Number Ones will fall down to second best selling album of the year in the US this week. (Taylor Swift's album was re-released and is selling far better than Ones.)

WEEK 44

albums selling over 1,000,000 - this year - 15 / last year - 16
albums selling over 500,000 - this year - 43 / last year - 56
albums selling over 250,000 - this year - 106 / last year - 130

Taylor Swift's Fearless becomes the second album to pass through the 2 million sales mark this year, and falls just 4,000 units short of re-taking the #1 slot on the YTD chart. Fearless also sold over 2 million units in 2008, one of only four albums to achieve this, and all four of those albums are still in this year's top 100. As far as I can tell, the last album that sold more than 2 million units 2 years running was OutKasts Speakerboxxx/The Love Below back in 2003/4.

Making headway in the top half of this week's list we have Jay-Z's The Blueprint 3 up another place to #8, Miley Cyrus' Time Of Our Lives EP up 1 to #28 and Michael Buble's Crazy Love up 9 places and into the top 40. Biggest gainer is the New Moon soundtrack which jumps 95 - 71.

Michael Jackson's This Is It is the new BB200 #1, and enters this list at #64, taking his total number of albums on the top 100 to 7. It's widely expected to sell over a million units by the end of the year, joining Number Ones, Thriller and The Essential. Paramore's Brand New Eyes is the second new album on this week's list at #98.

Next week Carrie Underwood's 3rd album Play On will debut at #1 on the BB200 on sales currently estimated at 300-350,000, which would easily be enough to get into the top 80 on this list.

Key: Albums in blue are 2009 releases, albums in green are catalog. If the sales number is in italics, it is an estimate.

I can't believe "Speakerboxx" is almost 7 years old. Time really does go by fast. :p

Some people better move past the 80s albums and dig Dangerous, History and Vince some more, they dont know what they`re missin!!!!!!!!

Oh, I know. I always tell people that if they want to know what Michael's life was like, they should really listen to History. I think it's his most personal album. Dangerous, History, Blood On The Dancefloor and Invincible are seriously underrated.

BEST SELLING ALBUMS OF 2009 IN USA AS OF NOVEMBER 3RD, 2009:

Michael Jackson's "Number Ones": 2,033,000

Taylor Swift's "Fearless": 2,030,147
---------

(LATEST WEEKLY CHART) MJ still has the "best selling album of 09" so far, but Taylor Swift, who has the "second best selling album", isn't too far behind. She is behind MJ by only about 3,000 albums!!!!

Unbelievable to think that a ''best selling record of the year'' is a record that only sells a little over 2mill nowadays.

I knew this would inevitably happen when she re-released her album as a "special edition" (with a dvd on top of it). I don't know if someone has info on the contrary, but it seems like her record company deliberately came up with this plan after MJ's "Number Ones" surpassed her for U.S. top selling album this summer, something they obviously couldn't anticipate, so they reacted with the re-release.

But it's amazing... isn't it?

An old greatest hits collection still managed to sell over 2 million in this day and age.

I also find it sad that the best selling album of 2009 is only 2,000,000. Plus, 300, 000 is enough to place you in the Top 100 chart. SMH! You can really see how much the music industry has taken a nose dive.

Similar prices on Amazon as well....pick up number ones for younger family members, friends for the holidays and introduce them to GREAT MUSIC

Sony should re-issue the Number Ones album as CD/DVD double just in time for Xmas haha. Re-release the One More Chance single with the ORIGINAL filmed video to support it, and have that clip added to the DVD too.

Ah, if only. Things we dream about, but will never get...

Sony should read MJ fan boards, and consider the ideas of fans like you..., I really wonder why there are such morons and why they dont realize the importance of interactivity among MJ fan communities and managing of MJ business... = fans demands (e.g. DVD BAD or HIStory tour)

It can influence the results of AMA, cant it?

If MJs No.1s was the best seller and Michael as the best seller of the year (which he is now)... the awards are guaranteed....

Billboard calendar year ends next week. Therefore we only have this week to buy the album so it could impact 2009 sales. He is the best selling artist...even if he doesn't have the best selling album.

Moonwalker.Fan the AMAS nominotions are ased on sale & airplay. the winners are solely based on votes.

NOOO!!! REALLY? This is like that horrible race where someone sneaks up at the VERY END and snatches the win that you thought was secured...
