2005 - The family of Manuela Gomez Ruiz said that a hospital's focus on accommodating flu-stricken Michael Jackson contributed to the 74-year-old's death. Ruiz had been relocated to a smaller hospital room so Jackson could have a larger room when he was admitted to the hospital. Ruiz had two more heart attacks after being moved and died the same day.

Auctioneer: Michael Jackson wants to move on

http://www.china.org.cn/culture/2009...t_17330313.htm

By Keen Zhang
China.org.cn senior entertainment writer

"Michael Jackson is allowing us to conduct this auction because he wants to move on to the next chapter in his life," Darren Julien, the President of the Julien's Auctions told China.org.cn in an exclusive interview, in which he explained why the Gloved One is going ahead with a sell-off of about 2,000 personal items at Beverly Hills in April, despite the world's worst economic crisis.

An original painting on stretched canvas featuring popular culture and historic figures all wearing Jackson's icnoic sunglasses and glove. Estimate: $1,000 - $2,000 [China.org.cn/Julien's Auctions/Shaan Kokin]

The array of curiosities to go under the hammer include Jackson's iconic white-jeweled glove, a golf cart with Peter Pan-emblazoned cushions, the razor-hands Johnny Depp sported in the movie Edward Scissorhands, a basketball signed by Michael Jordan, MTV Award and Grammy nomination certificates, concert costumes, fabulous furniture, sculpture, fine art, and, not least, the grandiose entrance gates to his infamous Neverland Ranch.

China.org.cn has obtained some world exclusive photos never before seen from the auctioneer (Click here to view).

Julien's Auctions will host a 8-day exhibition at 9900 Wilshire, next to The Beverly Hilton, Los Angeles, from Tuesday April 14 through Monday April 21. The auction itself begins on April 22 and runs through Saturday April 25; it will be broadcast live on the Internet by Auction Network.

Before then, Darren Julien told China.org.cn, highlight items will be exhibited in Dublin from March 6 - 22, and New York from March 24 - 30, to give fans and the public a chance to peak inside the magical but odd world of Michael Jackson.

"We expect the auction to bring in US$1.5 - US$3 million," Julien said.

Part of the proceeds will benefit the MusiCares founded by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences of the United States.

As the "Thriller" singer is said to be in debt to the tune of over US$300 million, there is speculation that the sell-off is part of a plan to pay back his creditors. But Darren Julien said that it was not a forced sale, and the reclusive megastar just wanted to move on.

"When he closed down Neverland, he did not want to put everything in storage," Julien said, "It took him more than 30 years to collect all these items." he added.

After his acquittal of child molestation charges in June 2005, Michael Jackson never returned to his Neverland Ranch; in a Fox News interview the star said he no longer saw the place as "home." The 2800-acre California ranch, including a theme park and a zoo, was once used to give special treats to young children, the ill and the disabled. But prosecutors accused Jackson of carrying out child molestations there, and meticulous police searches of the ranch included cutting the mattress on Jackson's bed into pieces.

"He hasn't been there since the trial," Jackson's elder sister La Toya, 52, told The Sun in January, "He says he never wants to see it again. He doesn't want to be there. The memories are so awful."

On November 11, 2008 Jackson transferred the Neverland title deeds to Sycamore Valley Ranch Company LLC, a joint venture between Jackson, and an affiliate of Colony Capital LLC run by billionaire Thomas Barrack Junior. According to a story in the Wall Street Journal last June, Colony executives "consider the residence completely toxic to Jackson's image, and are urging him to restore the property's original name, Sycamore Canyon Ranch, and to sell it as quickly as possible". This stark assessment may have prompted Jackson to green light the auction.

"I don't think that he will be giving us any other items after this auction," Julien said, but the veteran auctioneer is confident that Jackson "will come to view the exhibition."

"But it is not likely that he will come to the auction," he added, "However, with Michael Jackson, you never know."

Michael Jackson is living in a lavish mansion in the swanky Bel Air district of Los Angeles, his spokesman said. Even though there is no sign of new album from the "King of Pop", rumors have appeared in the British press that the singer is in final talks on a £150 million deal to stage 30 concerts at the vast O2 arena in London from July.

I really like the way Julien's is handling this auction, very elegent and when some of the pieces pass through New York City, I will be right there to take it all in. LOL!

They must be spending a small fortune, sending some of the pieces to different locations and back again. I find it all very exciting!

I personally think this auction is a good idea for Michael. Sometimes the past can drag you down and by doing this he is putting the bad things of the past well and truly behind him so that he can move on into the future. After all these are just material possessions, Michael will always have his memories and the love of his family, friends, fans etc. Thats far more important.

Thank you so much for the news and mentionings MsSnoop especially the clips. Michael and Janet are so super talented

Yep, and in my opinion, that's a LIFE LESSON that everybody can relate to.

Whether you are rich or not so rich (LOL) a good "cleansing" every once in a while is a good thing.

anything that mj wants to keep he is.some talks as if all his worldy possesions are up for sale most of that stuff is exactly that stuff and junk . stuff thats been collected over years and if he doesnt get rid of it is just gonna end up in a lock up somewhere catching dust and costing money.so either let it cost u money or make something off it. the only sad thing is that his whole thing was caused by one thing and one thing only and certain ppl got exactly what they wanted as normal mj never catches a break. be nice for something good to happen just for once

thanks for the news.

Nice video - the first one.

43 videos. Only one winner. Timo aka Blackenise sits down with MJJC

Written by Dom MJJC Interactive Team for MJJCommunity.com

This January, MJJC started a Brand New competition on our forum that would spark interest and inspiration in the hearts of video makers around the world. The MJJC 2009 Video Competition began last month to an overwhelming response. Forty Three unique videos were submitted by YouTube MJ fans from all over and whittled down to a Final Ten! After a week of voting from the fans visiting MJJCommunity.com, Blackenise was crowned our first ever Video Competition Champion. So, how does it feel?

