I've heard Will.i.Am say this twice.

He said it a few months ago, and on a video when he died.

He said "No one’s ever going to sell that amount of records. Why? Because there are no more record stores."

And he said something similar in his video tribute.

What exactly does this mean? what does no more record stores mean? I never fully understood this.

Exactly. Back in the day, you bought a record. You couldn't copy them in minutes like you could today. Cassette tapes were copyable, but you had to copy in real-time in order to do it, so the piracy was far less. Now, people download stuff for free, or go to iTunes and buy single tracks instead of the full album.

Thriller isn't going to be outsold. It's not going to happen.

When he says that there are no more record stores, he means that there are no more record stores. There might be Wal-Mart and F.Y.E. lol but no one buys albums anymore like the person above me said. It's kinda sad but hey now we have itunes and illegal downloading sites. :-D

Oh, thats what it means.

That has been bothering me for a while. I never understood that.

Thanks guys.

Now back in the day where there ever stores that were solely for music and buying records? What were they like?
