Why do the dumbest things make the news?

It's being reported here that Mickey Rourke watched a fashion show in Paris with Kylie Minogue. Yeah? And? Unless he jumped on the runway and tackled one of the models, I really don't give a shit.

Because a lot of people reading/watching the news are dumb. If everyone on the Earth was a genius then tabloids would not exist.