"Thank you very much to all voters again! My aim was simply to be a part of the competition, that was my primary aim," Timo aka Blackenise told us.

He says it is hard to explain when we asked him what the main focus behind the video was. Was there a particular direction he had planned out?

"I just let it out and I wanted to include those sound pieces and in some kind of way realised that we will never really know Michael, he will always be...larger than life!", he says.

Through this Timo explored the areas of the Michael we all know and admire; the performer, the artist, his fantastic dancing ability, the creation of epic short films as music videos, the way he tackles his work and additionally and the pressure he faces each time he undertakes a new project.

Indeed within the fan base, Michael has a profound impact on the fans creative work by providing much inspiration, especially through times where he was faced with personal and legal problems and has grown stronger, as Timo told us.

"I always liked Michael Jackson's music but never really listened to it clearly. After the trial I listened to more and more and it never stopped. I learned that he is so misunderstood and started to realise that he's one of the most talented and blessed / cursed (sadly) people on this planet. Basically what inspires me is that he has put a lot of work into his music and I really feel that. I never get tired of listening to Michael Jackson, never ever! He's a wonderful human being. He is just great!!"

Video making has become a popular hobby over the last few years, and was taken to another level with the birth of YouTube. Timo told us about how he got into it.

"I can remember my very first tries in video making. It was with Windows Movie maker. With time, I'm growing and improving. When I first saw other videos from guys making MJ movies I kinda thought, wow that's cool."

Timo also recalled his very first effort in video editing.

"I can remember my very first MJ remix video I made using a MJ remix that a friend of mine did. I created the video with Movie maker." he laughs and says that this was a very basic video and that he doesn't have it anymore.

"Then I started to spend more time constructing the videos as I really wanted to create something unique, that nobody had on YouTube."

We spoke further about future projects and Timo has ensured us that when the time is right, work will begin on the next project. We want to send our congratulations to Blackenise once again for winning the 1st ever MJJC TV 2009 Video Competition.

exactly. we all know it has nothing to do with MJ being affected by a recession. he's not. he is affected by Sneddon and co. and those that think like them, sullying his former sanctuary.

MICHAEL JACKSON and DIANA ROSS' movie musical THE WIZ is heading back to Broadway this summer (09).
The story - an African-American take on The Wizard of Oz - started out as a musical on the New York stage in 1975, before Sidney Lumet took it to the big screen in 1978 starring Jackson, Ross and Richard Pryor.
It's now heading back to its roots and will run at Manhattan's City Center from 12 June to 3 July (09). No actors have been cast.

Court: Michael Jackson owes Torrance law firm

http://www.dailybreeze.com/news/ci_11779532?source=rss

A Torrance law firm has once again emerged the victor in a protracted court battle with pop star Michael Jackson over unpaid legal fees.
The 2nd District Court of Appeal issued an opinion Monday favoring Ayscough & Marar, which represented Jackson on various civil matters around the time he was on trial for child molestation in 2005.
However, Jackson beat it before paying the $217,000 bill.
Ayscough & Marar sued Jackson and two of his companies in Torrance Superior Court. Just as the case was to go to trial before a downtown Los Angeles judge in June 2007, Jackson agreed to pay what he owed, plus interest.
Then Jackson appealed, claiming Judge James Chalfant wrongly denied his request to postpone the trial.
"It made no sense," Brent Ayscough said in a telephone interview Tuesday. "How do you appeal something you agreed to pay?"
A message left for Jackson's attorney, Thomas Mundell, was not returned.
In addition to the legal fees, Jackson also agreed to pay $175,000 to cover Ayscough & Marar's expenses for suing Jackson, Ayscough said.
At the time of Jackson's appeal, he had paid the firm approximately $440,000. Ayscough said they will likely file a motion to recoup the costs of fighting the appeal as well.
Ayscough said his firm was hired through Jackson's brother and then business manager, Randy Jackson, who remains a longtime client of the firm. "We were turned over his civil cases," Ayscough said. "There were quite a few."

At the time, Jackson was defending himself against accusations that he sexually molested a young boy at his Neverland Ranch in Santa Maria. Jackson was acquitted of the charges.
The judge in Santa Maria had issued a gag order in that case, and various news organizations were fighting it.
Ayscough & Marar fought mostly successfully to keep the information related to the criminal case out of the media and also dealt with other civil cases.
One case was brought by Jackson's former business associate, porn producer F. Marc Schaffel, over more than $1.4 million in unpaid royalties and loans from various collaborations.
At first, the legally embattled King of Pop paid his bills. Then he stopped.
"I said, `If you don't pay us, we're gonna quit,"' Ayscough said.
The firm sued in February 2006 and Jackson countersued, claiming his former lawyers wrongly threatened to reveal information related to the criminal trial if he didn't pay. Chalfant dismissed the cross complaint.
Ayscough & Marar won a court ruling that ordered Jackson to participate in a deposition. He went, but then, inexplicably, left before it was over.
Chalfant had found that Jackson failed to submit other information in the case and refused to delay the trial so Jackson's attorney could remedy the situation or continue negotiating a settlement.
Ayscough & Marar isn't the only law firm that has pursued Jackson for unpaid bills.
According to E! Online, the firm Wachtel & Massey quit a New York breach of contract case when Jackson stopped paying his bills, although Jackson claims he fired them.

And the Wiz is played on cable quite often. As a matter of fact, it was on this past weekend.

Also, last Thanksgiving, TVOne (another cable channel) played it back-to-back for 24 hours straight.
