I truly hope we get songs like Victory, Remember This Night, Rolling The Dice, etc... But I think leaked songs like Hot Street and Nite Line are likely to take the spot.
Good point, but it's nice to imagine us getting songs like Buffalo Bill or the Peter Pan songs...Well, according to the Legacy Recordings website it'll be "an exciting second disc full of surprises for fans including never-released tracks which were worked on by Michael for the Thriller album". So, I think it's safe to assume no post 1982 recordings on it.
It's not a bad idea, but we can pretty much hear how the demo sounds like in fan-made mixes on YT, I'd rather get The Toy if we get the demo of a song that's already released. The demo of Behind the Mask would be great - as MJ left it.
I appreciate the help but that thread is for the album as a whole, this thread only focuses on predictions in what the Disc 2 tracklist is going to be.There's already a thread for this https://www.mjjcommunity.com/threads/thriller-40th-anniversary.200549/page-8#post-4511502
i dont think they'll chose behind the mask , much too soon , dont matter to me , this is it or the toy(best of joy).Songs from that era the Estate could choose from
- Hot Street
- She's Trouble
- Nightline
- Got The Hots
- Carousel
- Starlight
- Slapstick
- Behind The Mask
- Mystery
- Roll The Dice
- The Toy
- Who Do You Know
- Learned My Lesson
- Much Too Soon
- I Never Heard
- Don't Matter To Me
- Why Can't I Be
- Somewhere In Time
- This Is It (not to be confused with the posthumously renamed I Never Heard)
- Under Your Skin
- We Are The Ones
- Nymphette Lover
Doubt it, first of all we won't get both Hot Street and Slapstick (wouldn't make sense), so from Thriller Genesis there's:No unheard songs, probably demos and the leaked thriller era material.
Estate won't pick that just because of the titleNymphette Lover
Doubt it, first of all we won't get both Hot Street and Slapstick (wouldn't make sense), so from Thriller Genesis there's:
- Nite Line
- Hot Street (or Slaptstick)
- Trouble
If we look at Bad 25 for comparison, there were 6 new tracks on there with 2 previously released tracks
Odds are it'll be similar and we'll get at least 3 new tracks
I just find it very funny that this thread has been around since April 1 announcing a "special 2-disc anniversary edition", but somehow hardly anyone (at least not me) has noticed. There's already a thread for this https://www.mjjcommunity.com/threads/thriller-40th-anniversary.200549/page-8#post-4511502
Probably this was the estates inspiration for such Thriller40 project. The very short time period since then would explain the lousy cover artwork.I just find it very funny that this thread has been around since April 1 announcing a "special 2-disc anniversary edition", but somehow hardly anyone (at least not me) has noticed.

Because that was not the original post. Someone made an april fools at first before anyone even knew about what's going to happen, so no one took it seriouslyI just find it very funny that this thread has been around since April 1 announcing a "special 2-disc anniversary edition", but somehow hardly anyone (at least not me) has noticed.
No way to tell. Assuming Quincy is still at odds with them, there’s no chance we’re getting any of the songs he worked on, which would eliminate “Hot Street,” “She’s Trouble,” and “Nightline.” Plus, I’d imagine they’re using the same criteria as with Bad 25 (i.e., only considering songs that were recorded prior to the album’s release), meaning “Chicago 1945,” “Buffalo Bill,” the Peter Pan songs, and the Freddie Mercury songs aren’t gonna be considered.
“The Toy” and the “Behind the Mask” demo are both pretty likely; we’ve heard them already in varying forms. Anything else is a shot in the dark. All I hope is that there’s at least 50% new, unheard material.
Michael was known for recycling lyrics from older songs. Maybe it was the case here.Who Do You Know... This title seems like it could be demo to Behind The Mask?
Remember This Night is a registered song but I thought this might be with Paul McCartney? And I'm not even sure much was recorded of this? I'm thinking it was an song idea in 1981 when they worked on Say, Say, Say, The Man, and TGIM.I truly hope we get songs like Victory, Remember This Night, Rolling The Dice, etc... Back when B25 was released, it was back when people were still buying CDs. Now it's 2022, where streaming and vinyl are more popular than CDs. Even if the new songs arent on the LP, they can at least be streaming-only to satisfy the fans.I doubt the estate are gonna blow that many new tracks on an anniversary project again. They found B25 sales pretty disappointing. (Their own fault due to unrealistic expectations, but still).
Hopefully I'm wrong.
Most of those were either made for Off The Wall or Triumph, I doubt the Estate would consider releasing those.I would think Quincy was involved with Behind The Mask. So that leaves several possibilities for unheard tracks:
Why Can't I Be (We know this has vocals. Think it was mentioned in a deposition. Similar chords to The Girl Is Mine)
Somewhere in Time
Lovely Way
Under Your Skin
We Are The Ones
Nymphette Lover
Who Do You Know... This title seems like it could be demo to Behind The Mask?
disc 2 is gonna be jammed packed full of tracks no on even knew existed! the estate are gonna smash this release!
I mean, Bad25 did come out with songs like "Abortion Papers" and "I'm So Blue", neither of which we heard about before their release. So who knows?we can dream, right?
