I honestly am very very curious!

Here are mine:

- You are not alone (nice r&b sound, quite intimate sounding but the chorus gives me shivers in a bad way, also that long note in the end is like scratching metal on metal in my ears).
- This time around (Michael sounds like he is pushing out a long thick piece of cable while recording this, too much of a hip hop sound).
- 2bad (so much shouting going on during the chorus, it grinds my ears, great beat though I give it that).
- 2000 watts (what’s with the voice, what is is it about lyrically? good beat for sure.
- Threatened (you just cannot re create thriller, forget it, move on)
- Privacy ( yeaaaah yeaaaah, this song is sluggish yeaaah yeaaah)
- D.S. (Oh boy those lyrics, that ending, you’re turning gangsta now?)
- Cry (At this point it felt like he had done this song 10 times before, very forgettable in sound and message)

EDIT: no posthumous songs are allowed!

It's important to know if posthumous released songs are included?

If yes, this is my Least 5:
- Don't Be Messing Round
- I'm so Blue
- She's Trouble
- Can't Get Outta The Rain
- Serious Effect

If not this would be my Least 5:
- Girlfriend (way too cheesy)
- Superfly Sister (I never got into this song)
- Invincible (I keep forgetting the melody, it's too similar to Unbreakable, which is the better song)
- I Can't Let Her Get Away (too long, not really interesting)
- D.S. (way too long and repetitive!)

No they’re not supposed to be included because I think that’s what’s most people would go for. I’m curious about the classics that are less loved…

Thanks for replying!

HEY!!!

I didn't complain when you dissed Cry. I was Stoic and just took like a, um, Stoic! :ROFLMAO:

My heart belongs to Cry, you dumped all over it but I didn't say a word. Not a single word.

Forgettable?
Well what would you do? Cry?
I mean I would offer you a handkerchief, I'm a decent Neanderthal person...

You are a peasant. :ROFLMAO:

I shall rise above this discussion. Like the seagulls in Cry. In fact, I need to go and watch the video. Haven't seen it since last night.

  1. “Got the Hots.” Since it was released in MJ’s lifetime, I figure it counts. The only song I’d call outright terrible in every respect. The Temperton tracks overall are often skipped on my Spotify, save for “Thriller,” and this is his biggest offender.
  2. “Heaven Can Wait.” I can’t wrap my mind around the adoration for this one. One of the most generic, uninspired songs MJ ever recorded, with his absolute worst vocal.
  3. “Rock with You.” One of the most overrated songs in modern music history, in my personal opinion. It’s not a bad song per se, but I don’t find it exciting or extraordinarily well-written.
  4. “Girlfriend.” Everyone has dunked on this one over the years, and rightfully so. Not terrible, but definitely drags the album down.
  5. “Off the Wall.” Same issue as with “Rock with You.”

I now understand your hatred for got the hots better considering you also dislike rock with you and off the wall. It is simply not your type of music.

@AlwaysThere btw I don’t like your post because I understand it, I like it because I understand it, if you understand what I mean.

Privacy (I think it's really boring)
Butterflies (Overrated within the fan community. People praise Michael's falsetto but I find it annoying)
You Are Not Alone (Boring and generic RnB song. The person who wrote it don't help either)
Cry (Same issue as YANA)
Smile (It deserves it's place on HIStory but I could never get into it)

My man I am shocked, fair play there's no such thing as a wrong opinion. This is difficult to pick

1. Don't Walk Away. Not a fan of the song itself or the pleading way in which Mike sings it.
2. Little Susie. Never liked the song and I've always skipped it whenever I listen to HIStory, espicially because it doesn't fit with the rest of the album.
3. Girlfriend. I don’t hate this, but it suffers from being on a wonderful album and being a weak song. I love McCartney but he does have a knack of writing fluff like this.
4. Invincible. This feels like a song Usher or Timberlake should have done around this time, it's not strong enough for Mike but unfortunately he doesn't elevate it much either.
5. Childhood. Bit too Disney-esque for my taste. Although he sings it wonderfully and that video of him performing it in the studio is magic.

What's annoying is now I've written this, these 5 songs will be stuck in my head all day

Leave Me Alone
Sunset Driver
Why You Wanna Trip on Me
Speed Demon
D. S.

sorry to see that some of my favorite songs are named, (Heaven Can Wait, 2000 Watts, Don't Walk Away, Cry, Childhood, Smile, This time around, Rock with You) but I get over it)

1. Privacy
2. D.S.
3. Can't Let Her Get Away
4. She Drives Me Wild
5. Just Good Friends

I can not honestly come up with five songs to match this criterion.

1. Girlfriend
2. In the Closet [maybe]
3. Privacy

@Agonum
What about in the closet you don’t like? I always found it a bit unjustly forgotten, it has classic vocals and an unconventional song structure with a slow spoken part - regular verse - then some kind of pre chorus or hook - another verse - another pre chorus/hook- another spoken part and only then do we get the first main chorus. The music is hard, dense and full of great effects and by the time MJ starts ad libbing I’m in full boogie mode. It is wild man! 😄

Cry
Don’t Walk Away
You Are My Life
Childhood
Smile

I would never choose to listen to them. Too long, too repetitive.

@Agonum

While there is no Dutch word for dagsform I did not need your explanation, I knew what you meant right away becausd the 2 words separately are also used in Dutch. The word closest to dagsform we use is “gemoedstoestand” which could mean the same as your dagsform but it less specific.

Languages are cool!
