1993 Superbowl..was it the best ever?

Prince's Purple Rain performance was absolutely amazing, out of this world.

MJ lost a lot of feeling in his performance when it was so bright outside, I hate watching concerts when it's bright. The lightning effects and contrast adds so much emotions when it's dark. It's meaningless setting of fireworks in the middle of the day.

Damn I used to have that Prince performance on my computer, I'm get all anxious by the fact that I might have deleted it. :(

I think with regard to concept, Michael was the best, nothing beats that almost supernatural entrance. However I feel when it comes to the dancing, Michael was somewhat rusty. I dnt mind him lipsyching that fast paced medley as I'm sure the crowd also didnt. Its the lipsyching of HEAL THE WORLD that makes me cringe.

I have to agree the entrance was the best in Super Bowl history. Everything else paled after that but he did good.

I suggest you watch other Superbowl performances before providing a more structured opinion.

There were many other performances that are rated higher than Mike's. I can probably name 4:

U2 (Tribute to 9/11)
The Rolling Stones
Prince (arguably the BEST amongst critics)
Bruce Springsteen (the most recent)

you mention one as being among critics. that doesn't count. and..it's not like we HAVE to do anything. we're supposed to be inspired.

MJ started it in all the ways that count..including ratings. of course, after the fact, people are gunna argue it out of ego, but it's the truth...it's like winning eight grammys. MJ did it first..but people are gunna argue..especially critics, out of envy towards MJ, who is about firsts...and they're gunna say things about other artists winning eight grammys..but, the inspirational atmosphere of firsts, here, belongs strictly to MJ, the best selling performer of all time. as far as checker goes...he's from the past..nobody regards him as current pop icon phenoms, and they would look at checker as like up with people or somn...but MJ started the trend that is happening now..and everybody knows it, if they search their true souls. but if certain folks don't want to admit it..lol..that's ok..that's what usually happens anyway.

chances are..if MJ didn't do it..current trendy artists, from around the world would not consider performing for a totally american event such as this one. the nfl knows that, as many around the world don't even know what nfl stands for, but they know about the super bowl halftime show cus of MJ. but now they(the world's trendy artists) are doing it, cus of MJ.

and..of course, there's gunna be critiques of his performance, which was great. but some people feel the need to study things after the fact, but his peformance was enough for everyone to want to follow the trend. so, it was great.

I would say it is or at least one of the best....I noticed a lot of people stuck around to see it.....usually people go for a bathroom break...but he captured everyone's attention...and now a days the superbowl tries to play it safe and it becomes the bathroom break for everyone...but Prince's was coolest in recent years...

I never even watched a halftime show prior to Michael starting the grand concert trend on the 50 yard line. Before that, the marching band entering the arena would signal me to get some more munchies and take a pee break.

Ummmm, let me think....among all the ones I have seen, that is the ONLY one that has ever stood out in my memory. I don't know about any after 1998 because we got rid of our tv. I wanted to see Springsteen this year but I missed it since I was watching WallE with the kids, lol. more important than a football show. :)

In any case, imo Michael's performance that day was absolutely spectacular. And at that time in my life, Michael was not the most important person for me. I was paying more attention to other people. But it is HIS performance that stands out. :)

When you talk about super bowl halftime performances nowadays, you immediately recall Michael Jackson.. and not any other artist out there. That is in its own way a huge accomplishment.

Thanks for the link. I have no idea why uk.askmen.com put Janet Jackson's performance ahead of Michael's performance.

They just liked seeing the nip slip.

I DID love Janet's performance, though, I wish Justin wasn't in it though - I just wanna slap him every time I watch it now.
