Describe what you would have done, post your tracklist, whatever.

More interesting than another Invincible thread. Go

Assuming Sony didn't screw him over with Invincible? Just take the unreleased songs from Thriller and make a album out of it. Next year do it with Bad and Dangerous. That's a new album per year selling at least 15 million each.

MJ should’ve gotten in the studio with Dre, Timbaland, Dr. Freeze, and Brad and put together a legit hip-hop/R&B album with some of the wildest beats any of us have ever heard. It would’ve been something unbelievable.

There are albums from which we can guess some of the (potential) sound of the album:
- Songs About Girls - will.i.am
- Year Of The Gentleman + Libra Scale - Ne-Yo
- The Fame + The Fame Monster - Lady Gaga, as MJ worked with Red-One, who worked on these albums

If he would've got to work with Timbaland, check out Shock Value II (and also the first one) and maybe The 20/20 Experience by Justin Timberlake (even though released in 2013 and done in 2012, but MJ would've gone more advanced and this album has the details level of a MJ album).

Considering that R. Kelly wrote songs for MJ, also his albums Love Letter (2010) and Write Me Back (2012 - this one has MJ vibes, like Feelin' Single and You Are My World).

Dre said no, Dr. Freeze wanted to sue MJ so cross him out too, Timbaland might have said yes, Brad definitely would but he's not really hip hop

tbh I feel like Mike would have done a classical album or like direct a movie (cuz we all know that M loved filming cameras and movies and always wanted to direct one himself) or even star in a movie

We know MJ liked to evolve his sound slightly with each album. So, since he already did R&B, that's out.

Assuming he waited another 5 years, it would be 2006. Biggest songs that year were Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy" (UK), Daniel Powter's "Bad Day" (US), and stuff like Nelly Furtado, James Blunt, Shakira and Scissor Sisters. So basically, a split between dance music and acoustic guitar.

For me personally, I wouldn't have wanted hiphop, or an album that was mindlessly packed with collaborations. That ages really badly. Besides, MJ didn't have the street cred to pull that off.

He would have been nearly 50 - maybe a classical album wouldn't have been a bad idea. And I think he would have recorded the whole album in 5.1 surround sound.
