Does anyone else on here miss the days when MTV actually played music? I sure do, i also miss all the music related shows like Yo! MTV Raps but now all MTV show is crappy reality TV with shows about spoiled teens 16th B-day parties. Why are they evan showing Reality TV on a music channel anyway? I mean you wouldn't switch on the cooking channels and see a game of Basketball going on

The way things are going now MTV may as well just change it's name to RTV

i know the change is disgusting in both MTV and VH1
what i do like about VH1 is that they actually have reality shows with celebrities.
MTV on the other hand would rather just put on marathons of America's Next Top Model everyday and 3 hour blocks of crappy dating shows.

I wish they would transform both channels and actually make it about music again. MTV2 is no better. All they give is Pimp my Ride. I thought MTV2 was supposed to be about music...guess not...
that's exactly why i dont watch tv very much anymore.

The British VH-1 and VH-1 Classic are actually really good, they bettered with time and they also have all sorts of themed charts and rare videos, especially VH-1 Classic. But MTV simply sucks nowadays.

The latin VH1 is really good too. MTV though seems to be screwed up all around.
I loved MTV around the late '90s early 2000s but now it's just incredibly silly.

How long can you watch My super sweet 16? IMO 99.99% of those girls deserve to get strangled by their own parents btw.
The worst show I've seen there though it's that crap of a show called Next...I even saw they were airing one with one of the 'ladies' from Flavor of Love...:puke:

I agree with you guys. Though they did show Yo MTV Raps over an hour and a half ago. Only because it was the 20th anniversary of it. But other than that I do agree about MTV. I remember how MTV used to be back in the 90s. I remember Club MTV and shows like that. I also agree about VH1. I used to really love to watch that channel and prefer it over MTV. But ever since they had decided to stop showing MJ related programs on their station. Especially when they stop showing those MJ marathons on Michael's birthday. Which I had absolutely love of course. That is when I decided to stop watching that channel for good. And I did the last time I remember watching that channel was a good few years or so ago. Now I really don't care of what they show any more. To me it is just going to be something stupid.

I think the last time I watched MTV or regular VH1 was in the late 90s. I agree, both channels have gone down the tube (not surprising, though, given that they're both owned the same network.) You couldn't pay me enough money to sit through a reality show on their station.

I miss it too...although I DON'T miss those days of Spring Breakers putting on whipped cream bikinis on stage....that probably is the reason why I never let my daughter go away on Spring Break!! LOL!

i used to get all my music /info from Mtv now i get nothing
yeah i think its gone downhill

MTV is no longer Music Telivision..

it's Miscelanious Telivision

they just through whatever they think could get ratings on..

You got that right...but thats what we have VH1 for...

I like many are tired about reality shows, it seems like that is all thats on the Tele any more...

lol..that's simple...mtv was nothing before MJ...he came..mtv became MTV.

then, they ousted him..and MTV became....****

and if it weren't a cable channel..it would be off the air, right now.

i used to feel like i couldn't live without the cable channel. now, the idea of getting cable is like pulling teeth, so i don't have it. it would be a waste of money.

I think basic cable television MTV and VH1 have evolved to suit the Reality TV era and all the music has been circulated to their digital cable television formats.

If you have digital cable you will find that if you pay for the extended-extended channels you will get all the music and videos you want to see on their channels like:

MTVH
MTVJ
MTV3

VH1CR
VH1SO

That's what I get from what has happened to MTV and VH1.

I could also complain about that on even stuff like cartoon network which now shows more live action stuff and G4 showing stuff like 'cops', 'the man show' etc. when that network is supposed to be about video games.

Not necessarily. Cartoon network is for shows, so is G4, but MTV and VH1 are strictly supposed to be for music videos, not reality shows or anything else.
