does anyone know about this, is it true i hope not on a talk show coming up on 8:00 tonight the music topic are this

Janet Jackson may have two songs in rotation — “Nothing” and her Pitbull team-up “Heartbeat Love” — but fans anxious to hear her follow-up to 2008’s Discipline have a long wait ahead of them: Jackson tells Rolling Stone she’s not currently working on an album.

“There was a time where I was actually in the studio and I was recording, but I’m not working on an album,” she says. “There have been a lot of record labels that have asked me to sit down and talk with them, but I don’t know if I want to do something completely independent, or go with a major.” Discipline was Jackson’s first disc on Def Jam after she left her longtime label Virgin.

So what about the new songs? “Nothing” is a one-off she co-wrote and co-produced with Jermaine Dupri for the new Tyler Perry film Why Did I Get Married Too?, and the lyrics reflect the tensions and turmoil between characters, like Angela’s trust issues with Marcus (”You can even have the password to my phone”), as well as her own character Patricia’s guilt and regret over Gavin (”We should cherish every moment like it’s the last”). As for the second song, Jackson said she did it as a favor for Rodney Jerkins, for “fun.”

When Jackson does return to the studio, she’s not sure whether she’ll work toward a classic pop album (as “Nothing” might indicate) or do something more dance club-oriented (like “Heartbeat Love”): “I haven’t decided on exactly where I want to go or what I want to do.”
 
It appears Janet will be focussing on her acting career moving ahead. As previously reported, she will be starring alongside Mariah Carey and Whoopi Goldberg, in Tyler Perry’s movie adaptation of the book ‘For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf‘, which begins shooting in June.

I agree. I'm looking forward to seeing more of her on the big screen. It was obvious when she played Penny that she had skills.
 
It's not canceled. She's not working on one according to the Rolling Stone article.
 
maybe Janet and Mariah would do the soundtrack for the adapted version of 'For Coloured Girls....', that would be interesting
 
I assumed she put off the album for the new Tyler Perry she's doing and her book she's been working on for about 2 years.

i am sure Michael's death affected her but also bombing consecutively on 2 - 3 albums has more to do with it

the sales are just not there, she can't sell well for a tour that's why she has to keep cancelling....

and as for the acting...just saw some scenes on the new movie....in my opinion...she is still weak ...she just don't have that natural acting gift as Jennifer Hudson or even Aliya had....or even Jill Scott

if rating her against Beyonce in acting... I would give Beyonce a -1 and Janet 1.5...

the movie will do well becuz its a Tyler Perry movie...

Janet has been acting befor these were even born and she has acting talent !! She was great in poetic justice and she was in her early shows like good times and fame. The trailer for WDIGMT shows Janet having a breakdown and she looks so into the roll, she is a very good actress,
shes in another league compared to Beyonce !!
singing and dancing goes without saying...

Its not canceled. She's still undecided about what route she wants to take musically and whether to go independent or to a major label. So she's not releasing this year.

According to a recent article, Michael did receive more views than anyone else first ;) Not Gaga.



And Janet recently said that she isnt working on a new album right now for it to be cancelled! lol
 
Shamonemj90, if you feel Michael and his fans are being attacked it's better to call a mod, they know how to deal with such people better, there is no use in reasoning with them :)
 
I don't even know why I have to say this on this board yet again. this really needs to stop and immediately. 2300 is a subsection of an MJ board. So that means we are or should be fans of MJ. Expect people to be partial to MJ especially. However does not mean we can say whatever we like about family members. We have to be respectful to them. We have to be respectful to one another. If someone says something that is misinformed about a family member, can we just be tactful in trying to correct them?? Come correct with informed conversation instead of using attacks on members.

Stop with the nonsense. It is tired and unnecessary.

And it's already been proven that Janet's album was never canceled. She's not even working on one. So perhaps you can close the thread? :unsure:
