Woman Sued Ex-BF for Giving Her an STD & Won 1.3 Million

Okay when I get the link for it, I will certainly post it. I was watching 'The Talk' on Fri and they announced a woman sued her ex for giving her an std & won 1.3 million dollars. So my question is, what are the 'requirements' of suing for something like this? I think one, the man must have known he had an STD but, why 1.5 million dollars? It must have been a pretty expensive thing to take care of. The STD was HPV.

But then again, this does seem somewhat similar to this famous British case -

a woman had sexual intercourse with a man, but didn't inform him of the fact she was suffering from aids... He caught it. :mello: I'd have to dig into my textbooks to find the case now. :lol:
