Please update here about the vigils to be held in America.

Anything in NYC so far? All I've seen was sporadic displays of sorrow here and there, but nothing organized yet..

Matthew Perry was just a while ago reporting from LA at BBC America, and described it rightly: the massive and immense mourning that has been going on nation-wide, it seems that has been going on so far privately -through the web, by watching tv tributes etc..
I think it's time that we bring this out, that we express it publicly, that we show in an organized way in our public life exactly what Michael was for us and how much pain we feel right now.

Vigils are a good way to start. Let's keep a track of them here

Where: West End Dallas
Time: 2:30pm
Description: Meet the group at the dragon at the West End. We'll go into one of the restaurants with our MJ memorabilia and reflect on the legend that was the "King of Pop". Be around those that feel the same way as you are feeling right now.

See you there!
We can also stop off at a record store that has MJ memorbillia such as vintage posters and pins.

I hope that too.. It's a shame they haven't already done something big downtown.. Newyorkers have strong ties to MJ.. His last concert in Madisson square garden was sold out in...20 minutes! People love him without pause..

any update today, on possible vigils in NY? (or anywhere..)

I'm going to L.A on Thursday so I hope things are still going on there..

I'm sure that tributes will continue being held for a long time, but for the immediate memorials and tributes to Michael now in the first days after he's gone, mid-July is a bit far..

My hope was from the very beginning that we can organize something massive, not with music necessarily -as in the Apollo tributes- but with candles and prayer, downtown. Something like the outpooring of people in the streets there when Lenon died.

Is it possible to still arrange that? Anyone interested to join in such an effort? Maybe it can be set for the day of the funeral.. Let's all go to the center downtown (Time Square, Madisson Square Garden, or you name it), to watch, silently pray and accompany our man in his last trip..

If the streets close for a few hours by a crowd of all those that want to silently pray or pay tribute that day, it will be the strongest scene and message in memory of Michael that we can leave to the generations to come..
