Tommy Emmanuel is called the musician of the musicians and is held one of the most prominent guitar players in the world (of those still alive, to be exact). His brilliant career started about forty years ago. This artist, born in Australia, creates music which is very strongly connected with the atmosphere of that continent. Tommy Emmanuel uses unique and very sophisticated at the same time, techniques of playing the guitar: fingerstyle and slapping.

As a teenager, Tommy Emmanuel left his family home and went to live in Sydney, determined to make a career. There, starting with playing at clubs, he got discovered quite fast and appreciated, which resulted in the beginning of his work as a session musician in true demand. In the 1970s and early 1980s, he was a member of a band very well-known in that time in Australia, ’Dragon’. Parallelly, he began his solo career, recording music and presenting his tunes to a wider audience. Some of those tunes, like: ‘Lost in Love’, ‘All Out of Love’, ‘Every Woman in the World’ became immediate hits.

In the Unite States of America, Tommy Emmanuel was spotted when his album titled ‘Midnight Drive’ found its place (and for 16 weeks!) on the list of five greatest hits and the musician himself was named the best debuting artist. In 1998, Tommy Emmauel was nominated for a GRAMMY Award, for the record he made together with Chet Atkins, ‘The Day Fingerpickers Took Over The World’.

Tommy Emmanuel performed and collaborated with such prominent artists as: Sir George Martin, Stevie Wonder, Eric Clapton, Michael Bolton, Chet Atkins, Jerry Reed, James Burton, John Denver, Albert Lee, Robben Ford, Larry Carlton, Dave Koz, Martin Taylor, L Joe Walsh, Warren Hill, James Morrison, John Farnham, Roberta Flack, Randy Goodrum, David Hirshfelder, The Chieftains, to name just a few.

Emmanuel’s unique style of playing the guitar, called ‘fingerstyle’, resembles in its technical aspects the way you play the piano. Nowadays, Tommy has many followers, who however are far from reaching his artistry. The musician’s excellent contact with the audience makes his concerts an unforgettable, exceptional experience.

He said last few years. Also I do believe he just meant the tracks generally. Plus I think he was just pulled on to play in like the last year or something. Not like he actually recorded it with Michael. He said he only met him once.
