I found out today that Invincible was released on MiniDisc. I thought it was only on CD, vinyl and cassette.

I also learned that each format was available in all colours... So I thought I'd ask this.

I literally can't remember. My head says it was either grey or yellow. I could look it up but I also can't remember where I left my albums.

All of them. There was a fan campaign on release week to buy each colour in a separate purchase, as back in 2001, the charts were only based on actually physical sales of albums from music shops.

I have the red one signed from the cd signing at Virgin Megastore in New York.

Only the cd's were in the different colours.

my parents wont let me buy any of his albums so I don't have any of them!!!!! 😭 😭 😭 😭 😭

I can imagine this being something the record label came up with to get more easy sales from the fans.
Does it matter??? It was fun and cool. 2001 was the first time there was an online fan community for a major album release. By the time the album was in shops in October, the fan community had been following each step of the journey for over a year, from insiders like Stewart Brawley posting on KOP, to the concert build up and so much more.

The fans and collectors, I suppose. But it's not unheard of for record labels to do stuff like this, though. The Police did it, so did Genesis and Led Zeppelin.

Michael was asked about this in an interview:

"Anthony: Now we have a question from Holland, uh, Femka from Holland writes, "I love the special editions from Off The Wall, Thriller, Bad and Dangerous." She loves you. And asks, "Why does Invincible... Why will Invincible be coming out in different colors?

Michael: Because we wanted the fans to have some fun with it and collect them and, uh... It's a, uh, a Limited Edition, I think. And, uh, there's albums that I love and I will buy them 5 times, even though I have the same cover. Like, 5 times 'cause I love that album so much. So, imagine if they did a different color or just changed the color, I would buy it 5 more times. We just wanted the fans to have some fun with the pictures and with the colors and... Just to try something a little different. That's why we did it."

All the promotion posters for Invincible went up during the concert on Monday September 10. When we woke up on Tuesday 11 September and walked from our hotel to The Palace Hotel where Michael was staying we were so excited to see them.
