What was Michael's relationship like with Rebbie??

I remember hearing that they didn't have much to do with eachother and some rubbish about her not approving of his lifestyle and the way if effects the rest of the family... I don't know how true that all is...

Did she support him during the trial at all? I don't remember seeing her at the court dates at all.

I don't know their relationship but I know that she was there during the trial : Look at these photos : (it was in 2005, trial)

and on her twitter, she wrote a sentence that explains her personnality :

"I like being in the background because then nobody sees me."

and a little after she wrote about Michael : "Michael love to play and just relax. He loved children just like we all do. They are our future.."

Soso thats not her real twitter.....its sad people try to impersonate others, but i see that it happens...anyway she was like a second mom to all of them...i remember reading in a magazine Janet said that

oh i know that's not. she ain't have one of them. lol chile....

but she was the second mother to everyone. the level headed one. good woman.

Latoya mentioned an incident that happened a long time ago when they were all singing together, when MJ received a death threat. all that Rebbie was worried about was herself, which I thought was weird, but that was a long time ago....other than that I think she said something back in 93 about him giving up on his religion, but then again all of the brothers did that I don't know why she would single him out

he didn't give up on his religion, they gave up on him booting him out after thriller
Then the JW's recruited Mr. Sexy MF: Prince Rogers Nelson, lol. He even made an album about the JW beliefs called "The Rainbow Children".

Didn't Michael produce Rebbie's hit 'Centipede' and she did a version of his 'Fly Away' song. Yah, I think she was more of a second mother to a majority of the younger children, probably from Marlon down. I don't know how close they were since Rebbie had already married and started her family by the time the boys got signed to Motown.

I guess I have a hard time with us trying to figure out their family relationships. She was his oldest sister who I'm sure did not agree with some things that he did in his life, but they were family and that's what families do. I can't imagine them not having a relationship at all. Tito said in an interview that they would see each other more than people knew. Just my thoughts

he didn't g ive up on his religion, they gave up on him booting him out after thriller

Oh what they booted Michael out of his religion because of thriller. Poor Michael geez it must have felt like a battle everyday of his life. He was so wonderful and strong. God I miss him.

I dont think anyone booted anyone. The religion just didn't treat MJ any different than they would treat anyone else. And I think even MJ appreciated that in his spiritual essay he wrote later on, how the brothers at the kingdom hall treated him like an actual person. There was no partiality. He couldn't follow the guidelines properly, so he decided to leave by disassociating himself and to correct he didn' get disfellowshipped for thriller thats why theres a disclaimer before the thriller clip, thats what they agreed to. Its later on when MJ's fame rose during the BAD era that conflicts arose. MJ chose fame over the religion, thats all.

Yea I remember her calling in to MSNBC on one of their shows complaining that MJ should know better during the 2003 allegations saying he got nieces and nephews that are gonna get teased and all that, making it all about her and her kids BLAH BLAH BLAH! That did not make me happy I was shocked and surprised that she was even at the trial!

Michael wasn't booted out of the JW after Thriller, he just told off for singing about pre-marital sex in Billie Jean and in their view promotiong the occult in the Thriller video which is why there was a discalmer at the begining of the video about Michael not believing in the occlut. Michael left the JW around 1987, a few years after the Thriller album.

I'm not too sure how close Michael was to Rebbie. Some family members may be closer to each other than others as with all families.

Wow she called into a tv show to say that??? Yikes!

I don't think he chose fame over religion. He's been uber-famous since he was 10 yo and still practiced. I think he chose his art over religion. I think they were trying to control how he expressed himself and he didn't want to be limited. He almost did not release the Thriller video because the church had such a huge problem with it.

I actually don't feel that they were that close, especially when Michael became an adult. I remember during the 1984 Grammy's he called LaToya and Janet up on stage to join him. Then I think LaToya said something to him and as an afterthought he said 'Rebbie, I want you up here too.'

As for that comment to MSNBC, she should really be ashamed of herself for saying something like that publicly, IMO. Michael was a target and a victim and he was taken advantaged of by Bashir and the Arvizos. How should he 'know better' when all he thought he was doing was helping a child stricken with cancer and how would he have known how Bashir was going to backstab him? I've a feeling that Rebbie understands him and his life the least because she was never in the spotlight and kept to herself and her family.

^^^^What's the big deal about what Rebbie said? Michael himself once said that his nieces & nephews were getting into fights at school and getting teased over him.

They had many disagreements but at the in of the day that's his sister they were close he took his kids to her house alot but yes she did take greasy about him

I remember her calling in but that was not my impression of what she said. I thought she was more asking for restraint & fairness from the press - MJ was already being tried & convicted - she did mention it affecting all the kids in the family but I think she was just trying to make an appeal for fairness. The coverage was so bad. Back in 93 Katherine called in to LKL I think, she was so upset, it was heartbreaking. Unfortunately there are not transcripts, but I think you have misinterpreted Rebbie's call.

I have to agree Rebbie never said that when interviewed on MSNBC I recall very well what she said, MJ should stop being so kind because ppl only take advantage of him.
