I would rather see MJ animated in the video , playing the main character of the story, rather than actors .. but to each his own .. just my preference . but if they do it well with actors and i can "relate" to MJ with it ... that will be fine as well..

The contract for the hologram listed a music video, did it not? Maybe, just maybe if I remember that correctly.. the video will feature that "MJ"?

If Michael is to be the animated lead character in the video (I prefer he and the video are not animated) then, I would hope tradition continues and the lead, animated female would resemble the lead females he previously cast. An animated Naomi Campbell would be absolutely stunning!

I do not want to see that hologram anywhere near a video. They need to get more creative.

A very creative animated video would be great IMO. There are so many awesome things that one can do with animation.

I agree, but I don't want an animated version of MJ doing cliche MJ dance moves. They need to be more creative than that
 
Well, maybe MJ One is for the dancing part of the video? IDK. The song itself makes me think about What Dreams May Come movie, especially the original version of the song … and MJ One could be a perfect choice for creating an atmosphere like this, IMO.

But “MJ One Prod” line tells me that it is most likely their "tribute" video for MJ. We'll see.

Yea, I too am completely tired of the "dancers and video clips" music videos that they've been doing lately for Michael's music. I DO NOT want Virtual Valentino in any Michael Jackson music videos, but I wouldn't mind a more creative, true to life animated image of Michael for music videos.

Cirque should include new songs in their shows! That would be great promotion. This way they are promoting Immortal album that is not even on the charts!

I am loving this song more and more. In addition to the stellar vocals and interesting storyline, it also has a great beat that I can't help but tap my fingers to. Unlike some of the other songs on the album which I also appreciate, there is a timeless quality to APWNN that sets it apart in my opinion. This song will still sound great 10 years from now. Can't wait to see how the public receives this song. It could be really huge depending on the video and promotion.

It takes time and monies for proper, quality animation. VV was done in a matter of months for a less than a half million if I am correct. See how that turned out.

The world reacted differently. They found it entertaining and they were in awe. Newspapers here in Holland were very positive about the Hologram. And so am I.

The project is entertaining enough and better than old video montages glued on top of a new song. Sure, it's not Michael. But it has somehow the magic that Michael had on stage. Non fans/regular concert goers thought it was state of the art, which it is!

I think the hologram experience was awesome and they can absolutely continue it with a place without no name.

IMWHizzle, you appreciated it and I did not. Many media outlets appreciated it however; there were many that did not. Yea or nea; neither view is the world view.

You have stated another hologram would be acceptable to you while others have suggested cartoon-like animation and yet there are other types of animation not yet mentioned. Regardless of the type, quality animation takes time and monies.

I and others do not have an interest in an animated video when an amazing storyline can be portrayed with well known actors. I personally would not use an animated video for any song on Xscape except DYKWYCA.

If I was L.A. Reid, I would release both versions of APWNN to satisfy the different radio formats. I would also have two alternate videos; the videos can have different beginnings or different endings.

I hope the MJ One's video is a tribute and not an official video. But to promote the second single I suppose they would have to use that video. Also, we don't have any word on plans of another video. And for an animated one it would take a lot of time. They would have to set aside a significant amount of budget for the video alone. Also they need time to conceptualize the story, finding a director, assembling a creative team and hunting for the best animators.. And the estate has already spent a lot on the illusion and on other videos. So it only makes sense that they make use of MJ One's creative team who are under their control for further promotions.
Anyway, it doesn't stop me from getting my hopes high for an animated video though. And for MJ One's video, I am hoping it would be less of a tribute and more like something with a story line (like Cirque de Soleil's Blue Gangsta).
For an animated video, I feel it would be better suited for the title track "Xscape". The song is perfect for an animated presentation.

I had watched this anime and IMO, the story line kind of goes with the song. This is the utopian world in the anime and I always imagine Xscape to be based on this(the two round structure shown are a sort of controlling bodies in the anime, similar to the "system" in the song) :


Wouldn't it be just super cool if the estate could make something like this possible? I mean they can ask japanese animators for help, they make the most coolest animes especially on themes of future and sci-fi. It would be a proper tribute seeing that even MJ was also involved in these genre (Moonwalker and Captain EO). Whats more important is that their anime characters have a lot of personality who immediately connect with people. I am sure for a task to create a successful anime rendition of MJ they can make it possible.

Agreed. I am hoping however that Cirque's involvement is limited in APWNN. I did not like Blue Gangsta.

For an animated video, I feel it would be better suited for the title track "Xscape". The song is perfect for an animated presentation.

The fact that there will be a video for it is definitely going to aid its success but I hope it's not another compilation video. It still needs to feel like a Michael Jackson video, however. It's tough to please everyone!

As many have already stated, APWNN tells a narrative so they have a lot with which to work. Perhaps a visual telling of the story interspersed with unseen Michael clips would be cool.

Looking at how the MJOne team made a video for Blue Gangsta (which was the 'original' version) I think we can definitely assume they are doing the original APWNN aswell!

Oh yes yes yes! APWNN sounded like a butchered version in the beginning, but now I think it's the best song on Xscape, I even like it better than the original. So happy with this news! :D

In addition, the updated version makes it truly sound like a "Michael Jackson" song rather than a reworked version of a Horse With No Name. Although many artist sample portions of other songs, the original version of APWNN is too close to the inspiration in my opinion

When I was a kid, I remember how excited I was to see the next Michael Jackson video on tv. The Thriller premiere was such a HUGE event. My brother and I sat in front of the TV mesmorized by the spectacle. The next day, I talked about it with my friends at school. Following this, there were several other Michael Jackson videos which made headline news upon their release. There are far too many to name. It would be great if they can rekindle some of this magic for APWNN. Although Michael is no longer here, the high ratings for the Billboard awards demonstrates that there is still an appetite for something groundbreaking and different when it comes to Michael Jackson. I am really hoping for something spectacular

The original APWNN does not sample AHWNN. It's basically a cover of it, only with different lyrics.

Indeed. Some may see this as a bit of a rip off. Not sure i would be happy with someone using the music for one of Michael's songs and changing the lyrics. I really like both versions but prefer the newer version which helps to somewhat avoid this issue

I agree and how intriguing! So, Michael was fascinated with the music and changed the lyric. Just creative expression/inspiration on his part? (I'm just wondering, no criticism intended at all.)
