it felt GREAT and I don't regret touching things because really..what happened? what coudl they do to us? nothing!! and we have the memories forever and we truly felt the magic. It was amazing to be there and to see SO CLOSE how his costumes were made

i found this video on youtube. it's miko showing a camera crew around the exhibition. it's from the Guardian

Thank u so much for posting the video...I didnt get the opportunity to see the exhibition living on the other side of the ocean, but that video gave me a good insight of what it was...I was close to crying...:(

If I were there and saw the Neverland sign (heck even any other thing there) I would cry so much... =/

Rumour is Tokyo. It was still really busy when I went earlier on today, I'm really glad it has done so well. Left emotionally drained by it all today knowing it was the last time I was going to see it. I miss Michael :(

thanks for reply!

tokyo is so far.... hope will be back in EU

Yeah I'm gonna miss it too!!! They should have the shop there all year round :) hehe....I spent sooooo much money in there, think I bought everything there was to buy!!!

yeah, that shop should stay there, its so beautiful, wish I could work there, listening to MJ all day, sell MJ products all day, its heaven! I too spent a fair bit of money there, but its worth it, I WANT THAT THRILLER JACKET!

Yes I did. I have been inside twice. It was so beautiful. It was the happiest days of my life. I lived an hour and a half away from Neverland. The rides were fun, the food was yummy, and just being there was out of this world. I loved the giant trampoline! Amazing memories..I will miss it. I never thought I would ever stand in front of that gateway ever again. I'm getting all teary now.

wow that's incredible, did you meet Michael there?

Seeing it for the last time today has left the biggest empty space in my heart :( The company of two great friends today made it that bit easier to cope with. But it's not getting much betterrighr now. I could spend forever in there tbh :(

:cry::cry: Oh I know. It feels so sad that it is all going to be packed away and moved on, but I understand that other poeple from all over the world will want to see it too.
I was so glad to have seen it several times.
Hugs to you Stephen.:better:

I finally got to visit it yesterday and it was an incredible experience... worth landing me in hospital this morning. I damaged ligaments in my ankle and foot last week - still don't know how - and there was no way I was going to miss it. So, somehow, I hobbled about the London Underground and was damn near crawling around the exhibition. Apparently I was fortunate not to have done real damage yesterday. Enough moaning though, I really hope a permanent exhibition is set up somewhere... we need OUR Graceland! I thought the flask and lunchboxes were an incredibly emotional touch - even making a grown man like me fight back tears. After walking through and reading about how great a performer he was, what awards he had won, his unmatched charity work, it made the point that Michael Jackson was a normal man. It reminded me of when I was packing to go to WrestleMania last year and my daughter, who was only about 14 months old, brought me a pair of socks to pack. The video packages and the music were a great touch and the fact the final thing in the exhibition is THAT quote was the perfect close. As I wrote in the condolences book: SIMPLY THE GREATEST. THANK YOU!

Anyone else feel sad that it has ended today? Something about it makes me feel closer to Michael. Going to the o2 again after this is going to seem empty without it there although I must admit my bank balance is glad its closing. The amount I spent in that shop!!!!!!!

EDIT: Just talked to a friend who went today and she said that the exhibition was really busy today due to it being the last day, she went to the last entry. She spoke to the staff today and they were very upset about it closing. A lot of them were only hired to do the exhibition and they said that the o2 was losing some of its spirit today. A lot of very upset fans and the staff said they had never seen so many tears. The staff allowed fans to witness them close the exhibition down-the tv screens were turned off, the display lights were switched off and the condolence books were packed up ready to be sent to Encino. The staff have all read the books and were all so touched because of the love shared because of one man. One man has caused all this love and its beautiful yet heartbreaking such a beautiful soul is no longer with us.

I wouldn't have been able to watch that

Oooh boy, that is so sad. It must've felt so weird to see that all closing down for good. I am so grateful to have been there, wouldn't wanna have missed out on that. Was beautiful to see. So now the O2 is really...no Michael stuff anymore...so weird.

Thanks for the updates, girl! :huggy:

So this is a traveling exhibition? Forgive me, but I haven't been reading the thread or much else about this event, since I couldn't attend.

I wonder if there's any slight possibility it could come to the U.S.?

Now you really got me questioning my memory... Am I completely wrong if I remember reading that London is the first of only three cities to host the exhibition?

*A little bit later, after doing some Googling* No, my memory is not failing me! :D

The London world premiere will be one of only three cities and the sole European engagement for the exhibition.

http://www.theo2.co.uk/general/michael-jackson-the-official-exhibition.html

In my opinion for example LA could be one of the two cities left

I have also heard people saying the exhibition will most likely go to Japan and the US.
