the coverage i get on satellite (UK) starts in an hour - is that the same time for you? i have a tendency to watch most of these music awards shows, usually feeling regret afterwards, lol.

ahh yeah it's the same here, i completely forgot about those silly red carpet segments.

Screamin, no UK channel is showing it. if you don't have satellite you can try finding an online link that streams it live on the net.
 
I almost forgot about this show until my sister was talking about Chris Brown. They are doing the red carpet now. I will be watching the show because nothing else will be on..... well, except for the show "24" which I am not a fan of. LOL. It is gonna come on in 12 minutes. It is 7:48PM EST.

So, I watched most of the show last night and I liked the following:

Alicia Keys with some oprea singer and Queen Latifiah

Ne-Yo

Beyonce

Pink with Sarah Mc (I forget how to spell her last name)

Annie Lennox

Coldplay

That was about it regarding the performances that I liked. I thought that Jimmy Kimmel was not funny and very rude. What was up with the Scott Weinmen (sp) guy that was introducing Pink? I didn't not think that Chris Brown deserved to win artists of the year. He looked shocked. Rihanna, as usual, was not a good performer. Mariah Carey bored me. Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Bros - blah. LOL. That was about all I can remember. It was better than last years.
 
Ne-Yo was good. i liked the live brass section, you hardly ever see that in pop these days. and Beyonce was great.

Chris Martin of Coldplay was a bit off. his voice seemed dodgy. but i'm shocked they didn't win an award, though it's not exactly prestigious..

glad Annie Lennox got such a reception, she deserved it.

and Chris Brown was right - he didn't deserve his award.

I only got to see Christina. I dont remember anything after that. Lmbo!
I would have loved to have seen Beyonce tho.

Did Rhiana perform? Not that I was looking forward to it or anything. :sleep:

Totally agree with you, arXter. I have Jordan's first solo CD and played that thing to death. It was completely underrated, imo. Lots of good music on there. :yes:

I agree about Beyonce. She tore it up. Each time I hear that song I like it more and more. Wasn't too keen on it the first few times cuz it reminded me of Check on It too much....which was a good song. It just seemed like Check on It, part II to me. But now I'm really feeling the song.

And surprisingly, I LOVED the song Miley Cyrus did. :blink: I hate myself, but I liked that song. Miss Thang actually has a good voice. Reminded me of Pat Benatar or one of those rocker chicks from the early 80's. Might check out her other songs to see if there's more substance there. I may have misjudged her as manufactured musical crack for the masses. :lol:

O.M.G. @ Ne-yo and that brass section. Complete eargasm. :cloud9: LOVED that version of Miss Independent. It had that old school Lounge swagger to it. I NEED that version in full...the whole song. I hope he does one. Mmm Mmm good. His set was very well done also. Loved the look. Not a lot of booty shaking but real dancing. The girl in the red dress was a nice touch and the nod to The Time during Closer was pretty cool. Ne-yo's got some moves. LOL! I watched his part of the show again on youtube last night. Live music can not be beat. Can't say it enough.

Mariah....pretty good, but yeah, boring, imo. And I hate to say that cuz I think she's amazing. Loved the song, but she was just...blah. :(

Annie Lennox....Amazing! Awesome...all that good stuff.

Christina....awesome as usual...but didn't like her hair. lol It looked too fluffy or something. :p

Alicia Keys....ditto..except I loved her hair and her dresses! Beautiful and elegant. Loved the opera touch with Kathleen Battle. Alicia has never failed entertain as far as I've seen her on these award shows. She knows how to bring something new and interesting each time. And LIVE music is always refreshing. There's nothing like it, imo.

Rihanna...looked great (loved the white dress) and liked that song but she was borderline ok and blah for me.

I enjoyed the majority of the performances. The awards part was pretty boring tho. There were no real superstars there to create that extra buzz when they won.
 
I was too busy doing my research paper( I did see bits and pieces of it, but not that much), but i saw Mariah Carey's (Great voice) performance and it bored the hell out of me. Damnn I wanted to see Beyonce's performance. Im SOOO Glad i didnt see Rhiana's or Miley Cyrus' performances :sleep:

of course BEYONCE was one of those that stole the show.

Im still shocked that Chris Clown won Artist of The Year....and beat out ALICIA KEYS & COLDPLAY! (Even Lil Wayne lol..based on the fans) but the AMAs are now voted by fans so thats the only legitimate reason why he would win so many awards....the nominations and winners were both bogus...i would only watch the AMAs for the performances now...it has absolutely lost all credibility....its now on the levels of the VMAs...just because its shown on a big network doesnt make it a significant awards ceremony..

im not shocked RiRi won the awards she did either cz shes the it-girl right now but only cuz of that...how the hell do u beat out Alicia Keys for best R&B/SOul female?????? im conf-uzzled lol
