To say I'm surprised by the GOP sweep would be an understatement. This also goes to show you can't read too much into focus groups, special interest polls or mainstream media. This elections cycle was starting to look like the Democrats would not only maintain control of the Senate, but possibly gain the House, too. NONE of that happened and on the state level some deep blue states elected Republican governors, while the incumbent governors in red states were re-elected!

This is the first time in 8 years Congress will have a Republican majority.

I felt there was a good chance it was going to happen. Still....the actual reality has me very demoralized this morning.

I wish I could say I'm surprised but I'm not. It's a knee jerk reaction to what's going on in the country the same way it was when Obama was elected. Everybody was upset with Bush and the wars.
But this won't help anything.
It's not going to change anything tho. Congress is still inept and the Tea party still exists.

The one good thing I will say about it (and I even saw an editorial that agrees with my opinion today)is that I truly believe Congress will continue this inept path and it should clear the way for the Democrats to take over in 2016-hopefully, that will be Hillary and co.

I think it's great, that we have a throw the bums out party every once in awhile. Both major parties have taken the PEOPLE for granted. They've also forgotten that they WORK for the people, not the other way around. We have a check and balance of power in this country for a reason, the main one being we are NOT a monarchy and I'm glad! No politician is entitled to the Presidency or a seat in Congress. F*ck 'em. . . if they don't want to listen to their constituents or give a damn, then they don't deserve to keep their job.

The Republican controlled Congress has the keys to the car now and if they abuse it, their asses will be fired NEXT.

YEAH, baby!!! :lmao:

Thank a VETERAN, while you're at it. . .

The results on the state level was an eye opener too. Illinois (a left-leaning bastion for decades) elected a Republican governor, which truly shocked me, lol! I had to call my friends in Peoria to confirm it, because I didn't believe it. :lmao:

The polling place I voted at was busy, had a steady stream of people coming in and the conversation was energized while everyone waited in line. People were happy to vote, felt hopeful. That was different (to say the least).
